I've installed SMS Popup so that I get notifications when I receive text messages.
Now the issue is that I've intalled ChompSMS alongside the standard messaging app, which means that when a text message arrives, I actually get two pop up boxes: one from ChompSMS and one from the default app.
Is there any way to stop this? Can I 'assign' SMS Popup just to work for one of the messaging systems?
Cheers,
SMS Popup, like ChompSMS and the default Messaging client will only intercept incoming SMS messages once.
You need to make sure you have notifications disabled in ChompSMS AND the Default messaging client if you are using SMS Popup.

I would like to develop an application which listens for incoming SMS, verify which ones are email notifications and automatically starts Activesync to retrieve emails, synchronize calendar and so on.
Is this feasible?
I have heard that you can't use the sms API as the interface is stolen by the 'phone edition' bit and you have to use the CE MAPI interface instead, working on SMS once they have been stored in the Inbox.
Any experience with this? Code bits?
Thanks, ciao,

SMS notifications
You can use the RIL interface to get notification of about anything to do with the GSM part. However, it is not very well documented. If you go to the URL below you'll find a small app that will display notifications for incoming SMS messages and incoming SMS status reports.
However the message part is still encoded! There are some library calls that can decode the message, but I have not yet figured it out.

I am looking for a Message Management app. I have already tried Handcent thought. Any other message management app which prolly looks like a traditional one where the messages aren't threaded or is there in an option in Handcent or the stock message app on my HTC desire where I can stop threaded messages?

After installing the recent Hangouts update and accepting to send and receive text messages through the Hangouts app, I'm now receiving text alerts through both the Hangouts and Messaging apps.
How do I disable messages from being picked up the old Messaging app?
Go into setting>Applications Manager and disable your messages.
After root, it seems the default message as app is the only message app that can send SMS. I've tried mood, Pulse and messages (Google)
did you set your sms gateway number ?
