[Q] rom and modem change - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

good morning friends I have a couple of questions.
I have the tmobile note 2, and always bring to my country Honduras. here I can not surf the Internet 3g, I wonder if I can change the other note2 moden companion as att or verizon to see if they work. or the international version. and also want to know if I can flash a rom to the official international tmobile note2. Thanks before hand. excuse the English is translated from Spanish to English.

come on dude..you got to make it short...
basically I think all you need is to have your N2 unlocked. $28 online in one hour.
unlocked phone and custom ROMs are two different issues; they have nothing to do with each other.
so....want to use your phone on different carriers like Tmobile, ATT, Verizon, Sprint....? have it unlocked
so....want to experience something out of ordinary, something that doesn't come with the phone out of its factory....then give custom ROM a try.

You problem sounds like missing or incorrect APN settings. According to Wikipedia the Claro Honduras network is HSPA 1900 MHz, which the Note 2 should support. Especially if your phone is already capable of placing voice calls and sending/receiving text messages.
voyagerair: make it relevant. Your post isn't. And bypasses the fact that there's a free unlock explained in these very forums.

[Q] Are There Different S3 versions for ATT and TMobile?

I found out quite late that Tmobile is limited to 2G data on IPhones.. (or atleast IPhone 4S). I use TMobile prepaid 3$/day package as my usage is limited and sporadic.
Considering the S3, can anyone please tell me if Samsung has released distinct versions of the S3 for the two networks, or the same model covers both?.
Thanks.
I believe att has the lte version. Yes different phones.

I suppose, the question I really wanted to ask was, is one network's version more of an international phone than the other with regards to data?... i.e if I were to take the phone to a)UK/Europe, b) Pakistan,
Would both phone be able to get atleast 3G, or, would the TMobile version still be restricted to EDGE?.
Thanks.

There are different versions of the S3 for both the ATT and TMobile. On the S2, the difference was in the apearance, where the ATT was a little more square like, and TMobile had rounded edges. In the S3 though, the only difference is the name printed on the back (where it has either the Tmobile or the ATT logo). As for the mobile network support, I think that only the radio is different. Even now, you are not limited to 2g by your phone, but rather whatever TMobile decided to give you. Both phones will get atleast 3g. I know that TMobile version does not have LTE support, but im not sure about the ATT version.

If you bring an AT&T phone to T-Mobile, you will not get 4G.
You can best 3G if your AT&T Phone has the 1900 range, you can get 3G on T-Mobile's service. Not sure how well it will be since it's only picking 1900 without others.
If you unlock your T-Mobile S3 you should be able to get 3G/HSPA+ on AT&T. The T-Mobile S3 is a pentaband device.

If you are using an iPhone you might as well do the $2 a day since the $3 will only affect you if your phone gets 4G. They will be exactly the same performance on the $2 since it will just be on unlimited EDGE.

The AT&T version does not get 3G on T-Mobile save for a few sporadic locations across the states. And yes, it also has LTE.

[Q] I have a T-Mobile S4 that refuses to select LTE for other carriers

Hey Y'all,
I've seen the other threads and I know that LTE works for AT&T but for the life of me, I cannot get it to select LTE
at all. I've tried the connections-->network mode menu and whenever I select LTE+WCDMA+GSM it always reverts
back to WCDMA+GSM the moment i back out of the menu. Also when using the *#2263# and I try and select it
via that way, I get bars but no data. Can anyone help me shed some light on this?
Is there another way to prioritize LTE? Do i need to flash a new kernel or modem?
Thanks guys!

Yea that's whats bugging me. I put the AT&T sim back into my GN II and it gets LTE easy. I'm still within the return period
I just dont know if I'm missing a step or if the phone is defective. But it gets T-Mobile LTE ( in what few places get it
where I'm at ). So I don't know

No I did not. I just did the unlock method that was posted here. So forgive the noob question, but I would have to flash
the AT&T radio to get LTE? Or is this just a troubleshooting method you want me to try? I just thought I wouldn't have
to flash the AT&T radio since it supported the bands Out-the-box.

Technically, you shouldn't have to. It supports 700 MHz LTE out of the box. The T-Mobile S4 is the "best" version because it supports both AT&T and T-Mobile bands out of the box. The AT&T S4 supports AT&T and T-Mobile LTE out of the box, but not T-Mobile HSPA+ (AWS) without a mod.

It's more along the lines of a troubleshooting method. I believe I read another thread exactly like yours and the solution was to flash att radio. Think of it like a regular am/fm radio. All the hardware is there, but without something to control what stations it can play, how's it gonna know what to play?

