UCAMC3 vs UCAMH3 speed results
just another data point for folks... attached screenshot are the results from a quick modem speed test (using SpeedTest.NET). Just prior to upgrading my modem to UCAMH3, I ran speed tests on my current modem (UCAMC3)... then flashed the MH3 modem, and re-ran tests (same local server, immediately after flashing new radio). Results will obviously vary on your personal situation (geographic location, phone setup, etc); however for me the MH3 patch significantly improved my WiFi download speed (173%) and WiFi upload speed (24%). It was a basically a wash on MC3 vs MH3 HSDPA speeds. Ran 2 tests each on WiFi and 2 tests each on HSDPA (on both modems)... then averaged the results. Ping speeds were also significantly improved. Take it for what it's worth, but for me, appears the patch addressed WiFi speed improvement.
Thanks to 147aaron (for pulling the MH3 modem.bin) and Guitarboarder28 (for packaging the flashable zip).

Doesn't work for me. Unknown baseband shown after flashing. Data doesn't turn on. Phone then reboots after about 1 min.

What is an RIL?

RIL = Radio Interface Library...opinions on this vary greatly, but typically you should use a matching RIL for your modem for best results and battery life.

Boost Mobile Variant of Galaxy S3

I recently purchased the boost mobile variant of the galaxy S3, i have got it rooted and custom recovery but none of the ROMS for sprint are working correctly, is there a development started yet? Ive tried several roms and things not working range from camera to 4G, to just overall sluggishness. If anybody knows a good rom thats working for the boost model, or knows how to get working 4G, i have tried flashing a backup of my stock modem.bin file over odin, but it fails at the end. any help is appreciated!

yes I have the same problem but when I asked boost mobile about it they told me that they haven't upgrade the signal towers to get 4G LTE on all areas and this will be done by the end of the year so the only thing i don't know exacly the date they are planing on doing this(because I used to have the GS2 and that one does conect to 4G but it's not an 4G LTE like the GS3).

Ok folks, here's my request. I'm so close to getting a zip ROM for the Boost variant, but I need a few things. Could someone contact me either on here or in PM and provide a copy of the Boost boot animation files and the build prop from a Boost S3, not one from another carrier that's been flashed to Boost. I got a zip to boot today, but it bootlooped. Not because of these files, but if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right, and the backup I'm using to make the zip is Boost, but the build.prop says d2vmu, and I want to make sure I'm using the right one. Thanks in advance everyone. Let me know!

[Q] 4.3 aosp cm 10.2 slow data speeds? newer gs3

Hey everyone,
Got a small problem, I just flashed the latest 10.2 cm nightly because I want a true aosp ROM on my "newer" gs3. Since flashing the ROM my data speeds have significantly slowed. I came from the 3.9.5 dandroid touchwiz and had fantastic 4g lte speeds for my location (about 4.5 MBS) now on the cm nightly I'm barely breaking 1 MBS and that's if I even receive my lte connection. I tinkered with the APN setting and am running on the sprint lte internet APN but isn't helping much. Is it a radio issue?
Thanks guys
Did you take note of what your baseband and what each kernel was in each rom? Is every ROM using the same baseband or is one possibly using an older version? What does the signal strength say as well? That would be under settings>about> or something like that. Current baseband is MD4.

base brand
My base brand on this ROM is l710pvbjl7 not md4, do I need to flash a new kernel to change this? Also its says LTE in signal status or 3g but only 1 bar and very weak
Do you have custom recovery?
Do you have your data backed up?
If you can do a nandroid I would and try flashing the baseband, it might make a difference. You can always nandroid back then.
EDIT: This is where you can find the MD4 firmware. It is at the end of the first post... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947

Baseband is stored in places that rom flashes do not touch. They are independent of each other, and I've yet to see a dev even mess with installing a particular modem when you install their rom.

Yup, only OTA's will contain both firmware (modem, etc) and the updated software
Go to Google play store and download network info II. There will be a tab with your signal dBm. What does that say? You might be having the same issue from my other thread.

I always appeared to have slower download speeds via Speedtest.net. Try Sensorly (they just had a large update) and their speedtest servers are awesome. I pulled 30+ in a spot I usually get 23-25. You may find it's the way Ookla's speedtest app is run in AOSP.

4.4.2 KitKat-OmniROM - Mobile Network/ Baseband/IMEI/ Sim Card Problems

Hello all,
Recently flashed the latest OmniROM 4.4.2 KitKat on a Rogers i747 from a 4.3 CarbonROM, but as a result, I no longer have any mobile network connection whatsoever. Can't even make an emergency call. Wifi does work though.
I'm running:
omni-4.4.2-20140205-d2att-HOMEMADE
CWM 6.0.4.7
SuperSU 1.91
and flashed the latest bootloader boot_CWM_I747MVLUEMK5 as I was getting a status 7 error before I did this when flashing the ROM zip.
When I go into Mobile Network settings, it says insert SIM and restart if I try to access Mobile Plan (already tried)`, IMEI and basband is unknown. Basically everything in the phone status menu is unknown or disconnected. I am unable to add APN settings for some reason as I can enter it all but it will not save.
I haven't tried flashing a different radio yet and I cannot seem to find much through searches.
If more info is required for a diagnosis I'll try my best to provide it.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated
Cheers!

