[Q] Stock Messaging App won't send text messages - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm a noob.
I had installed the app GV Integration after rooting my phone. I stopped using the stock messaging app for quite about a year.
The app has messed up my stock messaging app - it doesn't send text messages without the GV Integration app installed, anymore. ( I tried following the instructions for disabling integration before uninstalling the app but it doesn't work.)
I can send text messages using other messaging apps such as Facebook messenger, but not using the stock messaging app. I can still send MMS messages using the stock app.
I tried using other mms.apk files in to system/app folder but the same problem persists. What can I do to fix the stock messaging app?

Duplication issue with SMS Popup

I've installed SMS Popup so that I get notifications when I receive text messages.
Now the issue is that I've intalled ChompSMS alongside the standard messaging app, which means that when a text message arrives, I actually get two pop up boxes: one from ChompSMS and one from the default app.
Is there any way to stop this? Can I 'assign' SMS Popup just to work for one of the messaging systems?
Cheers,
SMS Popup, like ChompSMS and the default Messaging client will only intercept incoming SMS messages once.
You need to make sure you have notifications disabled in ChompSMS AND the Default messaging client if you are using SMS Popup.

MMS issue

I've tried searching on the forum and google but cant find an answer.
Using Go SMS.
I am able to send and receive mms with stock message enable while using go sms.
If I disable the stock message and and strictly use go sms I am unable to receive mms.
I have tried setting up the apn again and using the mms settings within the app. No luck to get it to work.
Perhaps the program can not work with mms? Try to contact the developer of Go SMS.
Android has always needed the stock SMS app to send MMS, even when using third party SMS apps, don't disable the stock SMS app, just disable the notifications in the stock SMS app and keep using your preferred third party SMS app.

[Q] (XS) How to send sms with the stock sms app to a specific contact

Hi guys, i had a clean install of the latest update, and when i tried to send an SMS to a contact i chose Facebook Messenger and Always. How can i change it to the stock SMS app?
Go to facebook messenger in the app list, select it, scroll down and you should find "Clear Defaults" or something like that. This is the procedure to remove the "always" setting of any app by the way.

Messaging app

After root, it seems the default message as app is the only message app that can send SMS. I've tried mood, Pulse and messages (Google)
did you set your sms gateway number ?

Override stock messaging app?

Device: Realme X (China variant)
So, other than installing a custom rom, is there any way to override the stock messaging app in ColorOS 6 that would allow to me to use Facebook Messenger instead as the SMS app?
When I try to do that now, I always get a system message about it switching back to stock for security reasons... ?
I had the same issue when I tried to switch to the Google SMS app. Even after uninstalling the package trough adb it prompted me to switch to it and wouldn't let me use the google app. The prompt appeared when I received a text message and the "default app" setting wouldn't let me chose the google app.
I tried Microsoft SMS organizer app as my default messaging app and it worked fine. I was getting my messages on SMS organizer app instead of the stock one. And I didn't have to debloat the stock messaging app. All I did was selecting SMS Organizer as my default messaging app on settings and that's it.