The network is decided by the SIM card (the entire purpose of GSM). With an AT&T SIM, he should still be able to pick up T-Mobile LTE (AWS LTE is what T-Mobile uses and it's supported in all AT&T devices). My AT&T Note 2 gets T-Mobile LTE, just like my T-Mobile Note 2 does.
Also you can't cross-flash modems because the partition sizes are different; ROMs may be compatible (that's the case with the Note 2) but not the modem. If you flash another device's modem, you'll lose your IMEI (until you flash back the correct one) and your device will bootloop with no signal. From experience.
IGNORE THE GUY TELLING YOU TO FLASH THE AT&T RADIO. YOU'LL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
----------------------------
I just remembered the reason. AT&T won't activate LTE on a non-AT&T phone (on their end on the computer) unless you lie to them and give them the IMEI of an AT&T device. 10000% sure. Fixed this for another guy with a T-Mobile Note 2 trying to use it on AT&T. I have one for you. You go on chat online and tell them you're not getting LTE. They ask you for an IMEI number of an AT&T LTE device (it doesn't have to be your S4's) and then they can activate LTE on their end. I happen to have an IMEI of an in-store HTC One on hand. I'll PM you.

Thanks for all the help guys. I already have the GN-II's imei listed on my account however and with the LTE feature code on my account thanks to my buddy who is a rep at the att store. I'm gonna meet him in a few minutes to get another sim card just to give this another shot before i do an exchange at t-mobile seeing as t-mobile is more anal about doing exchanges unless they can physically verify in store what you're *****ing about.

You dont need to be so rude first of all. Secondly I never told him to do anything, i simply asked if he flashed the radio and told him it was a troubleshooting method. Meaning, research it before you do it. Just like anything else.
Secondly, others have gotten LTE on their T-Mobile devices without talking to ATT. I already stated i was using the top of my head for diagnosing and never did i tell him to do anything. And since i was going off the top of my head, i remember being able to flash ATT radios to the S3 and S2 of T-Mobile. Also, he has a T-MOBILE DEVICE wanting ATT LTE on it, not the other way around as you are thinking.. Any how, we are two very smart people, we need not argue with one another and telling the op to ignore someone. Thats just flat out rude. Especially since i never said "go flash the ATT radio" i simply asked a question.
To the OP,
Have you set up your APN configurations for ATT?

I'm sorry if I came off as rude to you; I was merely trying to tell him to not cross-flash S4 modems as it can brick the device; you have to be careful what you tell people to do if they're coming to you for help. It's not like with the S2. I correctly said he has a T-Mobile device and wants AT&T LTE on it, and as I said before, I've fixed the issue with someone who was in the same situation with a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2. Like I stated, the phone itself is capable of 700 MHz LTE, which is what AT&T uses. You don't have to flash any modems. It should just work. The fix is above in the last paragraph.

Did you try changing APN configurations?
Update: I switched the phone, did the unlock process again and....it still refuses to select LTE. I dunno. At this point I'm at a loss and thinking that it might have something to do with the unlock process itself. I might just do one more exchange and pay for the unlock. Can someone who has AT&T LTE on their S 4 do me a favor and post their APN settings so I can compare just to be absolutely sure it's correct?
I have a T-Mobile s4 that I put my AT&T SIM card in out of my AT&T galaxy note 2 and lte works fine. My issue is, I have random losses of network signal then it just comes back moments later while using the T-Mobile s4 with my AT&T SIM card. I used the unlock method posted in the T-Mobile s4 thread, rooted and flashed the Jedi Rom from the T-Mobile s4 thread. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

[Q] model SM-900W8 bands and questions

so i just got my SM-900W8 for Wind mobile today, had to buy it with two months service, but then was able to send half of the money i put down on that service over to my old account, switch the sims, and now i have my same old number and plan on my new note, and i'm only out an extra 20 bucks (still bull****, i know, but i wanted it today and wasn't going to deal with waiting, for any reason.... maybe too impatient lol)
anyways, after i bought it, i stopped by the bell store and asked what model they sell... they showed me the box and it was the exact same model number... SM-900W8. i then went to rogers, same thing, and telus i presume will be the same since bell and telus share towers etc
so, my question is, if i unlocked my phone, could i simply go get a bell rogers or telus sim card, and throw it in, and have it work? the region issue is a non-starter for two reasons - first i didn't even have that region lock sticker on my box, but second, the robelus sims would all be the same region, so it shouldn't matter in the least. what i'm wondering is, would the bands be the same, or at least some of the same to the point of working? i know that wind uses AWS bands and robelus does not, but since they are the same model number, is it possible that they have radios that are compatible with all four carriers in this phone?
if not, can someone explain to me how to find out what networks this phone would work on? i mean, it sounds like people are unlocking their tmobile phone and using it on att, and from what i remembered, att is not aws, and i thought that rogers and att phones worked together... ARGG what gives here?
also, are the tmo phones the same model number as mine? or did they use different phones than wind this time around?
finally, if i'm looking to root this or put a rom on this, am i looking for the tmo roms and other stuff like i was with my sgs3 or am i looking for something else with this new phone? where can i find this info... i haven't been able to find much about this yet, i guess not many people have this phone on wind yet

