I know with newer phones you no longer call the *228 on Verizon to update "roaming capability." I hardly ever restart my phone unless I've been having issues with it.
Does the PRL update automatically without the phone restarting, or only during a restart?

Thanks. So does that mean it only updates when the phone is restarted, or is that just a way to force it to update? So if I leave my phone on without restarting it for 6 months, I'll still have an old PRL?

My wife's Nitro is always searching for new networks. Even when at home connected to our home network. Because of this, her battery only lasts about two hours or so. Any ideas?

You may want to reflash your baseband and firmware in order to reset everything to default and go from there. Do not make a backup of your settings, because after flashing, you will run into the same problem again.
Good Luck
Actually she just got it back from LG. They supposedly just did that.

AT&T right? What ROM is installed on it? (Check under System settings > About phone > Android version if you aren't sure.)
Yes it's AT&T Android version 4.0.4

Perform a factory reset on it, like this:
Turn the phone completely off. Then hold down the volume down and power buttons at the same time. Keep holding them (~10 seconds) until it asks you if you want to perform a factory reset. Let go, then press the power button twice to confirm. (Yes, this will clear all settings and apps on the device.)
Tks. I'll give that a shot when I get home. I'll post the results. Thanks again!
Got a Note 3 last November, everything ran great, a few weeks ago the phone would show full signal with 4g LTE icon and everything but it cant make/receive call/text. No data whatsoever.
Airplane mode does not toggle it just grey out after activation. When trying to make a call it wouldn't go through and the call just get stuck, hitting the end button doesn't do anything. Everything is back to normal after a reboot, but the same thing would happen again every 2-3 days and would require another reboot.
CSR tried to resetting things on their end but that didn't fix it, got a new SIM, a replacement phone from Tmobile it does the same thing but less frequent.
Anyone else experience this? I'm about to get another replacement . Running latest T-mobile firmware/baseband no root/mods.

I also got a Note 3 just 2 weeks ago. Same thing happened to my phone and I thought it was ROM that I had flashed. It has gone away but I am still wondering what was causing such symptoms.
I would see LTE but when I try to make calls there is no sound, not even rining and it would never go though. Someone would call me and my phone would not ring. Same with data, when all others get instant messages in a group chat, my note 3 would be the only one not receiving any messages.
It would stay this way until reboot. When the phone restarts then everything is back to normal. This was very very annoying because you would never know when your connection is lost.
Did you have to reboot to get it back?

Yeah I had to reboot every time it did have those symptoms.
My note 4 randomly freezes and goes to black. It also randomly restarts, gets stuck, and then restarts again. It's very annoying, if I want to check something, I hit the home button and the phone is frozen on the lock screen. Random apps are also crashing but instead if just closing the app my phone's screen just shuts off and I can't get into the phone for at least a minute. I don't know what the problem is and I really don't want to factory reset my phone.
I would pull the battery and take out the SD card (if you have one) and sim card and boot it up and see if that helps.
If u r using de-bloatware app then try restoring all the apps.
Factory reset, don't install anything and see if it continues. Then start installing a couple of apps till it happens again, try to identify the offending
App.
Same here.. Just started happening 2 weeks ago.. I have yet to find the offending app. ****ing ATT and their ****ty note 4 ughhhh
Happening to me too. Even after factory reset, and in Safe mode. I think it is from the June 16, update. I plan on taking it in to the att store and having them flash the new update to the phone. Thinking maybe my over the air update got screwed up somehow.
I put mine on ultimate power saving mode at night to keep it from dying since I forgot my charger. When I woke up, I tried to turn off ultimate power saving mode, but the option was gone. I rebooted and it got stuck at the att boot logo. I took it to the att store and they said I'd have to file a claim on insurance and that they can't fix it.
I cane home and connected it to adb to see if I could back up my files. Without sending a command to it, it wiped itself and factory reset. I lost everything, but since then I have had no issues.
Mine started doing this a couple of weeks ago. Factory reset twice, sd card out. Still doing it. Had to go back to note 3. With sd card and sim card out it seems to work ok on WiFi only.. No stuttering or force closes since?

Mine was doing the same thing. Turns out the battery was taking a crap. New battery and no more issues. For myself at least.
Mine is unusable. It boots into download mode half the time after factory reset. When I get it to boot up it only lasts for 15 minutes then resets again and gets stuck

Try what I did accidently. Connect to your pc. Boot into recovery lode and see if you can connect with adb. Then connect to with adb sideload and let it sit there. Maybe send a few commands and see if it will do like mine. It might get it to unhang. You might lose everything if it restores, but it might do like mine.

Mine mostly ok, albeit chained to at&t FIRMWARE, but I do get an odd eeror: when in a call the phone will make a a keypad tone,as though I'm leaning on the keypad [not], often mid-Bluetooth handsfree calls. It last 2-4 seconds, long enough to interrupt the flow of a call. anyone ?
I have had tons of apps update as of late. I too am experiencing lag, lock ups, black screen. I thought I was alone.
Had a friend's Note 4 do the same only he was on Sprints network. He was not rooted and on MM. I tried a factory reset and it helped for an hour or two then it went back to random rebooting or apps freezing. I tried flashing factory software through ODIN. It was good for an hour then went back to random reboots and apps freezing. I tried another ODIN flash without restoring any of his apps and the same thing happened. I tried changing the battery and that wasn't it, I removed the SD card and that wasn't it either.
He had to take it to Sprint and they ended up just giving him an S7.

