[Q] keep auto connect to LTE - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey!
So my M919V has LTE disabled..basically doesn't have under mobile network and network mode: "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" .
I can't flash tmobile modem due to AUTH: Fail, and secure check fail.
I flashed stock, original i337M rom and it got me the LTE option: under mobile network and network mode: "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" .
then I flashed back the original M919V stock rom. I have the "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" option, but the rom naturally goes to "GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" only, even though the LTE is present.
So, when i pick the LTE option and reboot phone, it switches back to GSM/WCDMA . How do I fix this, i want it to always stay at "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)".
Please help?
im on stock original windmoile 4.2.2 firmware - M919V .

Do you have this APN?

lol Thank you for that, i figured it !
So, i wrote that i only see "Bell internet" APN only.
so im connected to "4G" my rom doesnt say LTE idk why. but i have to manually connect it, like i said in my original post. but it switches to just GSM/WCDMA one after I reboo my phone.
I want it to stay at LTE/GSM/WCDMA, though.

The issue being why isn't the LTE setting locking in after Boot.
The LTE setting is there which you can manually set. But upon Reboot, you have to manually set it again?
Suggestion would be to ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware. Make sure the Firmware is for your ddevice.
ODINing back to stock will flash the stock ROM, Recovery, Kernel and Modem, and get you back to where you were prior to your issue.
If you're running a custom ROM/Recovery, install those afterwards.
But first see if your issues are resolved.

I'm not sure, although I've read about this happening before. To clarify, it used to auto lock, but now it isn't. Can you remember if you made any changes prior to the issue appearing?
App installs, Kernel changes, etc.
I understand you're on stock now, but were any changes made which caused the issue, which prompted you to flash Stock Firmware, but the issue remained?

LTE/CDMA 3G/4G Setting Stuck on WCDMA Preffered

Using the dialer code *#*#4636#*#* I have changed the setting from "LTE/GSM/WCDMA" to "WCDMA Preffered". I did this to see the difference in battery life being connected to HSPA+ & 3G compared to LTE which I was connected to before.
The Problem is the setting is stuck on "WCDMA Preffered". No matter what I do, when I select something with LTE in it if I exit the test menu and go back in with the dialer code it is back on "WCDMA Preffered".
Things I have tried:
1. Re-Flash ROM
2. Flash a different ROM
3. Re-Flash the Modem I747MVLLE8
4. About every possible combination of turning on/off the radio and disabling data connection and rebooting
I'm on Rogers running Ultimatum ROM and Faux's Kernel.
I'm hoping somebody knows of a way to get this setting back even if it involves flashing something with Odin or reformatting my phone or going back to 100% stock. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

In case anyone encounters this I solved the problem by flashing cm10, which has a working toggle in the menu. Im sure using odin to flash the stock firmware would also work.

I'm in the same boat. For some odd reason my ATT S3 is unable to get LTE in any roms except LoserRom and Stock 4.0.1. Even when I update to stock 4.1.1 with Samsung Kies I an unable to get LTE. I've tried CM10 any many other roms, but can't get LTE on them. Also checked the network and mine is stuck on WCDMA Preferred. Unable to change. I would select LTE and it would change it right back even on CM10. Any ideas?
Did you try changing it using the menu in settings when on cm10 or stock JB? Instead of the dialer code.
I used the settings menu in cm10 to change it and the change stuck. Then I used Odin to flash the stock 4.1.1 firmware that I got from samfirmware and it stayed on LTE through that transition. There is also a setting for network mode in the menu's in 4.1.1
Other than that I'm out of ideas.

Yes i did try it on cm10 menu. I go ti the network selection and see it on wcdma preferred. Click it and select the lte. Right when i hit back it changes right back to wcdma preferred. In the stock 4.1.1 its not changeable. It says the default is selected. The only way i can see the options are if i pop the sim up but not out. The phone will say sim removed. When i go to the setting then the options are available.

