Stuck on custom status and superSu doesn't work
Tried flashing superSu tried flashing a deodexed roms I found on here tried doing a factory reset hoping to maybe get back unroot status even tried framaroot again.
Can anyone tell me how to either get root again so I can add a custom recovery since my goal is too install the 4.2.2 update or get back to unrooted factory status?
Thanks in advance

You shouldn't need root to add a custom recovery. You can flash a recovery in download mode using Odin on Windows, or Heimdall on Windows/Mac/Linux. If you're interested I can give you some help with installing and using Heimdall.
Bear in mind that flashing files in download mode will void your warranty (there is a counter which tracks how many times you've flashed). Flashing also carries a risk of bricking your device permanently. Once the flash counter is nonzero, your device will be detected as "custom" and you still won't be able to install official updates. But you will be able to flash ROMs in recovery from the xda community.

Can someone post the stock recovery.img on here? I sorta need it to flash it in Odin. I tried flashing CF-Root with the the root and the stock recovery to use triangle away to reset the counter, but when I do, I can't access the recovery. I think it's sorta soft bricked. I was wondering if someone would be kind and post the stock recovery.img or a flashable stock recovery via Odin preferably.

Gotta Odin To Stock Rom to get Stock recovery
Hit that Thanks Button
Is there any way to get the recovery extracted from the stock rom? The stock rom is over 1 GB. I've rooted the phone to remove the bloatware apps I wanted.

Tell me what exactly your trying to do.
Trying to reset the counter. I've flashed CF Root and reseted the counter already. Then I had to re-root via CF-Root cause I missed Chrome to remove. Now I've removed it and want to reset with Triangle Away but my phone reboots after the Green Android instead of going into recovery. I've flashed ClockwordMod and I can access recovery, but when I flash CF-Root, I can't access the recovery. I need a pure recovery from that rom without all the bloatware system junk.

T-Mobile phone doens't really have a flash counter, the only problem is the "Custom" Status on almost every thing, but here's a link to the thread that can help you with all that. BTW I wouldn't recommend Stock recovery on a custom ROm,
Don't Forget that bottom Left Button?>.
I have the stock rom. It does say custom in the status. That could be the problem. Is there any way I could run the phone as Official status with rooting it and removing the bloatware and then unrooting it?

C'mon buddy, Right above you.
I guess I'm going to have to flash the stock software again. I kinda just wanted to make the ROM stock without some of the bloatware. Just root to remove the bloatware I didn't want, especially Lookout. THANKS for the help though.

So flash the stock ROM, Flash Custom Recovery,...OHHHHHHH Now I get what your trying to do, You want Root, but with Stock rom and then ability to unroot right?
I rooted my friends S3 ATT with the s3 toolkit v7.0 he now wants me to unroot it so he can take the 4.3 update it have run the unroot and remove zip multiple times ( I even re rooted it and tried removing it again) and it will not remove clockwork mod recovery even though it says it will, it has successfully unrooted it the phone and removed super user and busy box . he does not want to loose all the data on his phone is there another way to remove clock work mod and get him back to the stock recovery so he can take the 4.3 update with out using triangle away ?
thanks
You would need to flash the stock recovery to replace CWM.

where do I acquire a stock recovery and is it flashed through oden or through clockwork ?
thanks
I'm not sure where to find the stock recovery as I have never seen one that is flashable via Odin, CWM, or TWRP.
By updating to stock 4.3, the phone will have a bootloader that cannot be downgraded and Knox will be installed.
I personally avoided the 4.3 update because the 4.3 bootloader makes it tough to go back to stock and tripping the knox counter will void the warranty. Also, knox can interfere with root access.