PLEASE KEEP FOR VISIBILITY
your post saved my phone. I recently flashed a CM11 nightly (cm-11-20140211-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip), was forced to update my bootloader using "boot_CWM_I747MVLUEMK5" in order to do so (would get failed prop bootloader error), and when i booted the phone i lost all signal as well.
Lost IMEI, unknown baseband. Tried to inject IMEI to no avail all day, until i saw this post, with such a simple fix.
THANK YOU

You need to find a flashable modem for your phone. Then flash it with twrp cwm or what ever the custom recovery for your phone is.
This forum is for the Samsung galaxy S3 SGH-I747 and SGH-I747M. You should go to the galaxy note forum. I am sure there is some stuff in the development section or read some stickies and the search function is your friend.

Hi!
I've a similar problem, my i747m is unlocked with "123Unlock.nl" and i recently update my OS to 4.3 but i can't connect to the 3G/LTE network, i've already tried with TELCEL and IUSACELL chip and 3 differents ROMS but i can only use the 2G network, before i unlocked my phone i used the phone with TELCEL (LTE).
Anybody has any idea what could it be?

Im sorry but why make the same ROM 3 times? There all equivalent, sure changes but could be implemented in one solo ROM no need to make 3 ROM thereads, just updates. If other devs did their work like this will have many ROMs by the same dev. I just dont see no need? Anyhow no disrespect.

No... one point u r right why 3 post? But this is the final one ... As I said this is daily driver. On the other hand with in hundreeds of ROMs none of the post stay more than 2 weeks. All of them gets lost. Any ways... Thanks for your compliment.

Will this erase the sd card on intall?
Not from your external SD. Best you back up your data and restore right after install this 5th element. That will merge all ur data .Other wise you cannot do dirty flash. It does clear system and data for the clean installation.

We Canadians don't have separate forum. As T-Mobile and N900W8 have LTE its very much vice versa to flash this ROM except CSC as this assigned only for Canadians network.
Its a shame We don't have any forum last version of Note 2 post was always listed in AT&T and now in T-Mobile. Sorry for any inconvenience guys...
But this is not the end of the world right?? We are all sharing our experience in the forum and that the main motive right?

Remix is mixed from At & T and Mexico 4.4.2 APKs
Deodexed and Ziplined some of them and some of them not.
Wifi crashed or forget some point.
But 5th Elements is Odexed simply DE bloated and wifi issue has been fixed. Themed also blue. Other than that its runs faster and smoother.
Will it work on T-mobile
So will this work on my T-mobile though? lol Thanks for any feedback.
As I don't have T-Mobile note 3. I didn't try.

I am runing remaxed, no wifi problems. Whats remaxed?
I noticed if u use stock kernel u will have some issue on remaxed. But 5th element is good with custom or stock. Everything works perfect. Just use wanam xpos to get some more feature...

I have just tried and its working.... If you cant download then I assume you have some network prob. Also I have tried to download straight from my Note 3 and its working. So please check your firewall settings and your network settings.
And also please don't disrespect any person without knowing the reality. If a developer can build a ROM he definitely know how to put the file correctly.
Thanks

[Modem] ATT I317UCUCNJ1 11/14

Works good in California for me

Thanks!
UCUCNJ1 vs UCUCNE5 modem results
I took the new AT&T modem (UCUCNJ1) for a spin. Attached screenshot are the results from a quick and dirty modem speed test (using SpeedTest.NET). I'm currently running the NE5 deodexed firmware, so just prior to upgrading modem to the new UCUCNJ1, I ran speed tests on current modem (UCUCNE5)... then flashed the NJ1 modem and re-ran tests (same local server, immediately after flashing new radio). Results will obviously vary depending on your personal situation (geographic location, phone setup, etc). For me (NorCal area) the NJ1 and NE5 modems exhibited almost identical performance (+/- a few percentage pts). I ran 4 simple tests each on WiFi and same 4 tests each on mobile LTE (on both modems)... then averaged the results (for last test, I reflashed NE5 back). Take it for what it's worth (again, you need to test in your geographic location), but for me, download/upload times were nearly identical and both performed admirably.
Thanks to dicksteele for pulling the UCUCNJ1 modem.bin and packaging it in a flashable zip.

I don't see a difference in speed but good to have latest and working modem with our old NT2.
Thanks
@dicksteele
Thanx for pulling the modem from the ota.:good:
I'll add this to the modem list in the one stop.
Can I flash this on a i317m (telus Canadian carrier) ? I have such crappy signal. Goes from 3G to DC always.

Sweet, thanks. You happen to have to OTA? Or know where it is? I wanna pull the updates outta the framework to add them to SaberKat when I update. I looked, not super hard to, haven't had time but when I saw this thought you probably knew. Thanks again for the modem

I'm a Canadian on Bell, currently running NF1. Going to give this a shot and let you kids know!
I posted the NF1 over in the modem thread a few months ago and its been kinda meh. A lot of drops.

This does NOT work with the i317m. I have zero service and it doesn't recognize the baseband. Going back to NF1.
Sorry for the double post, XDA One doesn't let you edit posts, yet
