Need help with "factory test stopped" msg - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am so frustrated!
I used Omega rom for two months and yesterday I tried to install latest Rootbox on my phone, wiped everything and installed.
My IMEI number got messed up somehow from it so I fixed it and tried to install Stock rom ME6 based, but it made everything worse.
Since then I'm trying to flash, wipe, flash, wipe 3 roms- 4.1.2 stock, Omega, Carbon and in all three i got a different problem:
IMEI messed up - fixed.
No network connection - a huge problem but i think i fixed it.
Now I get "Factory test stopped" msg and no matter how many wipes i do and which rom im trying to install, the msg won't go away and Gmail keeps FC.
Tried to flash modems too (donno if it's connected but i tried it anyway)
Tried to find info about Factory Test but with no luck.
Can anyone help?

If you have efs backup try using arizpatch https://db.tt/JXo5Y2oBthe factory test msg is due to empty efs partition

Not working for me.
My IMEI is current. I fixed it. But the Factory Test msg appears each time. I don't have a lock screen and my phone doesn't function.
Is that the end of my N7100?
UPDATE:
I have no idea how i did it but i fixed the factory test.
Installed Carbon and my IMEI was just fine. After I reset my phone, IMEI number got messed up again. Please help me understand what's going on?

Q: Why am I receiving multiple error messages?

Hi
I am new to the forum, and being the noob that I am would like to ask some help from you guys. I have been receiving multiple error messages ranging from "Unfortunatley, Camera has stopped" to android.process.media has stopped as well. I have tried installing different roms, kernels, fixing the permissions all the way to completely formatting the SD card and using Odin to install the stock ROM again. I am at a loss as to what to do, any help at all would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks for your time!

When I installed the Stock ROM again using Odin, I performed all the steps you listed above before I installed the Rom in a last ditch effort, I will try it again. Thanks for the information, but are there any other suggestions?
I had this problem using tge beats installer from the market. I had to go back to stock and reroot. Doing a factory reset help. If that fails, i noticed uninstalling the failed apps and reinstalling worked but of course doing that for stock apps isnt as easy

Just to a factory reset and then us Odin and if you are using apps that are backed up don't just redownload from play that could be the problem

No I have not tried that, will do it tonight when I can get my hands on the phone.
Well the infamous wipes were a no go also....so I wiped everything once again did a fresh install of the PAC man ROM by jay dub and it wasn't on there so I'm wondering if it has something to do with the touchwiz ROM Idk to be honest tho it really confuses me on why no one else is having the issue it was on my wife's phone that I was having the issue on so I'm going to try and reproduce the issue on my phone later

flashed multiple Roms on this, the only way i can get rid of the info on screen is by going back to 4.0.4. has anyone come to figure out where this is coming from?
Little late
Okay so i know its late but if anyones feels the need to go back to stock heres the fix:
-Have root access
-Use titanium backup to find Systeminfo 4.1.2
-Clearing data will remove that
-You should only need to do this every boot
Not sure if you can remove this program, but that would eliminate the problem

I know its an old thread, but i am wondering if any one can shed some light as to why this system info screen appears, i was able to get rid of it by just deleting the file from titanium backup, no visible problems what so ever , data, phone, mms, every thing works as it should.
Just wondering why it popped up after odin back to stock..
Also I've read a few other samsung forums, and they relate this info screen to either; permanent safe mode due to imei faking, or corrupted efs drive/partition or some what.
Fyi, with the imei faking there would be no data/cellular services.
So I'm going with that something might be wrong with my efs? Maybe?
I had the same issue. I fixed it by restoring efs from a TRWP efs backup.
When I had this system screen show up it also flashed below it on startup that factory mode was on. If you go to youtube and search "Samsung Galaxy S4 : How to Get out of Factory Mode" it may help those without a efs backup

[Q] Am I trapped AOSP?