Thanks for the answer, but I don't know for sure what bands the big three use, can anyone tell me if this phone will work on those big networks?
Also, any answers to my other questions ?
Rogers, Bell and Wind all use the SM-900W8 variant probably with just a different modem / QCP file.
So does this mean that there is some chance of, in the future when things get cracked, of flashing a new modem etc onto it our something

to answer my own question, yes, i unlocked my n900w8 from wind with an unlock code, and i was able to see whatever networks were attached to the sim i put in it. rogers, bell, telus, koodo, virgin, fido, wind, probabaly chatr if you really wanted to use this device on that dumb ass carrier
so yes, you dont even need to flash other modems... it just works
i did try flashing bell/rogers/puerto rico roms on my device and all had the same result, it all worked, and it all worked fine
Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900W8 from videotron (canada)
Hi, i have a Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900W8 from videotron (canada) and i unlock with a code to use it with fido and the phone show only the 3G internet, is there a way to enable the LTE? when i go to setting mobile network, network mode show me only 3 options WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) or WCDMA only or GSM only. I tried to root the device to do like this forum said ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489766 ) and when i root it it says pass but it stuck on rebooting and something red is written on the next line and samsung logo is there too. anyone can help me to enable the LTE network?

[Q] Flash T-Mobile Rom on AT&T M8??

I have an AT&T M8 which I unlocked, rooted and s-off'd while under AT&T contract. I then decided to switch to T-Mobile and give this device to my 11-year old son. What I'd like to know/understand is whether I can flash some of the T-Mobile Roms I see in this forum on the AT&T M8 and it work with T-Mobile network? Or do I still need to flash the AT&T Roms?
Thanks in advance for any help advice!

SIM unlocked would allow you to use it on stock AT&T too if you choose to. Also everything seems to be interchangeable unless noted. I would go for Rom with T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling, which is amazing btw for those who get sorry service.

You should be able to flash either T-mobile or AT&T (Even roms in the international section, I would recommend InsertCoin) roms without any issues. Eleven and has a M8? Damn, i'm jealous lol.

Thanks for the information to the both ^^^^^^^^ of you! I appreciate it. Yes , he is 11 years old, but a good respectful kid and does well in school. With that I'm okay with giving him nice things. If that should change, then Daddy gets the M8 back!!! LOL
Somewhat related question... If I u were to use an AT&T model on T-Mobile, would everything work correctly, 3g/4g? Comparing the frequency bands online, the AT&T model is missing the 1700 band that the T-Mobile version has. Does that mean the phone doesn't have the hardware components to connect to it? Or is it capable of connecting, just that AT&T doesn't use that band? I'm asking because I want to pickup a used m8, but the T-Mobile version is going for around $100 more than all the other carrier's versions... Could I just SIM unlock an AT&T version and be set, or will some things not work?

That's a good question and hoping someone will have the answer. In the meantime I was able to SIM unlock my son's ATT M8 and install a TMobile SIM using stock ATT rom. So far everything has worked and the 4G symbol does appear in the task bar, although I'm not sure if that really means he's getting 4G. I did have to manually enter the APN settings so he could get mobile data when not connected to wifi.
Tmobile apn settings
Would you mind posting the apn settings that allowed your sons phone to work on 4g and send mms? Its the main reason I'm looking into flashing a Rom and would save me a lot of trouble as I have spent quite a bit of time searching for one that works on my phone and none seem to do the trick.

Korean note 4 on at&t in usa

Hello all and thanks for taking the time to read my post. I know it's probably something that has been addressed here but today is my first day on the forum so I thought I would just ask.
I have a korean note 4 and I want it to work on my at&t network in the usa. I got everything to work except for 4g. Any idea if there's a way to get the 4g to work or should I just give up? It's the 8 core model.
From what I understand Korea and the USA use different frequencies, and different technologies for 4g. I don't think this is possible. Should be automatic.
You could see if you could try different network settings:
