Hi friends, can the doomkernel really reach 2ghz?indeed i don't want to burn my xperia but my question is only for curiosity and eventually for testing(but not at 2ghz xd).i know that overclock kill the duration of the battery but what is the max rocksolid frequency?and anyone tested the 1.9/2 ghz ?is it stable?is the performance really increased with overclock?thank you very much
It depends on your specific device for whether 2.0ghz works or not. For mine, 2.0ghz does work (voltage 1500), though I don't use it since I never need that much power. The performance does increase quite a big with overclocking, but it's usually not actually necessary.
About the 2Ghz.
I have DooMKernel 2Ghz installed, but whenever I actually put the slider (on setCPU) on 2Ghz, my phone reboots. The highest I have ever performed a benchmark was 1,7Ghz, but it became very hot. You can try to push it to 2Ghz though, on my phone trying hasn't caused any problems.
1.5 to 1.6 Ghz is the Safest for Xperia Play
So 1.5 ghz... Is fine for xperia play.. But, is what all u talking about related to processor speed.. I m not understanding this concept of overclocking.. N does this overclocking really makes to run the play fast than it is now at 1 ghz...??

overclocking is the process of making the CPU operate faster than specified by the manufacturer. It does indeed make the phone faster, but also makes the battery life shorter.
I've done it, don't really care to though seeing as how it drains the battery way too fast. But it just depends, some phones can handle it and some can't even if they are the same exact phone model
as you all know there are new kernel been made up for our sgY so i
thought if it is possible for any dev to really tweak up our Gpu coz the current one you know sucks a bit when you compare to adreno
it would be really nice if we can tweak it for real fun for gaming
we cant mod our gpu cuz its hardware. but u can use chainfire 3d for artifical graphics.. btw our gaming performance is quite nice!
try flashing bravia engine too from dev section...hehehe
Well i have a phone, and in that forum members says that Overclock the cpu shorts the motherboard life, is that true? and for those who are using Overclock, do u really feel something diferent with the performance of the tablet? or do u see something wrong with Overclock? like random reeboots or makes the tablet hot? Im thinking in OC or not my tab, so i wanna see the experience from other members, thx in advance. :good:

I cover this in the guide I wrote in general (which has been pushed down quite a ways) but anyways here goes another version.
Overclocking varies from device to device, even of the same model. Variances in tolerance is on a per chip basis, as long as they pass within a certain range they are sent out for production in devices. Overclocking in general is within means of the chip's abilities, if it isn't, you'll know it. Generally speaking, 1.4 GHz is perfectly fine on our devices. 1.5 GHz is also usually ok, but is the upper end of what the Tegra2 can usually tolerate. Few an go past 1.58 GHz, my old G2x's tegra2 could hit 1.7 GHz,but that's well beyond "normal" range.
Overclocking a device is the same as overclocking a PC, you need to be careful with it. Don't just ramp it to 65% overclock and expect it to run fine. Every chip is different. Do it in steps, and test each step before moving on. Test it in normal usage, test it in heavy usage, gaming, etc.
An overclocked device will certainly run hotter then normal, it's running faster, drawing more power, and that creates a hotter running core, no way around it. Keeping in mind there is no airflow in these things, that makes the biggest enemy to CPUs even more dangerous.Does it run so hot that it can shorten component life? Sure it can. Will you still have the device when it happens? I doubt it. Likely, we'll be on Tegra5 before it even begins to show signs of stress.
One of the nice things, though, is our CPUs range so much in speed according to load that just because your Max is 1.5 GHz, it doesn't always run there. Most times, it won't even be in the overclocked speeds. Does it run faster? Sure does. Benchmarks will raise nicely, and games that maybe got choppy before will smooth out, movies that couldn't play well will be fluid, the heavens will align, mankind will discover world peace and I'll win the lottery.
All that being said, I don't usually overclock, in fact I tend to underclock a little to 800MHz. Its usually sufficient to do normal tablet stuff, and I adjust the speed according to what I require. If my movie is lagging, I'll bump it up until it smooths out. Same for a game if it needs it.
In the end, its all personal choice, really. Just because you CAN overclock, doesn't mean you NEED to. IMO a well tuned governor will give as good a result as overclocking in normal usage, and a good I/O Scheduler will also help alot, without adding anymore heat or stress to your device.
TL;DNR:
Overclocking is fun. It causes more heat. It likely won't explode within the time you own it. Or your children. Your battery will suck.
thanks pio for the answer, thats what i needed to read, cuz usually when u talk about OC its like "yeah dude, OC its "tha greeeeeat doi it dude" or something like "dont do it!!! u will decrease your tablet life" and yes, i know that devices are way to diferent even if they are the same model, and also im agree with u, governors and I/O works better than OC but we dont have many for our device, i miss the smartass v2 governor,or the brazzilianwax too, but well, hope someone can port it for us someday.
I'm new of the forum , but i'm here to ask you guys, what do you think about the new kernel DxEngine??, i think that this kernel is coming out with lots of features for our Xplay that we've never seen before. But i don't know much about the VRam and the GPU Overclock... are those two features safe for our devices?? i read lots of posts about the GPU overclock and all says that's not safe and allocating more memory to the GPU i think it's a good idea, but i've never heard about this. I want to know more about this awesome kernel and for now the post have been closed by the moderators so please reply fast i need more information guys
Bye
p.s.: Sorry for bad english

