I got this epic as a extra phone and I'm trying to find a inactive ROM so I can use WiFi and use it as a gaming and music device.. thanks

I guess not
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
What do you mean by "inactive"? Like the phone is no longer being used for calling/texting and is not on a contract of any sort?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
Exactly.. just looking for a ROM to use as a tablet for games n such.. one that takes up little space.. right now I'm on slim ROMs...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Honestly, that's probably the smallest ROM you'll get, you can remove a lot of stuff from the system like ringtones, notification sounds, etc.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
I let the kids play with my spare Epic as a gaming device. Just keep it in airplane mode w/ wifi enabled. Then I hide the phone app in the launcher so they're not opening it by accident.
I doubt any reasonable amount of space would be recovered by removing the phone app altogether.
Random king made a WiFi only version of thunder hawk... I had it somewhere if I find it I'll happily spread the goods.

Dudes ROMs were pretty intense. My one e4g ran beautifully on thunderhawk.

Okay so just flashed warm 2.2 and I love having launcher pro because of the transition when flipping threw pages and 3d apps when scrolling through the apps. I'm not sure if launcher is something to be running as a daily but I do. It shows great eye candy to my phone which I'm every happy with. Now my question is to save even more battery when I work is to toggle mobile network on top of my kernel I am running. The only thing is I can't find a 1. Widget 2. Shortcut. For it. I hate going into my settings and I do it .. little on the lazy side. so can you help me? Thanks.

There are plenty of free Widgets in the market for toggles to turn off data, wifi, etc.

My Pandora doesn't like to multitask on this phone. When I opened xda app, pandora autoclosed. Same thing with camera, and some other apps. My signal is great so whats going on? Lol

Xheck your RAM and check for settings in any task killer/launcher/apps you may be using including pandora if it has a option to close when RAM gets close to none available it will close out the biggest strain...
When did you get your ET4G TODAY?
also make sure you have the newest version of pandora ;p

Yep, I've got no task killer (other than the preinstalled one). Just got the phone today and I got the latest pandora. Maybe once I root it, it'llsolve the problem itself.

Yes, use it now (Ulitmate) I have found nothing wrong personally. Mine's set for Data on with screen on, Data off screen off.. I don't have a schedule set or anything (i'm always off and on the phone anyway) does increase the battery life a bit.. Download, try it for a bit.. see what you think overall.
I did use it before, just the light version. it was indeed a battery extender. But now I am using ON(X).

Well i have have it on my e4gt and it works great but sometimes it force closes
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Nope. IMO, battery saving apps like Juice defender burn more battery than they claim to save.

What does that app do?

Juice defender WILL help. I get about 24hrs to a charge. It simply disables data/location/wifi when not in use and can be customized to run different ways for different apps
-SlimBean...the bulimic's choice for the Galaxy III
Hope this helps. It's fully customizable and it does wonders. U can train it to learn your wifi and after a while, never touch the toggle again. Use it for games so they don't go online and pick up those annoying ads (if your unrooted). And u can schedule when the net comes on to get emails and so forth when your not touching you phone.

Been using Ultimate from the beginning and if set up correctly is the difference between night and day for battery life. It works very well with no problems whatsoever on my end.
+1 When setup properly it can save a lot of juice. Or turn data off when not needed it will save a little more than using JD. But I rather have JD running so things are seamless. For Streaming audio like Spotify I find setting for enable/screen off works the best.

