I've tried almost all the launchers in Play store but found the same problem with all.
The notification bar is transparent only in the TouchWiz default Samsung launcher, for the rest is black.
I've attached two pictures with examples and one with device info.
Has someone found a way to make the bar transparent in Holo launcher for example?
Thanks
For nova launcher
Press menu>nova settings>look n feel>tick on transparent notification bar....
I don know if it is prime feature as I use nova prime...
No idea abt holo launcher.....

So I've been searching for a solution to turn my statusbar completely transparent but with no result.
I've edited the statusbar_background.9.png file to completely transparent but all I get is a black statusbar.
On other threads and screenshots they are using other launchers, could this be the problem? Im using ADW launcher.
Btw, The statusbar is transparent when the lockscreen is on but as soon as I unlock and return to the homescreen the statusbar is black.
What I want is my background to go all the way up but still see all icons in the statusbar, so disabling the statusbar is not an option.
Note that I do not mean the draggeddown statusbar.
post your framework-res and i will post a transparent one for you
other launcher use 16 bit resolution. transparent notification bar can only be showed in twlauncher i think
This is my framework-res.apk without the statusbar edits I've done.
Thanks!
It worked now. Thanks anyway lgkahn.
The problem was ADW Launcher as corgar said.
Worked fine with Zeam launcher, lets see if Zeam is worth keeping.
Lol turn off 16 bit mode 'wallpaper hack' option in adw settings. That will give you transparency you wanted.
nvm I found it our
Thanks Merdini!!
Any one knows how to change Xperia pro Stock Launcher app tray to 5x4. And make its transparent background.

Hello!
I'm using nova launcher and...it would really be grate, if i could define the transparency of all the icons on all my homescreens.
I know how to disable the icon names, but i would like to have, nearly, transparent icons...
Is that able on my s3 with nova?

I can only think of a couple options for this. Either find a compatible icon theme with transparency in playstore (nova, apex, adw icon packs should all work), or make your own icons and and edit your shortcuts one by one.
Of course you could always request this as a feature to be added by the dev. Here is the nova thread:

edit: Here are round transparent icons - the closest I can find to what you are looking for

Hey guys,
I'm on PA 3.9 and I bought Nova Launcher Prime.
With paranoid android you can change the colours of your apps. So I tried it with Nova Launcher to make the status and the navigationbar transparent.
So, I succeeded with the statusbar, it is transparent.
But my navbar is sometimes transparent, sometimes not.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you <3
Ask nova dev.

As raghavsharmaxda correctly said, status bar and notification bar are the same, but Notification drawer is different
If you are on stock, then the status bar is already transparent by default in TouchWiz launcher in recent 4.2.2 but only for the lockscreen and launcher.
Although if you are on a custom launcher like KitKat then the launcher might have an option to toggle transparent status bar on/off.
If you use modules to manually select the color of the statusbar to 100% transparent there's a good chance that it'll appear white or some other color on it's own depending on the app you are using.
You see apps don't have the color of the status bar defined, they assume your system will do it on it's own.
Advice : if you are using modules to make it transparent, then expect it to be transparent all the time. If you don't want that then simply use the default Touchwiz launcher or a launcher that supports and/or has an option for toggling transparent status bar.

Yes like I said in my last post, using xposed modules will make your status bar transparent for all apps too.
And sorry I don't use any kitkat launchers or intend to. You'll have to try around and experiment with different ones.
I can recommend you Next Launcher, it has option to toggle transparent status bar but it's not even close a kitkat launcher.
AFAIK transparent status bar option on all launchers will only work fine on Kitkat. On JB it will always appear solid (transparent or not) , no transparent gradient.
@iceyhotguy @naufalhadyan Thanks Guyz