I flashed an AOSP Rom (SuperNexus) on my LGOG. Now when I try to flash a Stock (ZVB) based ROM, my phone reboots every time data connects. I tried Stock Rooted and Lifeless. The ROM's will flash onto my phone, but I can't get any data.
I tried installing LGNPST, but every time I connect my phone and open the LGNPST software I get a message that LG USB/Parallel dongle is not detected. I flashed back to Super Nex and my connection is fine.
And I am re-flashing, not restoring a backup. I ran a backup in TWRP before I flashed Super Nex so that I could get back to my Stock setup, but TWRP can't see anything to restore.
Ugh

sounds like you're having similar issues as bmp7777, have you made any changes to your storage? as in the whole sdcard0 stuff? are your backups stored in sdcard0 ? when you flash a aosp rom it changes the way your storage is set up make sure you put your important stuff on sdcard0

Hope I didn't come across as rude, wasn't my intention, just thought up the quickest way I knew would solve it

This happened to me a couple months ago.
Easy solution:
Go to TWRP -> Wipe -> Advanced -> make sure you wipe all four options data, dalvik, cache, and system.
When you factory reset you only wiped data, dalvik, and cache. You forgot to wipe system, then you can go back to flashing normally.
Dont worry this wont wipe your SDcard.
Well I ****ed up. I formatted the data partition. I am now hard bricked. No recovery, no boot, nothing. glad I purchased that insurance.

Are you actually hard bricked because at this point normally I'm pretty sure you could just LGNPST back to stock? I mean I've wiped everything before to rule out dirty flashing related bugs on ROMs and I don't think TWRP actually touches any of the really critical low-level files.

Worse than I've done before. Whatever I did I got black screen no matter what volume rocker power button combo I use. I have lgnpst installed on my computer but it doesn't recognize that I have my phone plugged in. Not sure what to do with that. Everything worked well when I rooted.

I had the same issue with LGNPST. The solution is very simple. Uninstall LGNPDT completely from your computer. Go into start-computer-c drive and delete folders labeled LG electronics off of there and inside program files. Then reinstall LGNPST but right click the .exe file and select install as administrator. This will solve your issue and flash back to stock. Make sure you follow the normal process of selecting the .dll and .bin files.
Let me know if this helped.

Unknown?

Something weird happens when I try a different ROM or updating the current ROM I'm on.
Everything changes to "unknown" imei, network, etc.
I restore a backup and everything is perfectly fine.
I have tried going back to stock and re-rooting the device, once I flash a ROM everything goes to "unknown".
What I've tried:
Returning to stock and re-rooting
Switched recoveries (tried both cwm and Twrp)
Made sure downloads weren't bad (both ROM and gapps)
Made sure recoveries were up to date
Full wipes when trying a different ROM
T-Mobile gs3 T-999 (yes, I'm sure)
Rooted
Twrp recovery
Running Ayysir's PA 3.99 RC1

I second this.
Some reported that after rebooting several times, everything returned to normal. It is very weird, but in this case the IMEI is not lost, it's just the O/S isn't reading it for whatever reason.
If rebooting doesn't eventually help, you could try using nvrestore. But just about everyone has said an Odin flash back to stock solved it.

I'll have to try rebooting a few times the next time it happens.
Yes going back to stock does resolve the issue. I was going to Odin back to stock (once again), instead I tried restoring from a back and everything was back to normal.
I was just wondering if this common, I will definitely try rebooting a few times the next time. Thanks Doc.

Anytime! Haven't seen him much lately but mt3g had this issue and it seemed that once he ran the reboot nvbackup command, it would fix itself after the first boot, whereas for others he said it was taking several attempts.
I think it was aerowinder that was also in that discussion with us so I credit the two of them for educating me on it. The two of them are usually who I learn the cm/aosp stuff from!

[Q] !Help! Baseband version: Unknown!

Today I rooted my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 using chainfire's cf-auto-root tool. I had some issues with getting past knox, but eventually resolved them. I installed TWRP with goomanager, and everything was working just fine. After that i Flashed the "dirty unicorn" rom for the l900, which seemed to work right, but when i booted it up I couldn't connect to sprint's mobile network. I checked under "about", and it says unknown under baseband, network, imei, meid, and pretty much anything else having to do with the network. (WiFi still works like normal) I tried restoring a nand backup from earlier, but it didn't fix the problem. I do not have a backup of my efs folder, as i've never messed with the modem and all that before, so i felt no need to back it up separately.
If anyone has any idea on how to fix this, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!