Be honest and tell people you have an extended battery.
i got a small issue with JD ultimate:
i set it quite correctly i think, but then, it prevents datas from coming to my phone, even when they're enabled.
let me explain better:
i set it so datas are off when screen is off and on when screen is on.
so i turn my phone on, datas take smth like 5 to 10 seconds to enable, everything normal till here, then the small H or G appear meaning i'm connected through 3G, but even then, i'm still offline... i wait, and wait 5 mins, but still, the H or G is visible on top right of my screen but.. no data.
i disable juice defender, restart my phone, didn't solve.
then i uninstall it completely, restard my phone, and everything works fine again...
anyone could help me on this one?
I'm sure some or many of you have heard of this, but the app Greenify is amazing. I just wanted to try and get the word out to anyone experiencing unsatisfactory battery life.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Greenify is great. It lets you hibernate the apps that you are not using without the confusing interface which other apps offer. It's impossible to put yourself into a bootloop using Greenify since your not disabling individual services that the general user might not understand. I've been there and done that using other apps.
By hibernating the apps you're not using, not only do you get better battery life, you also get more free RAM that can be used by other services and applications making the overall experience with the system that much better because you have plenty of memory.

Thank you, your explanation is definitely a lot better than mine ever would have been I also appreciate you putting up a link. I made this thread from my phone and I don't usually create many threads or post much so I'm still trying to get the hanf of it.

It's not too hard. Just minimize the app and open the Play Store, find the app, click share, if you have a clipboard app you can copy the link or do what I do and copy it from the text message option, then pull up XDA and paste.
I kinda made it sound like a sales pitch... but that's just how I explain stuff.

I think its much more user friendly. The app stays in its hibernated state till you use it. No need to defrost, like when freezing. And its not system heavy, or use much ram
This is a very useful app. Nice find.

Data and phone service is two different things
You can get cut off from data on sprint, AT&T, Verizon..etc. and still get phone calls and all....but you wont be able to stream, download..etc

Love Greenify, it's great for annoying apps that like to run all the time in the background, that you use only very occasionally, like Number Guru for example.

All of them! Only ones i don't are the ones i need running in background (dropbox, drive, chrome, maps, Google voice, and a couple widgets that auto update)
No performance hit so far and battery is noticeably better. Gonna add ds battery saver tomorrow and see how far i can push it.

I always Greenify any social networking app since I'm not really too worried about simply refreshing the app once I open it. This method has allowed me to get a solid 4 hours of on screen time with about 15% battery left.

Well, I brought myself to removing my CM10.2 and trying the MIUI ROM. It was a very slick, very smooth ROM. I overall enjoyed it. But with it being a ROM of course it had a few minor bugs. And I did have a few dislikes. So I'm gonna list a few things I personally noticed about it. Fell free to post your thoughts and any resolutions to anything I'm gonna lay out.
PROS:
-a smooth, soft feeling touch that was full of color and a very nice setup. The was miui was set up in settings for example was on of a kind. I was not disappointed. The theme app that was there gave me full control of changing the status bar, lock screen, home screen, etc. You have full control of customization. WiFi also seemed to work just fine.
CONS:
- Sadly, my LTE didn't appear to work. I tried adjusting my setting to fix it. No avail and that kinda was frustrating. But with WiFi working it didn't pose to much of a issue. I also experienced to apps for my gallery, and I was unable to delete it because it was a system app. Some of the themes I downloaded froze my phone, causing me to remove my battery and restart my phone. I wasn't bothered by it to much, I'm rather used to having to do that with previous phone.
Over all if you like a fresh and fast ROM you will love MIUI. But with these few issues I went back to cm. As I need my LTE cause my phone is also a work phone and I need the fastest internet I can get. So feel free to post your thoughts on MIUI and any fixes. Because I would like to switch back and continue using MIUI.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
LTE works you just have to select it in settings when you first flash the rom because it doesn't default on. Reason there are 2 galleries is because MIUI has its own gallery and since we have to use 4.2 camera it comes with its only gallery also hide one in a folder if you dont like one. And theme issue I've never experienced this

Thanks for the advice. Looking forward to flashing back and getting it sorted out

I love the visual development compared to all other ROM.
Looks great.. but I'm still in love with AOSP.
Right out of the box, I think MIUI looks a lot like ios . Maybe too much.
It is a great ROM though, and very user-friendly.
Could I see a screen shot of the phone? Keypad, in call. These are things people over look, but this is our phone is it not? For most if not everyone on here, the only phone they use.