I started having this problem just after the update. I tried to switch the battery out and tried to take SD card out. I factory reset it about 3 times now. Nothing has solved it.
I took it into AT&T, and even though I'm not under warranty anymore (had phone for almost 2 years now), they worked with me and ended up giving me a new s7.
I suggest you go talk to AT&T because this is a problem with all AT&T Note 4's. Tell them you want it fixed and talk to the managers and get them to contact the corporate help desk. Don't leave without them fixing it. You paid $900 for this phone.
Gave you a new S7? Or swapped it out on a next contract?

I did not pay a dime. But you have to show them that it freezes and crashes even after they factory reset it
Just left an [email protected] store. He looked at me like I had 3 heads. He had never heard of such. Will call corporate and work my way down.
I did hold a S7 edge.... it was a thing of beauty and speed. No ir though... it's why I like note 4
Works without sim
I've had the exact same issues, (Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T). Tried factory reset, wiping cache, re-flashing with odin, removing SD card, removing apps, multiple batteries, etc.... the only thing that has worked so far is removing the SIM card. It runs flawless without it. Currently using my S3 for calls and text and use the note 4 like a giant iPod touch on wifi only. Hoping this is a software issue AT&T will correct but knowing them..... best bet is probably to wait until August and get the new Note 7.
Why not try the MM update that is out right now, it´s not an OTA but by just renaiming the file to update.zip, putting it in your ds card and applying it through recovery you will have a practically new phone, it´s worth the try.
I´m ruuning it and it´s been great so far, no bugs, no errors.
My phone is showing another update for the Verizon Turbo 2. Install time is 10 minutes, so it must just be security patches.
EDIT: There is a new splash screen, it appears. Here is a link to some information: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/new-verizon-moto-droid-turbo-2-update-brings-latest-security-patches/
Still just Android 7.0. Security patches as of May 1, 2017. Kernel version is 3.10.84-perf-g9664ee4 as of May 15th.
Seems i have a bug with this update, every time i turn airplane mode off my Bluetooth turns on, can anyone else confirm this?
I believe it has broken hotspot. I am grandfathered in to unlimited and use the SIM card method to enable hotspot daily. It did not work after several tries this morning.

I don't believe that I have this issue. I have BT on, as well as WiFi, and when I turn airplane mode on they both shut off. When I turn airplane mode off, they both come back on. Isn't that how it should work?
I meant try leaving Bluetooth off, turn airplane mode on and back off, Bluetooth should stay off but it comes on instead.

I am having the exact same problem right now, does anyone have a solution?
I allowed the update to my DT2 last night and my hotspot is working normally.
Jweiss, do you have a hotspot subscription or are you ejecting the SIM card to enable it?
Jimmy888, my bluetooth stays off if I turn on airplane mode, then off. I don't seem to have that issue.
I am doing nothing special. I am going to the hotspot icon, enabling it, (I had setup the SSID & password first) then connecting a tablet and laptop to the hotspot and successfully using them. I have Verizon XL package and am not paying extra for hotspot and am definitely not messing with the SIM.
The last update I allowed in the spring created issues with my phone. I've had it less than a year and the charging port quit working. Verizon sent me a replacement. Within 2 weeks, the camera worked improperly. I've received another one, and had this one over a month. It randomly reboots at least 3 times a week. Suggestions? Will this update help or make things worse?
I applied this update on 06/07, and my DT2 has restarted twice already since then. Anyone else see this?

First, apologies you lost your hotspot.
Second, thank you for letting us know. Sucks there's always a hotspot casualty when it comes to non-rooted phones taking updates.
Holding off for now. Hotspot is a part of life and I refuse to double pay on data.
Anyone else notice any battery life issues after this update?
I am not having any of the issues that others are reporting.
I had some serious battery issues after the update. Battery would at 15% 2hours after a full nights charge. Ended up getting a Samsung 8 yesterday. But I miss my DT2, and looking to see is there is a fix
Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing issues, found this thread on the Motorola forums.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/486/page/1/thread-id/7038
Seems like the June 5th update broke something. Hopefully a fix comes out soon, unless Motorola decides to ignore it.
I'm still waiting for them to fix the first round of bugs they introduced with Nougat and they introduce more...
If only the turbo 2 was rooted, we would be able to downgrade to Marshmallow.
My DT2 is also experiencing issues since the April (Spring update). The June update only made things worse. It will no longer charge with the original supplied charger. I have a newer one from a Samsung phone that works most of the time but not always. I'll set it at night and wake up to a dead phone. Even while plugged in, and using the phone, battery life goes down! A few times while using the camera, the phone just shut itself off. The phone also randomly shuts off even if battery life is at 30%. I spoke to Verizon about it and they said pay it off and buy a new one. Too bad for you.
DT2 after security update
Updated with Motorola security update on 9/6 and lost ability to receive pic texts. Today lost ability to receive any texts. On phone for 2 hours with Verizon - no help. They want me to do a factory reset. I see others have already tried that with no success. This is crazy!
Been in Scotland last few days and had no issues using data last couple days until now. I went up to the highlands where signal wasn't great and I had the phone in airplane mode but now that I am back in Edinburgh and know I get signal here it'll connect for 10 seconds than disconnect. No data or phone calls. Roaming wasnt turned off or anything. I already shut off my phone and reset mobile data setting.

Maybe try taking the sim out and resetting mobile data again, power off(or hold power 10+ secs to reset). Reinstall sim and power back on. Also take a look in phone testing, dialer *#*#4636#*#* => phone information.
