It must be in the root directory of your device in "clockworkmod" directory I guess.
You have a "0" folder, look in there.

I use ES File Explorer. Under storage, I have:
"/ Device"
"0"
"SDCard1"
It is under the first one listed (Device) - "/data/media/clockworkmod/backup". At least that's where it is on my phone.
I never use es because you can't do the same stuff you can on root browser. But I think because when I make a back up its there but when I do a wipe and install a new ROM it erases it

this happened to me with my twrp backups: i ended up finding them in the legacy forlder. if you use es file explorer just go to device>storage and it should be there (sorry if its wrong, just going by memory but that legacy folder had my backups)

Check clockwork folder and inside there should be a folder that says backup
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA Premium HD app
Backups on this phone will always have the incorrect date. The recoveries do do not have access to the time.

That's weird, I made a backup with CWM before switching to TWRP and there's nothing in that folder.
Another question, where are the backups stored from TWRP? I can see them while in recovery, but not in any file explorer.

All I can think of go in to recovery and wipe/reset device. You would loose all your data so you know.

So I'm new to the s3 I successfully rooted and installed cwm. I made a back up of my stock 4.1.2 ROM but when I installed a new ROM my back up went away. On my previous phones in cwm when you wipe data it didn't wipe any backup. Now it did. How can I prevent this from happening and and does anyone please have a 4.1.2 stock t mobile ROM cwm backup!? Would be very much appreciated

It should be on the root of the internal storage. To prevent this, stick to one version of the os. No one is going to give you their backup/nandroid. Go through the development section, there's a few 4.1.2 stock Roms with root.

It would be under the /0 if op made the backup after flashing and booting up the ROM.

What do you mean stick to one version of os. Does anyone have a backup without logging in to a gmail account. So its completely stock

In my past experience with cwm wiping data always wiped the internal storage.. So one way to prevent it from happening is to make backups to the external sdcard instead of internal.. I don't know how it works now because I've been using twrp for a while now.. And there is stock ROMs in the development section, you can just download one and flash it

Normally rom backup is secured and will not be wiped
You can download es file explorer and give root permission
Go to /device,- mnt folder - shell folder - you will find cwm folder and in that backup folder containing your all backup
Try it

Where are you downloading from? From a browser it should be in the /downloads and from GooManager its just in /Goo (Downloads or Manager)
Your recovery has a choice for internal or external sd card.

Go to file manager. Look for Twrp and open the back up folder inside.
