Check that the back cover (where the sdcard is) is not broken as that is where the antenna is located. If not try cleaning the antenna (the two metal pins in the cover) and see what happens.

Hey people!
I tried searching the forums for this issue but couldn't find anything, so if this is already discussed please forgive me and redirect me.
Anyway, when I am using wifi the 3g connection disappears (which I've set it to) but sometimes, especially after a long while, when I turn the wifi off the 3G connection won't reappear. I tried turning 3G off and on again without success. The only thing that helps is a soft reset of the phone, which is really annoying.
Has anyone else had a similar problem like this?
I did see the other thread about the 3G connection stopping and hanging, but since they at least still had the 3G connection icon in the top bar I consider this to be a totally different issue.
Anyone knows what might cause this?
Thanks!
If you carefully search, this has been discussed many times.
Basically, HTC Desire is not that good on waking up the 3G connection after turned off.
When you use WiFi, the 3G will not be turned off, but it will not be used.
Yes, it happens to me several times ... usually I just "wait" ... 1 or 2 minutes.
Other user said by turning ON then OFF flight mode will help.
Yeah ... this issue is bad
Cheers man. Waiting won't help me since I've waited up to an hour just to see what happens. But I'll try the flight mode trick
Hold the phone with the keyboard out.. if your pointer finger or any part of your hand covers the top of the device (or rather, left in the case of landscape).. does your wifi signal drop..
Often times it will drop signal completely and then come back up. I also noticed that the wifi is extremely sensitive to line of sight.. If the back of the phone is turned away from the access point.. signal drops.. turn around 180.. signal back up again. Its aggrivating.. this is when holding the phone in portrait mode..
Also..the device does not really roam all that well.. I have my wifi aps setup with all the same SSID.. so as you move through the house using lets say, my trusty HD2 running android, it will switch from ap to ap with no drop.. this also depends on roaming tendency (with computers) - but all in all.. it works perfectly. The G2 just drops the connection, and then connects to the next AP..
So.. do you have issues with your wifi?
btw.. The speeds are pretty good.. especially with PM (iwconfig eth0 power off) turned off. Its the link quality that is erratic..
I thought connectbot would be 10x more enjoyable with a keyboard.. didn't know there was a catch
Ive got lots of issues but I'm torn between if it's my phone or my router... My Vibrant does the same kinda crap but not as often as the G2 does. The PC's will be on, but not the phones.
How can I manually set my IP?? I do the Press menu in the WiFi menu and set static IP and specify what I want, but when I click on the network I'm connected to, it shows the IP that the phone chose by itself
There's a thread open here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926132
Yeah, the wireless sucks unfortunately. I've setup a ton of new routers in my home (I have lots of media equipment and stream things constantly) and it's definitely the equipment. Sucks sooooooo much because the mobile radio sucks just as bad!!!
Pretty much every smartphone has this issue. I've noticed that my G2 drops its cellular signal if I hold it on the bottom-left corner.
Signal is fine, problem with wifi on this hardware is much worse than losing signal. When connected to some APs, screen off = wifi off, even when set to always stay on.

I've come across the same issue. Everytime I hold the phone using my lft hand,my coverage drops from H to edge. As soon as switch to my rt hand I get back on H. Also noticed whenever I hold the phone using just my finger tips to top to bottom I always stay on H.
Sent from my CyanogenMod powered G2.
Just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else is having this problem. I'm sitting here watching the phone go through a neverending cycle as follows:
1) 3 bars 3G
2) 3 bars HSPA
3) 3 bars HSPA+
4) 3 bars 3G
5) Signal drops to nothing, empty box, remains like this for more than 30 seconds
6) Signal icon disappears and reappears and begins to reconnect
Rinse and repeat
I don't think that the signal where I am is that great, but I haven't heard anyone else complaining about their signal dropping like this. How can I tell whether this is AT&T or the phone?
Have you Tried...

The first thing i would try is going into your Mobile network settings -->network operators and autoconnect. if that fails there is the infamous battery pull or go into your recovery and run the fix errors. If all of those should fail you try updating your ROM. If that also fails your back to square one. Sorry. I have had similar issues in the past and it ain't fun but finally went away.

Exact same issue on Galaxy Nexus w/at&t & CM10.1.0 stable. Wiped, Rolled back to CM10.0 and it went away, then wiped and tried to install CM10.1.0 RC2 and the problem came back... That's a ROM I'd used for months without an issue. Tried Radios, RIL... Just Completely baffled.
Hi there
I've faced a problem since. I lose my antenna signal (on both 3g & 2g or auto connect) frequently, then when antenna signal bars return, suddenly screen flashes to black and back then I lose antenna bars again. and this happens for a while till it gets restart almost every time this happens.
I see multiple wired things also; while screen flashes,
sometimes some apps would stop working like instagram, battery docter, goole & google gesture and ...
sometimes i see a notification stating my sd card is damaged and needs format! (some times sd card is empty!)
and like that...
while restarting when samsung logo or even note 8 logo comes up, I see these flashing screen continus
I guess these happens while I am at areas with not very satisfying signals, although I had this problem while I had no sim card in it too!
what is wrong guys?
Note 8 5100
android 4.4.2 official ROM
(I thought of it as a software problem and upgraded to kit kat but no chance!)
I am also experiencing similar issues.
Sudden signal drop, screen flickering, rebooting without prompts. After that the apps installed in the sd card wont load for most of the time.
Plus device overheating and battery draining (did the battery pull trick and have been doing ever since, sometimes 2x a week!).
really hope somebody could chime in for a solution.
PS, thinking of flashing new ROM, but havent decided which one yet. Will this help at all?

Donno... I know if the battery is weak or bad, the screen will flash randomly when power is needed. Example 1600mhz is used durring boot and home screen loading. As for non wifi connection for data, that will consume power like the CPU running at max.
It may be time to replace your battery. Especially if you have pulled the plug a few times. The wires and plug are brittle. Found out when messing with the used Note 8.0 I got on ebay that had 4.4.2 loaded.
hi guys , today i buy a p8000 when i put simcard into the phone after a short time signal is come but when i lock phone and display turn off, after 3 or 5 minutes signal is lose can any one help me ?! ( im so sorry about my writing language , im very very noob in english )
Does it come back itself or do you have to reboot? My signal drops off from time to time but it's a network thing as the other sim is usually still OK.
