For those who have bricked their Defys and can't revive it!!

I have a brand new Defy, barely a month old. And since i found it so easy to mess around with my Milestone i went right ahead and tried to flash a new custom rom into my "barely out of the box" Defy.
After flashing the new rom my phone wouldn't start at all!! I freaked!!
Theere it lay, totally dark and blank screen with the white led on and only the comp and RSD Lite being able to detect the phone in the bootloader mode. Volume Up/Down w/ Power didn't do anything! Nor did anything else!
After a whole day of frantic thread searching and googling, i still couldn't find any answer! I could see that people actually returned their phones or just gave up!
Finally, i started to serach for the original rom that came with my phone but even after hours of searching i couldn't find a single copy of it! Just before i gave up, in one last attempt i found the only copy of my original rom and i flashed it and it worked!!
So if all else fails, please keep a note of your exact rom version and flash it back to unbrick your phone.
Hope this helps someone out there who freaked out the same way i did..

hi! what can i do, with my defy, before the phone have 2.3.6defy+ software, i try to downgrade, then i have a phone just like you. now i dont know what rom i must flash the phone.
can you help me with a sugetion, i was tried a lot of thinks(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618718&page=4), but nothing..... i hope you can help me.

[Q] Unbrick hard-bricked SPH-L710

Hello all!
Well, looks like I hard-bricked my phone. It will not boot into download or recovery mode. What do I do?
I tried using quite a couple sd-card guide, but no avil.
I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345860 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125
Also, if it will help, I got a full backup of boot, cache, data, recovery, and system in ".win" files. I cannot load it the "simple" way (through TWRP) since I cannot even get into recovery.
Please help me fix this without using a JTAG service, because there is always the question of wheater I will get my phone back once it is fixed.

YAHOO!! I got this problem solved with the help of zachf714, invisiblek and a special thanks to xstefen for providing a working debrick image. Here is the link to the working debrick image that xstefen provided: http://download.xstefen.net/getdownload.php?file=./xstefen/mmcblk0_backup.bin.zip. all you need to do, is write this image to a micro SD card using linux's
Code:
dd
command or Win32 Disk Imager. Then put the sd card in your phone, boot into download mode and flash a stock ROM using Odin.
Wish anyone else who have this problem luck.
P.S. I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone because of this.

Yes, it was using stock OS version 4.3. Now I already installed a custom OS based on 4.4 Kitkat.

WHY?!
Why am I always so close to a solution on these forums, and then discover the links are dead?!
I am suffering from the 4.3 problem. Can someone please post a working link? I know I'm relying on your good graces, but some of these hosts are rubbish.

[Q] Need help bringing phone to stock so I can get Lollipop

Hi, in my attempts to get Lollipop from the stock rom of 4.4.4, I have severely screwed up my phone. I have tried a bunch of stuff, and I want to just wipe everything and start over. When I turn it on, it stays stuck at the green HTC logo.
When I try to run the RUU to either upgrade to Lollipop or even downgrade to get my phone working again, it gets stuck on the Sending... screen after rebooting the first or second time.
I am able to use fastboot and also get into TWRP recovery. I hope the screenshots and info provided are enough, but please let me know if I can provide more.

Looked for stock images in the internet? I think you will find one which is directly from HTC.
But why don't use CyanogenMod to get the version?

Well that's what I'm trying to do is the RUU for a stock rom. And nah, I don't wanna use CyanogenMod (unless you mean that will help me get back to stock somehow)? Thanks anyway!

You could download a twrp backup and restore back to stock..

from the first screenshot (bootloader), the red OS line with two versions means the flash didnt go through properly!! (the hboot preupdate worked but the second flash wasnt done)
and it looks like you're on AT&T US, so use the following RUU:
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...40.45.C33065.00_F_release_426617_signed_2.exe
make sure you have this installed http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29
(otherwise the RUU will just exit)
no need to relock or anything with S-OFF (and absolutely stay S-OFF!!)
PS: running RUU will obviously wipe everything off your phone and also put back stock recovery, so you'll need to flash back TWRP once the RUU is done

I was getting errors trying to download language packs for Swiftkey, Facebook wouldn't even open, etc. I'm currently trying the RUU, but it's doing what it had been doing in the past.

how long are you waiting? it does take some time...
otherwise, you'll need to flash firmware using fastboot (in ruu mode), cause currently your firmware is in a state of limbo, so not good place to be in
EDIT: the ruu log should be in C:\ruu_log\ folder, you could take a look at the file and see if/where it's hanging

Try Kingoroot, Framaroot, and Towelroot

I had success on this device with Kingroot, just be careful with OTA updates from Blu when you have rooted

I don't know how affiliated you are with blu-dev.com, but you wouldn't happen to know where a guy could find the stock software for the Blu Advance 4.0L? The last OTA update from Blu bricked me and factory reset from the stock ecovery didn't do anything :crying:

I got one too but it has 4.4.2 kikat on it,I rooted it with Kingroot and it still works Whew..!
So my question is first of all, if I use a root tool to root a phone then where is the password for root ? I want to change it to something secure obviously so someone in china does not have root control of my device as well as thousands of others. I used the newest version 4.5 and it installed at least 2 other apps that I want to toss as well.Another question ,Even though I got it rooted it is incapable of moving apps to SD and seems the ROM was stripped of the capability intentionally.Is there an alternate custom ROM for this device?

