I'm looking for the tablet version of The Weather Network (TWN) - specifically, version 2.0.1.12. Can someone with a Nexus 10 or other 10" tablet download it and provide the APK file? I want to use the Tablet version on my N7 Gen 2 but Play store always downloads the phone version even though I am running Tablet UI.

Hey, did you ever find a copy of this for your N7? I have been looking for it too.
Thanks

Hello,
I would like to buy a subscription to t3 magazine, but the free reader app is marked 'incompatible':
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodwing.t3
Can someone upload the apk somewhere so I can try it?
It should be okay to ask for apks of free apps right?
- Frank
I think you should post that question on this forum's tablet section since it appears to be only compatible with:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Motorola Xoom 1
Motorola Xoom 2
Asus EeePad Transformer Prime 10.1
Asus EeePad Slider
Acer Inspire 10.1
Or you can also try to flash any Paranoid Android rom and set Google Play to tablet mode, it might (I say might) allow you to install it.

I don't think that will work.
As far as I know, google play goes by device, and doesn't care what rom you are running on it. (outside of perhaps version number).
I don't see why it wouldn't run on the galaxy note - whether stuff is too small to read, and buttons easy enough to push is another story.
I could see pages not being 'zoomable' since it's assumed you are on a 10 inch tablet.
- Frank
Well that's why I said it might work. Though I still think I've had access to different apps on the market while running Paranoid Android rom..
Is it possible without needing to install a ROM? What I basically want is the ability to have the dockbar move to the bottom of the screen when I rotate it to landscape instead of staying on the short side like it currently does. I want my dockbar always along the bottom edge of the screen no matter what position I'm holding the tablet. Currently no launchers that I know of allow this as an option. Any ideas that don't involve ROMs?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418867
This should do that until a new mods gets released .
You have to be rooted for this mod to work.
Hope that helps.

I don't think real tablet UI has a dock. And a launcher like apex would give you the option to disable the dock like in larger tablets.
if you want true tablet ui, buy an iPad mini
What exactly do you mean with real tablet UI - the failed UI experiment from google in the past?
The N7 has the current tablet UI.

The current N7 uses the phablet ui. He means the honeycomb like ui. Whether you consider it failed or not does not matter some (me included) prefer it.

I prefer that tablet ui too... would love some insight if tablet ui is possible at all in a CarbonRom.
I like the Honeycomb look better as well. My biggest issue is that all of the apps from the play store are downloaded as the phone version, not the tablet version. I bought a tablet to have tablet apps, not phone apps - I don't care that the screen is only 7".
Honeycomb ui works fine for a tablet all operations takes place below the screen. Unlike this new ui were you always have to reach the notification area
Most other android tablets ( like galaxy tab, acers and others) Have the tabletUI (honeycomb or whatever the hell you wanna call it)
Why? Because with the way you hold your tablet, its way easier to hit the buttons and swipe where you need to with that setup.
At least it would be nice to have the option to change it.
I use guest profiles and what not so i cannot use the method posted above
Hopefully we will get tablet UI on stock somehow working good....
hmm... the older I get, the lazier i get to mess with roms
I would install ParanoidAndroid if I were to flaSH....

Also a lot of wasted screen real estate on the N7 between the forced search bar and top & bottom bar.

You can flash pa and get the tablet look but that doesn't mean you're gonna get the tablet apps - that's what I'm wanting.

Email the devs of the apps you buy and state your want to get a tablet version. easy peezy.
Revieww apps on the play store, state your opinion.
When people don't buy apps that devs spent lots of effort on, its discouraging.

It's nothing to do with the devs. It's the way the play store sees the nexus 7. USA today has a tablet version of their app. Directv has a tablet version. On the galaxy tab 8.9 for instance, I could get those. Maybe it's something to do with build.prop?

OOoohhh I see I'm so sorry I misunderstood.
I saw that the USA app though says its for both phones and tablets. the direcTV one though , says not compatible with my device... of course we can always download the APK from somewhere but i think this calls for a petition to google to make sure we are getting the maximum experience on our devices.
the Wallet app I can understand, with the security thing and whatever but this? this is recidulous. and Now that You've mentioned it, I actally had a few apps on my nexus 10 which i cannot install on my nexus 7 (tablet apps)
weird right?

Do you think we can edit the build prop or something to fool the play store into thinking we are using a nexus 10?

He's not talking about the launcher tablet ui. He's talking about the honeycomb style combines bar.

You DO get tablet apps if you want. Changes in DPI determine app layout. PA lets you choose DPI on an app to app basis without trashing your market. Meaning modifications to build.prop are broad and make your market think you are a tablet which for some apps is bad, so they don't do that.

In most cases yes. However (for whatever reason) some companies/developers choose to publish two separate apps to the Play Store - one for phones and one for tablets, and unless your device is identified as a tablet the tablet version of the app is marked as incompatible (and the phone version doesn't include the tablet layout so it isn't available by dpi/layout changes).
Again, however, this is something that the app devs should be sorting - provide one apk that contains all layouts and the problem is solved (because then you can use PA or whatever to use whichever layout you like).

Hi everyone!
I have just gotten my Ouya device today and installed apps from my Samsung Galaxy S3 like Netflix, Youtube and XBMC... I did try installing some other apps called Showbox, USTV, and TVPortal but the thing is, they do install and when you launch them it goes back to the Ouya homescreen. Is there a way to run *any* android app on the Ouya even if modding the console itself or the apk file of the app? I would like those certain apps to work. If there is none I guess I will be selling it on the market.
Thank you.

netflix, look for the 1.8.1 apk I beleive, you can find it on XDA here.
For youtube, I forget which version, Ill have to check mine and get back to you.
XBMC you can get from OUYA itself, you dont need to sideload it.
I found it best to get the amazon app store installed. Most apps on this seem to run good, since the hardware is similar to the kindle and nexus 7.
I used HULU from the amazon app store and it runs fine.
Im seeing more and more the version 1 of the OUYA was a bit of a disappointment and I was a kickstart backer (only 20$ though).
IF (big IF) they create a version 2 Im sure it will be much better but version one buyers and kickstart backers better get something for being R&D

It's fine. I sold it within 2 days because I don't like I can't install all android apps. It was very good with XBMC though
Does anyone know if there is a version of Android TV Launcher that resembles the look of the new Android TV? (Like attached?)
Thanks!
it's only available for 8.0/9.0 I believe, but if anyone could hack it on to firestick 4k that would be awesome.
And i came here looking for other way around
I have the above version since the day i bought my Mibox S (few months ago) its using Android TV launcher and looks like this

Using this one currently and it's working great.
Recommendations work but only for Netflix. Not sure if others work. I have root.
I noticed after the latest update with the Fold (AT&T version purchase at Best buy back in November 2019) caused my HBO GO app not to work. When I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, I noticed there are no HBO apps available for download now. When I went to the web and found a link to the app, it says that it's not compatible with my phone. I'm confused. It worked fine for months and now it's gone? I have a Galaxy Fold and not a Huawei or other Chinese knock off brand. Is there anyway to get this app working on the Fold?
Couldn't you try sodeload the app they most likely not made it combatable with android q 10
I'm still on Android 9 with AT&T. Does that make a difference? I had the app on my Fold and working months before.
Working fine here... Fold 5G, android 10.
Thanks, I got it working on my official AT&T Galaxy Fold (USA) model by downloading the latest version from APK Mirror.

Do use the Max Go app as well? Are you seeing a message in the app that they won't be supporting to Fold starting April 30th? I wonder why?
No, European (I guess) HBO Go app from Play Store. I get no warnings at all.
