First off sorry if this is somewhere else but I have been through this forum in and out looking for ways to make my nav bar either smaller or hidden to get the most out my screen.
This app called
Auto Hide Soft Keys
Here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
This does it all!
Now I get my full 4.7 inch screen for all apps and have a nice trans soft key. Plus there is a toggle to turn them on or off at anytime.
You only need root for this.

Good app
There's a thread already for this app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253770&highlight=auto+hide+soft+keys
I use this app just for hiding soft keys and LMT launcher for navigation control.
Good combination.

Don't know how you can do it on stock but some custom ROMs include the feature. I'm using slim ROM......

I would search for it in system/framework/systemUI/res/drawables/xhdpi (or hdpi for other screens)

Good idea but it is not the right one :/
I also searched for it in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/... and /system/app/velvet/...
I often saw the image but when I flashed it nothing changed there :/

adding pages
Am I the only one that can't add more pages to the homescreen? I've tried dragging icons and widgets to the right, but seems like I'm limited to the one main page and the google now section to the left.

Is this not what you're looking for?
Also 4.4.1 & 4.4.2 are supposed to have the transparent navbar as standard, but I'm running the N5 PORT rom so i wouldn't know.
well I tried it but it isn't always transparent it's only at the home page not I'm a open app or anything

+1
Nova Launcher's latest update enables transparent Nav and Status bars now.
I also wanted the navigation bars and status were transparent in all applications and this is only possible in immersive mode. I wonder if there is any way to use the status bars and immersive navigation mode instead of forward slashes. Or at least there is some way off the fixed bars in immersive mode without them disappear.
I've tried almost every rom but I have not yet found one that has it. my search must go on

Each app's developer needs to enable that functionality for the app in question.

OK,
So my nexus 7 have been rooted and unrooted a lot of times, I know how the process works.
And I don't think my problem comes from there also.
Yesterday I unrooted the device , I flashed back the factory image, the latest one, all went well.
And today I changed the lock screen widget with another one, but I noticed one thing , the kitkat lock screen shortcut to access the camera was gone.
So I deleted the widget and got the stock clock back on he lockscreen hoping it would solve my problem, but it didn't.
So I did a factory reset, and still not there.
Since I had no chance with the method that I took I reflashed the factory image, and still not there.
Like you see in the picture there is no camera shorcut at the bottom of the lock screen like its supposed to on KitKat.
What should I do?

Yes. You can enable lock screen widgets in the security settings. It's not going to automatically add a camera widget though.

There is no camera lockscreen widget on the stock Nexus 7 2013 rom and there never was.

Yes, You can hide the navbar buttons with a couple of methods (gravitybox works well) then install LMT launcher. Piece of cake.
You need to be rooted, absolutely.
I'm trying to root but my kids have left my laptop pretty much useless at this point. So I'll be rooting and flashing rinds this weekend at a friend's