Any custom recovery for this phone??? This would be greatly appreciated Im smart enough to flash one just dont know how to port one read thw guides so no links to doing it my self just help please

I too have a Blu Advance 4.0L that hasn't yet been rooted. Much like everyone else I run out of room after installing a single game, despite having a 8gb sd card in the phone. Pathetic how Google designed this, ain't it?
Tried moving the apps to the sd card, managed to install another small game and once again out of room. Is my best bet rooting the phone? Scared to do it now seeing how it can be bricked, should Blu update it as Deuler93 has learned the hard way.
Wtf is the use of a phone if you can't install apps to it? Is this the norm with Android phones? I'm used to iphones and still scratching my head trying to understand how incredibly pathetic Android is, if in fact you are unable to take advantage of the space in the sd card. Am I missing something? Can it really be this retarded?

BLU Advance OTA Problems
Hello Guys !
I have a BLU Advance 4.0 A010L and I just received an OTA update.
The package seems to be corrupted on the source (BLU servers), because I am receiving an error when the phone try to apply the update :
Have anyone here faced the same problem ?

Hey you might want to take the time to learn how to back up the user data through the recovery and then if you need to you could just do a factory reset before updating. Yours seems to be different but when I tried to update mine, it was have problems getting and unzipping the update. Eventually it seemed to work but now it just says "no command". If yours still works, try turning it off, and turn it on while holding the volume down button. Go into recovery mode, and that will give you some options to explore.

kingo root worked for me on the global version of 4.0l twice now actually. first time pc method 2nd by apk. still cant unlock bootloader though.

it took a couple of attempts with kingo root for me, then I used the supersu me app to transfer control to SuperSU

this phone uses an mtk chipset so if you look around for an auto compiler for the recovery of your choice you should have no problems.... you can also look around i beleive this phones an mtk6752 and easily port a rom using a kitchen

Phone keeps freezing

A few days ago my phone all of a sudden started freezing and I could not do anything except use the home button to turn it off or reboot it. I used my backup that I made last week and it fixed the problem until today where it started happening again. I left my phone off wifi and when I woke up in the it was fine until i turned wifi back on but now it still freezes when im not on wifi. So i have no idea what to do but if anyone knows and can help me it would be great. LG-D852 Lollipop 5.0.1 Rooted.

im a little unfamiliar with android roms but is the kdz a stock rom? whats the sat?

Yes try flashing your kdz if it still does it sounds like a hardware issue but 9 outa 10 is some software issue

I wiped it from system settings and i still have the issue but it got a little better. I dont know where to get the kdz for stock 5.0.1

1) Type this in your browser http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b...heck2.jsp?esn=IMEI
2) Replace IMEI with your IMEI phone's code
3) The browser will display some html codes
4) Look for text something like :

5) Text is your download link

I get an error on the site and it says communication with the server is not smooth. Isn't there another way to get the kdz?

U may not have a 5.01 kdz or tot
I have a d850 and far as i l know all i have 4.4.4 .tot file u can use a older one for all u know it could be something in ure update 5.0.1. U can use a older one the root it get bumped twrp then flash ure 5.0.1 rom to it

Dont try this guys site i know he may be trying to help dont ever give out ure iemi. I have never seen this before and the sites having issues i never seen nor heard of this site and its also in error sounds fishy plus i dont remeber been a while but i swear there were some people sscammin iemis a while back clonin phones so just be safe follow my link for you device

My 5.0.1 was built from a guy that makes his own stock roms. He gave it to me to flash after I had a software update on 5.0.

Should I just switch to custom rom? Haven't used one since I used paranoid Android on my s3 back in 2013

This all started when I tried to open the cbs sports app from the widget and it didn't respond so I closed it then played a game and got a phone call while playing but the answer button wouldn't respond probably due to the twilight app running. When twilight is running you can't side load apps it won't recognize that you're tapping on the install button. Anyways after I was unable to answer the phone call the notification in the tray wouldn't go away so I tapped on it to take me to the phone app but it closed right away and that's how this all started. I used my nandroid backup I made last week and that seemed to fix it for a few days

Ok so try to freeze all your user apps and defrost one bye one try to leave the app where the problem started towards the end i dont try to tell people to use a diffrent rom cause more than likley your are about like 99 % of people in the world and im one so no hypocrits here when we try a new rom we get so used to 1 specific setup first thing ure prob gonna do is redownload or restore all your old apps in order to "get your phone back in running order" i do it to may even try safe mode try disabling the apps that u noticed and see if that helps cause aparantly u like your rom or you woulda done changed but in my opinion i like every few months restoreing my phone stock tot methon and doing fresh. Install but again i end up with all the same apps tweaks and mods

I can't freeze any apps. Don't have the option to. It can stop working in any app.

Id make sure i backup any music pics or vids to ext sd and do a full wipe including int sd then flash new rom then

All my music and pics are already on my ext SD. And I'll backup the apps I want to

I wiped my whole internal and installed fulmics Rom and it still froze but took a lot longer

I installed fulmics rom and it has only froze once but some apps dont respond and thats how it all starts. i did do a clean wipe and i wiped my internal.

man im at a loss unless its deeper in the partition tables and when it comes to that ive really never just retored partition other than tot method or the hard brick pin ground
