Hello all,
My Evo had a REALLY badly cracked glass screen, but other than that it worked fine. I replaced the digitizer and it won't turn on properly now. It vibrates, and the screen's backlight turns on, but nothing else happens. I've checked the connections, but nothing I do will have any other effect. When the phone is off, it'll charge the battery just fine, so I'm fairly sure it's not the motherboard. Could I have damaged the connectors? Everything looks fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
I think the phone rejected the screen this happens to us all the time over at the xperia play forum

Try a different one, obviously its a bad Digitizer.Replace it,if it still does it,could be the ribbon wire.

I just traded my mini pro for a Xperia play with no back light working and sd card not reading. Ive dismantled all of the play and put it all back together and still the same problem and i have also used SEUS to reflash the software and still no back-light. You can see the play is on, its just really hard to see and i can receive calls. Im hoping to fix this for my my girl friend as i already have one.
My main concern is the back light and then the sd i think lol also the green light comes on when charging
So do i need a new screen or can i just change a part?
Thanks
Is the screen light built in to the screen? Or could it be the proximity sensor is broke any one please
Also if I open the game pad a little bit the screen works and fully open didn't work.

Possibly a damaged ribbon cable?
That's what I think but the ribbon that connects to the screen and the keyboard is hard to get to, the only side I can get to is the side that connects to the keyboard, there's a video on YouTube but didn't show you how to take your digitizer or get the ribbon out completely.

The digitizer is not attached to the LCD and comes off with the frame. The cable goes under the LCD module and I've seen it for sale but I'm not sure if it's meant to detach from the other end. If it has a short or something, It's likely where it connects to the bottom half or where it folds anyway. Have you taken it apart and taken a look at the folding cable?
i also have the same problem.
my lcd light are off.
but my touchscreen(lcd) still working, i can make call receive call, open app and other.
but the light too dim. hardly to see anything that i click/touch on the lcd.
plssss help me out.
does i need to change the lcd? or other parts of the phone?
and where is the light on the lcd btw?
i already flash my phone. so i dont think it is software problem.
i have the same problem but have no light at all, screen self is responsive if im touching it but no backlight
please help
Solve myselft, my problem is hardware coz i flash my xperia play and it doesnt work either, so i send to shop to repair and it done, the prob could be ribbon n lcd, mine was ribbon

Hi, I have an Xperia Z1 Compact, I dropped it, smashed the screen and ordered a replacement screen, fitted it and I can hear it booting up and all the associated sounds so I know it's on but there's no display, I thought it was a faulty screen so sent it back ad received another one but it's still the same, I know it works as I've tested it on another Cmpact and it's fine so clearly a problem with the hardware of the phone, does anyone have any ideas what it might be?
Thanks

Hello @seaspray99,
Are you 100% sure that you've connected it properly and that you've not damaged the flex cable or the contacts on the mainboard?
Keelah se'lai,
GethPrime
Definitely connected ok tried even holding it down while connected.

Hello @seaspray99,
Did you replace just the glas or the entire display assembly?
The entire display, but it stopped working after it was dropped, I thought the LCD had been damaged but it's definitely not that.

Could be anything if the screen works when tested, might have damaged the board in the fall.
i have the same problem, Old LCD was partially broken, replaced it, not working with new one. Used a new flatcable, still not working, No Led or Startup screen. Only vibrates 1 or 3 times with power button
Recently noticed that whenever i applied pressured on the screen, the screen would turn off. Disabled double tap, problem still persist. Anyone with similar experience?

Well, i guess its something to do with the Hardware issue. Oh well....
maybe a loose ribbon cable?
Got my phone back from the service centre and they diagnosed with a Faulty Back Light. Got the whole LCD replaced FOC.

Ok so my friend dropped his phone and his screen went black. Everything still works; turns on, buttons are responsive, digitizer works. Screen has nothing on it though.
Took it all apart, cleaned out all the dust, reseated all the cables and still nothing. Tried booting into pwr+vol down but still nothing on the screen. So I figured most likely suspect and ordered an LCD screen. Replaced the screen and still nothing.
Do you think I should call "DOA" on the screen? or do you think there is another issue going on here?
Please help, thank you.
The main flex cable is a likely suspect
Thank you that would be the next thing I replaced. I just seen so many posts with this same issue I figured maybe there was some secret goldcard this, calibrate that lol
So I tried to replace my pixel 2 xl screen, I had the phone off and was dissassbmling it. I broke the already old broken screen, and accidentally turned the phone on. Since I couldnt use the screen to touch the turn off button, I left it on and swapped the screen out. Now neither the new or old, known working screen displays on my pixel 2 xl. There isnt any obvious damage to any of the connectors in the phone, what can I try to fix this? I was trying to get to fastboot (dev mode is turned on), but I cant see the screen so I cant really do that.
Any ideas? If worse comes to worse I just want to wipe it so I can sell the chassis on. It still works, the alarm went off this morning when it should have!

If your still able to get to the board unclip the screen and battery clean connectors with some rubbing alcohol let dry a few seconds and reconnect the battery the phone should then be off and reconnect the oled panel. before reassembling the phone power on the phone make sure the screen lights up and you have touch activity. Once everything has been tested and working then reassemble. Always test your replacement parts if possible before assembling the device 100%.

I swapped with rubbing alcohol on the end of a cotton tip and tried the steps you said, still no screen activity. Any more ideas?
You said the broken screen doesn't light up anymore? If it at least lights then try to clip that one back in for a test light. I haven't had my pixel apart yet but I like doing phone repair. it is possible that the replacement part is defective? Also try unplugging the screen and battery again plug the screen in 1st and then the battery if there was any copper or silver contact tape covering anything place it back we're it was. Don't power on this time try plugging the phone in and see if it wakes the device!. And also check over all connectors and contacts make sure every thing is clipped in and touching.

Neither display will light. I've tried the power thing you mentioned, wouldn't turn on at all without the battery!
