Warranty void - Sony Xperia ZL

What would make the ZL void it's warranty...is it rooting or unlock the boot loader...
Can Sony knows that we root the device...is their anyway to hide that...if like a faulty phone and want to claim warranty and already change from root to normal again...can they detect that...

The only way to make the warranty work is to wipe your phone and install the stock Sony firmware

I don't think so but they can detect it if you send over the device.

I got my rooted phone replaced. Before sending to the service center, I made sure it was upgraded to the latest Stock Rom (and whipped everything)

Is this normal?

I just got my Galaxy Nexus fixed from Samsung cuz i had some problem... But when I got my Nexus, it was unlocked! (bootloader) is this normal? Should I lock it back so I can get my support from Samsung (warrenty)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
yep ive seen other users posts where they got their phones returned with an unlocked bootloader. just boot into the bootloader and type in fastboot oem unlock to relock it.
Ok I'm a bit of noob... Does the phone factory reset when you relock it? Also I don't have right driver I don't think... Is that okay with re locking it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I believe it only resets when you unlock it, not when you lock it. I don't see any benefit of locking.

I'm thinking of doing that just because I'm not thinking of rooting this anytime soon and also so I can get the benefit of warrenty.

Completely understandable, BUT have you ever heard/read of any manufacturer refusing a warranty because the phone was unlocked (or even rooted)? I never have. Besides didn't you say you received it unlocked?

If a manufacturer/repair company refuses to repair a hardware-related error on a phone which has a modified software, I'm gonna lose hope in mankind.

That is true... Maybe I should relock when I need it... And maybe I need to complain at Samsung first before doing it so

[Q] arc S LCD problem

Hello. I bought about eight months Gvshymv. You're just a tiny spot of white on black LCD door. But other colors right door. This is a very small point, I think it's a pixel. I want to ask is there a way to fix it?
No, send it while you have warranty
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Bootloader unlock my phone so my phone is out of warranty

the endaKo
There is no way to repair the dead pixels? :crying:

You won't get your warranty back.
But you can update/repair your device via PCC/SUS.

Yes after relock you can get warranty back. Now there is a way for that.
You may not get any warranty support if your phone's OS is crashed or phone is not booting up because of the unlock bootloader or hard brick.
But you can get warranty support for the physical damage, let's say you have unlocked bootloader but, some how your phone's display is not working, or you phone's speaker is not working, in that case you will get warranty support.

Sony's terms of unlocking bootloader is may void the warranty. It is may, and ofc may not.
But supposedly you're in country that can't accept unlocked bootloader, relocking it may change that. I mean, as far as I know, there's no conventional way to checks whether the drm is still exist or not. ofc there is brava engine and download music info not working, but there is a fix for that. Maybe there are other (non-conventional) way in Sony to check it, just pray that they don't do that. Lol..

[Q] Can a rooted device get imei blocked?

Hello, I bought an HTC One X from Ebay and i found it really cheap. Anyways it is rooted as i see it has SuperSU app. But im afraid it was stolen as its price was so low. I wanna know if someone can block a rooted device? It was originally locked and the bootloader has been unlocked by the seller. At least thats what he said. Please I would be grateful if you could reply to my question. And if it gets blocked is there any way i can unblock it? Thanks
Did it work..?
I don't think that there's a problem

Not without unlock currently. Which, if you were unlocked i would assume you'd have already rooted. Sad to say there isn't anything for those that didn't get the unlock while it was available on day 1.
Not at the moment unfortunately.

dont buy a phone you wouldnt want to run stock. Most people see that as a difficult idea to grasp, but whatever. if you ABSOLUTELY NEED ROOT TO FUNCTION, this is not the phone for you right now

and I totally understand. But there are like 8 threads about root, and they all have the same answer right now, and theres even a donations thread and someone who you can pay to s-off your phone.
It's getting a little nuts with these new root threads when the answer is - no, you can't root (well, bootloader unlock) right now. I mean it's literally on the front pages of the forum for this device.
/endrant
Sorry.

Just torrent the FoxFi app full version. You need to install a certificate which means you have to enable the lockscreen on your phone...but whatevs. Works for me.
Idk how i did it....but i use foxfi hotspot without lock screen pattern...which i remember it required me to have 0_o

no, with a view like this, I'm happy using a phone that doesnt have root yet, instead of mindlessly saying 'durrrr I hate sense, but I bought this phone anyway'