Hey, thanks for the post. I learned something too:good:
hey guys,
I need help asap! I tried using the video on this website to root my tmobile S4. I downloaded Kies, Odin 3.07, ROOT_M919UVUAMDL.zip, and CWM as recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.2-jfltetmo.tar, I did NOT install triangle away( i forgot). I went through the steps and passed in Odin. then, when I pulled the battery and booted in CWM i couldnt find the file so i went to the store to buy a sdcard. when I came home i re-ran through Odin and found the root zip on the external sdcard. I successfully installed the root zip and clicked reboot. my problem arose when it showed a "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" in red, and a "SET WARANTY BIT: KERNEL" in yellow. it seems to be frozen in this screen and i can only use the CWM and Download mode. I have tried re-using Odin .
Please help!!
That's an old root method. You can either
1) flash a custom ROM and go about your business
2) Odin back to stock firmware and root with cf-auto root or towelroot

1) You can find tons of Custom ROMs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/development
You usually flash them to your phone via a Custom Recovery such as CWM or TWRP. Or, is some cases you can use ODIN. Read, Read, Read, Read before your flash. It is very easy to do, but you need to understand what you are doing. All Custom ROMs come pre-rooted.
2) You can download a stock ROM from here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Or, you can use Kies to download and install the most recent firmware for your phone.
TowelRoot is a new option for rooting stock ROMs that are version 4.4.2 (KitKat). This method of rooting doesn't trip the Knox flag.

Thanks for replying however, you do not flash custom ROMs via Odin, you need a custom recovery like twrp or cwm.. Stock firmware you do flash via Odin.. And their Knox flag is already tripped, wouldn't matter

Thanks for correcting me that most of the time you flash Custom ROMs via a Custom Recovery on the S4.
But, if I'm not mistaken you can flash Custom ROMs via ODIN as long as in the right format and you select the correct partition.
However, most of my Custom ROM history is with a HTC device, so I may be mistaken.

It is possible but 99% of custom ROMs are not made to be flashed with Odin, in the past two years I've only seen about 1. And it is also inconvenient
my work requires encryption. i was on slimkatv22 at the time and had to encrypt. as encryption kept failing, i went back to stock. way back to stock.
so i'm running
JZO54K.I317UCAMH3 ROM
TEAMWIN Recovery
I317UCUCNE5 Bootloader
with Root and Busybox installed.
everytime i try to update via device update, it downloads, reboots and runs TWRP, I decrypt using password, reboots and the update fails with "Update Interrupted" message.
Is there a way to update ROM and keep encryption?
You can't OTA stock ROMs without stock recovery.

Thanks for your response. I tried updating ROM via ODIN and was not successful. Always got stuck in boot logo after i flashed new ROM.
Is there a stock recovery I should flash over TWRP to try?
Thanks for your help.
I have never used encryption so I can't really help if there are specifics around that. What exactly are you trying to install through Odin? If it's the firmware such as THIS it should overwrite the custom recovery with the stock one. If the stock ROM isn't booting you might have to boot into recovery and factory reset/wipe dalvik cache. This is my first Samsung phone so if nothing helps someone else who'd like to offer their assistance would probably be more knowledgeable.
I was going back to stock, which I guess, was mostly successful. however, I've not been able to install new ROM, namely 4.4.2 I317UCUCNE5. so if I install from your link, that should overwrite custom recovery and allow me to upgrade to 4.4.2 ROM either OTA or via Odin?
Maybe? Using the OTA always tells me there isn't an update (cause I'm on T-Mobile I guess?) and I haven't seen any files to update to Kitkat firmware through Odin

Hello,
I messed up my Note 8 and recently was able to reinstall 4.1.2 stock, I tried connecting to Kies and it doesn't work. I wanted to update to the newest software then root. Since that wasn't working I rooted via Odin then attempted to flash twrp so I could flash a custom rom. Root works but the custom recovery doesn't stick... I tried unticking reboot in odin and the system still reboots into standard recovery.
I tried using the toolkit and its stuck on waiting on debug even though debug is clicked.
Can anyone help me install a custom recovery via odin or another way?
If you have the at&t sgh-i467 version - there is not a custom recovery for it because it has a locked bootlader.
Additionally, the newest 4.4.2 ota update has not been rooted as of yet - so if you must have root, don't install the ota.
The original mf1 rom is rootable, but again there is no customers recovery due to the locked bootloader.
This only applies to the at&t in version...
use Odin