Well there is someone who tested it and told me that it's working great so far and they get 340 megabytes of ram so thats pretty awesome. I don't know much about the GPU overclock but it should supposedly cause better performance though I don't think I'd like to take risks with it. As l long as it isn't too extreme. Anyways once the kernels released I definitely want to try it and id love to see a jelly bean version as well as a multiboot one

i wanna try the fast version of the kernel but i'm a little bit scaried of the overclock to the GPU 245 (Stock) -->> 260 (Overclock) but like you i think that will improve performance a lot and maybe quality cause of the more ram allocated to the GPU (correct me if i'm wrong) 4MB (Stock) -->> 8MB (DxEngine), the cpu it's not a problem 'cause i won't overclock it more than 1.6ghz. Is it possible to make a kernel where i can choose the frequncies??? Where i can get the control of the GPU?? In CPU Master there is an option called GPU control, but i can't use it 'cause of the kernel of course
im using at for now
but you cant make vidoes in this version that is available for test now
and i also overclocked to 2ghz(i havnt touched 1.7ghz before)
I am booting into windows now to flash it... (Beta 419mb Kernel) I will report back after some gaming and stuffs,

well, i think you've flashed the one with the overclocked GPU, right?? if it's right, please tell me that for now it's all ok for you and all you can notice is that the performance are improved in gaming XD

hehe i won't flash that kernel because i don't want to lose the completely the camera XD i think i'll go for the fast version
well i dont game too much and the rom that im using is not a agming rom too(nxt gb 2)
so i cant say anything about gaming but yes im using the one with overclocked gpu

Lol yea, me 2, but im just testing to see if i should move to it, as i dont use Camera THATT much, and even if i were to it would probably be something Stupidly important, like a Cat, :3
everyone i have some bad news i cant release extremekernel offically because wedgess dosent want me using his sources so i have to rebase on stock and start again which could take another fortnight

Aww man that sucks but I guess wedgess has a point since he put a lot of work into them. Anyways good luck with rebasing. Maybe you could use doom kernel as a base if he gives you permission. If you need help testing the rebased version id be happy to

as i know doomlord will give you permission as gived the permission to wedgess too
Info
The kernel is one of the best I got 'till now , Every game was fluid and smooth but at about 30 frames or so , but now they are like 50-60 , no micro lags no nothing . I have the extreme edition, and I don't know anything about the gpu modifications only about the overclock , but on lupus v12-full Pacific Rim didn't want to start , just like when u try armv7 games on armv6 it quit simply. Now it's just like the others , fluid and good. I use only 1.7 ghz , I could reach 2.3ghz but only when charging and it got VERY hot.
So : Good kernel , High overclock , GPU overclock (very good) , and good ram. A++ from me for this kernel.

Yes I know , It has best balance for a gamer , but I think only the extreme is developed enough to test , my play anyway can't reach 1.9ghz+ without charging so when it's done i'll go with it . I think of dissasembling it and clean and may be implement something of a cooling hole for the cpu but it think it's not the best idea , anyway i did with my s1 in the past (only cleaning) and it gave about 100-200 mhz more .

Hello everyone,
I'm new on this rom installing. And i installed CM11 rom by Mustaavalkosta. I'm playing games like minion rush or jungle heat.. but the games are laggy. How can i gain a performance for games. Thanks for your help.
Sorry for my bad english.
Edit: My phone is Htc Desire HD.
Overclocking could help performance- but be aware that how much you can overclock (or even if you overclock at all) is completely at the mercy of how well your individual CPU was manufactured. If you overclock the CPU beyond its limits, you will break it.
Hmm than it's risky. Because i don't know anything about it and if i try it i can broke my phone. So is there any other way? Thanks for your answer.