Just happened to me.. changed it to WCDMA via *#*#4636#*#* and it is stuck there now.. any solutions??
I'm in a similar situation.
I flashed with SynergyROM and the Modem for Rogers and have lost LTE connectivity and the setting is stuck on WCDMA.
It's like punishment for being awesome.
Go to APN settings make up an APN.....then switch to it.....then quickly hit the dialer code *#*#4636#*#* and when you see the radio disconnect ("unknown" network)....switch the toggle.......tada!

There should be a pull down window after you go into device info. that should read lte/cmda/gsm if stock....it will read something else if its "stuck" on something else...
Galaxy S III I747
Go to [Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network operators]
Click on ATT to reregister the network then switch it from lte to gsm/wcdma on Network Mode and it should work but after reboot you have to do it all over again.

Hello I bought my phone off of ebay it was already flashed with tasks rom when I got it and the only problem I have which is very annoying is that it constantly switches from LTE/GSM/CDMA to CDMA only when I goto settings>more>mobile networks...Whenever there is no signal it is set to CDMA only I'm not sure what the problem is but its very frustrurating when I cant make calls when I need to...Is this a known problem? Will I have to revert back to stock?

My carrier is Fido (GSM) its the same as at&t in the US or Rogers in Canada
By APNs do you mean Access Point Names? If so there are three options
Fido Default
fido-core appl1.apn which is the one I use since I use LTE
Fido Internet
internet.fido.ca
Fido tethering
isp.fido.apn

Just checked although its named after the core one it has the LTE settings I've been using LTE fine
Even though the settings were the same I still made a new profile for LTE and its having the same problems Sometimes toggling airplane mode or restarting the phone seems to fix it
Again the problem is that the phone constantly loses signal and the mobile network setting says "CDMA only" if I change it back to LTE/GSM/CDMA sometimes the signal will come back

the fact that your gsm device has built in options for cdma and consistently tries switching to cdma (which is probably why you lose service) tells me something needs to change. on your i747m, what is your baseband version? also, what is your android/task650 release?

oh wow, so you literally just bought that on ebay. unfortunately, when buying a device thats already rooted and running a custom ROM, you dont know the procedures used when that ROM was installed. there's a wrong and right way to do it so as to have a smooth running phone with little or no complications. I would make a backup in recovery and then try a different modem or reflash the ROM and google apps (gapps) again. is the ROM and gapps files (.zips) still on the phone?

I updated the rom the other day and had to reinstall gapps so yes I'll try flashing other radios.
I went to *#*#4636#*#* and set the radio to GSM/LTE and the phone still drops the signal and doesnt change to WDCDMA...
Edit: Update it will switch to WCDMA

Yes I did the full wipe, cache wipe, and dalvik cache wipe.. It still has the same problem after I reflashed I'm going to try and flash different radios now.
If that doesn't work whats the next step reverting back to stock and seeing if that works?

I'll try that but weird thing...I remember reading somewhere too many open apps may cause signal problems and I just killed all open apps when the signal dropped and about 15 secs later signal was back dont know if this was the problem for sure I'll try again if it happens see if maybe I can narrow it down to a particular app or process

Change from lte to h+ on aosp

How can I use only H+ on am soap ROM wit high flashing to a different tom then restoring to a backup...my phone hasn't been making backups correctly and I Dont want to try to restore a backup again till I want to flash another rom
The 3g APN that came with the ROM doesn't work..only the late one
Anyone? I'm desperate for a fix
I think is in Settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode/ and choose your network. Those listed are LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode), GSM only and WCDMA only. Hope this helps.

I am making the assumption you are on AT&T version of the SGS3 based off the fact that your profile shows you with AT&T. If this is the case before you select from network modes, you need to select "network operator". This will take several minutes to find them all and give you a selection. Once it finally populates, you can choose your carrier. I get 3 AT&T options on my phone so I just choose the first one. Selecting anything other than the AT&T network may not work. Once you have done this you should be able to make the network selection stick. This will only last until you reboot and you will need to redo the process over again. I do not know if switching Airplane mode on and off will cause the need to redo it but you can test it out to check.
Thanks! It works! Thanks for your help! i will only have to use this till I can make good backups again

I had similar problem.
I'm on E975 and I was able to get networks connecting manually because LTE is on by default (but it was always droping)
After changing to 3G no more problems. Have you tried this?
P.S. I never tried to solve the 4G issue but probably I need to change APN settings.

Mine doesn't even recognize the network. Can't even search for it manually. I reflashed the KDZ and flashed the baseband still no network :\
Don't understand what you mean... after reboot you get any message? What do you have in status bar? the red cross over the signal icon?
That what I was getting...
You can't go to setting - more - mobile networks - network operators and seach networks? Why, it's grey?

Yeah I;m getting the red cross. When I was in CM 11, I tried searching for networks manually but it would just be a loop. So I reflashed the LGF180S KDZ and I am back to stock. Still I have the red cross and the stock rom does not allow to search for networks manually.

I'm with E975 stock ROM and I have the options to search network, as I mention above and you should have too.
The problem here could be that it's grey and you are not allowed to do it, but the option is there, is that your case?
I'm not sure if I had that before (you know so many flashes...) but I've always solved my issues by restoring to a previous works ROM. I remember that I got GPS issues too and I restore a ROM backup.
I believe that I can't help more

first if you read a little and ask in the Vanir rom thread if you can't see which of the 2 roms are for your phone, you need to have the correct modem flashed to the rom aswell, plus using the right APN's or else you can have network trouble.
i am running stock CM11 on my own E975 and it don't have any mobile network when i do a reboot or a cold boot, but then i go in and search for network and all networks in my country shows up, and i just choose the one i want and i get 3g/4g LTE no problem there

Can't make calls out (Random only on network mode WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect)

Hi.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 model on carrier T-mobile. Lately the phone has gone nuts and will get stuck on dialing out and will never make the call. Everything else works fine. Sometimes I have to soft reset, pull the battery and that will fix it for a call or two, then it will get stuck again. I have contacted T-mobile about this over 5 times and none of them can help. We tried to change the sim, reset the account. Etc and nothing. I have reset the cache, factory reset and even put in a good working sim card from another phone and the same problem comes up. During my latest troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to where I switch "network mode" to GSM only and that can make calls out all the time, but the data stays on E (which then I can't use the internet because it's so slow) When I switch back to auto I am sometimes able to place calls again, but only a few. After I test a few calls and leave the phone for a few minutes the phone will get stuck back on not making calls out and just saying "dialing".
Has anyone had the same problems or know of a fix? Currently I have been trying to flash the modem to different versions to see if that fixes the problem. The first two modems I have flashed did not work and came up with "unknown baseband".
If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it.
This is a known issue with 4.3.. What firmware are you on? Assuming you flashed the correct baseband for your device, the 'unknown baseband' message sounds like you are in 4.3 but what build? You can't flash any modems successfully less than 4.3

I was previously on 4.1.2 when the problem first started. I updated it to 4.3 and still the same problem.
jss15j.t999uvuenc2 build. (I put this one back on last night so at least I can use the phone today when I am at work)
I was just hoping that the device didn't go bad when it was on 4.1.2 because it was working just fine before the problem started.
Was it official update to NC2 by OTA/Odin or you just flashed a ROM?

NC2 was OTA. After doing some searches it said that OTA could of been corrupt, so I went and downloaded KIES and did a reinstall that way.
When I upgraded to 4.3 I tried that default baseband out and had the same problems. That is when I was searching on google and came across this forum and also the thread about flashing modems.

APN is epc.tmobile.com
Network Mode current set to GSM (the only way I can make calls out without the problem occuring)
WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect) is what it should be on so my data is at 4G, but the calls is the problem here
I am not sure but can you check the settings of the Dialer to see if there is ways to choose Lookup providers ?

Nope don't see anything in the dialer about selecting a provider..
Its supposed to be something about Choose Lookup Providers. At least that's the way it is on AOSP.
I suggest Odin flashing the stock NC2 firmware and then factory resetting from stock recovery. (Backup first of course!) If it is still an issue, it will most likely be a hardware problem. From what you have said so far, I believe that you will find this to be the case. Could've been due to damage from a drop, or even overheating at some point. Or it could just be that its simply due to hardware degradation over time.
