Hello people!
Im jctjepkema, pretty new on this site, but i always scrolled through the pages, for the news and stuff. Now since yesterday i bought the HTC Desire HD from my father because i need a second phone for my private stuf. Now i want to root it because it is fun^^. I have done some galaxy's and was always easy job for me. However i can't get the HTC to unlock it's bootloader. I think i have the htc europe rom, however mine is a little newer, I have the 3.12.405.2 so I can't use the RUU from htcdev to update my hboot from 2.00.0027 to 2.00.0029, becuase for the htcdev bootloader unlocker i need hboot 2.00.0029 right? my android version is 2.3.5 and sense is 3.0. Does anybody know how i can upgrade my hboot so i can unlock this bootloader?
I hope you can help me! and thanks in advance!!!!
Greetings Jctjepkema

If I do this, will i end up with a locked bootloader?
no,just updated (be sure your hboot is now 2.00.27, do not use if it´s 0.85)
then you have to unlock using htc-dev
P: D : if your hboot is 0.85 use this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55810636/rom.zip
hdc-dev rru can only unlock the bootloader if I have a stock kernel, right?
update de hboot
register in htcdev.com
reboot in fastboot and type
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
submit the token to htcdev and wait to receive the mail with the unlock code
put it in the same place as before
then type
fastboot flashh unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
press yes in the device and go on
thats all, you are unlocked
Now you have to change the recovery and flash superuser or another Rom

I'm messing around since 3 days with a non working Desire.
I was trying to root that Vodafone UK Branded Phone with a goldcard, but it somehow did't really work stable.
So I managed it to install a RUU in order to revert it and begin the Process from the beginning on:
1.This was the RUU, and everything went fine: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Vodafone_UK_2.33.161.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157522_signed
2.Then I tried to downgrade my HBOOT from 0.93.0001 to 0.80 using the method in this thread (with goldcard!)
3. During the installation of the PB99IMG.zip something went wrong and (maybe a mismatch with goldcard or the mtd0.img, i still don't know / understand) HBOOT could not be updated and RADIO-V2 also
4. now I cant boot the Phone at all or issue adb commands (I think the phone needs to be fully booted and USB-debbug-enabled for this) so I cant follow any of the solutions wich I found in the last two days. A PB99IMG.zip is also not flashable in HBOOT since it just cancels after "Checking..[PB99IMG.zip]" and returns back to the HBOOT screen.
Here's my phones specs:
CID: VODAP102
PVT4
S-ON
HBOOT 0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
SLCD
RADIO 5.11.05.27
If someone has an idea where to start, any help would be greatly apreciated. If someone is even willing to assist via instant messaging or skype I would be happy to compensate his time with a donation via paypal! Thank you in advance!
EDIT: SOLVED!!!
cosine83 from the unrevoked IRC channel solved it for me!!
I was able to enter RUU mode and flash the PB99IMG.zip in 2 quick steps!
In fastboot mode:
1.fastboot oem rebootRUU
2.fastboot flash zip PB99IMG.zip
huge thanks!!!

for unrevoked I need my phone booted up and have debugging enabled as far as i know, but I cant boot it...
EDIT: I followed your guide from HERE but the result is still the same. I am not able to flash the PB99IMG.zip HBOOT reads it (the blue bar on the right top goes all the way up but then comes "Checking..[PB99IMG.zip]" and the procedure just aborts.
I think it must have something to do with a wrong mtd0.img which was flashed during my first attempt to downgrade (mybe not matching the PB99IMG???) or there is a problem with the goldcard (i am very certain that I did everythin correct with the gc, did it manually and also tith the gc-maker)

well I can select the "recovery" from the Hboot menu and also try flashing an update.zip, but every time I do this I get:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verifivation failed
Installation aborted
The best way should find a correct hboot P99IMG.zip and put it on the SD
Should ask to unrevoked team by the irc channel.

I thought it wasn't possible to change hboot until you s-off? or does a goldcard make it possible when s-on?
if you can access the bootloader menu (vol down + power) then you should be able to fix your phone.
Do you try to install an ruu Rom?
Sent from Desire Bravo with xda App. Leedroid ROM HD port inside.
Boot the phone into bootloader menu.
connect usb cable.
in command prompt load the SDK folder, instead of typing adb.exe type fastboot.exe.
place the hboot you want into the "platform-tools" folder in the SDK directory - if its in the pb99img.zip then extract the .img file from there and place just that file into the folder.
type "fastboot flash hboot *name-of-file.img*"
if this works then type
type "fastboot reboot-bootloader"
type "fastboot erase cache"
Not sure it will work though as you are S-ON.
However you should be able to flash a recovery through the same way, type "fastboot flash recovery *name.img*". Not sure if this will help fix it, but if you can access recovery then its a start! Obviously you'll need to download a recovery first and place it into the platform-tools folder.

You can if you are able to access recovery.. or try to just turn the phone on and see.
Also, take a read through this.. maybe it will help.

I'm talking to some of the guys from the IRC, so far no solution in sight. Maybe tomorrow there are some ppl online who are familiar with the HTC Bravo GSM...
I bought DHD, which won't boot at all, I thought maybe I can fix it, but dunno anymore. Here's what hboot screen says:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0027
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 7 2011, 19:06:24
I've tried to flash recovery from 2 different SD-cards, but hboot doesn't recognize my sd's at all. I have thought, that it should check the card and scan it at the beginning, but that won't happen. Filesystem is FAT32. I've also tried to unlock the bootloader, but it gets stuck to error message 'Command error' (fastboot oem get_identifier_token). When I try to flash recovery, it says 'Signature verify fail' (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
RUU is RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed
When I try to install another (older) RUU it stops always to signature error (132)
Is there any way to get this phone to working condition again? No need to root nor Custom ROM...

There's always a danger of buying a phone of this nature without knowing its history. Usually when they don't do any flashing and this happens its hardware problem. I bought one with the same problem as yours and i tried every known method sad to say i was resign to having bought a brick but lucky for me i bought another cheap with cracked screen so i took out the main board and switch it over use the best parts of both phones and i got myself a nice working DHD with a spare chrome housing. So maybe yr best bet is to lookout for a cracked screen one and do the same. Put an ad on web for yr area..you never know .....good luck cheers

Yeah, I also think that the phone is bricked, I've tried anything, and because it doesn't recognize SD-card in the hboot, I think it's a hardware problem...
Oh, and another thing: Phone LED stays red always when usb plugged, even when I remove USB cable... It turns off when I pull the battery off. I've never seen any other colour, even after all night loading...
Now I'm beginning to search one with cracked screen also. Luckily I didn't pay much for that brick.
Have you tried putting phone in fastboot and running the current ruu. Older ruu won't run on newer hboot.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
You need http://www.mobfirmware.com/dl/behtash/imei dhd/rom.zip
Move it to where your adb files are.
Then do the following from adb:
adb reboot oem-78 >> this will put you in RUU download mode. I found you can run this command from CWM Recovery. Though... if you don't have any recovery I'm unsure how to hit RUU download mode. There is an .exe from HTC Dev that'll do it from Fastboot, so there must be a command (fastboot reboot oem-78 maybe??)
Once you're at the black screen w/ silver HTC logo, type:
fastboot flash zip rom.zip >> This will change your hboot to one w/ an oem signature. Once it's successful, type:
fastboot reboot
Now, you'll need to go to htcdev.com/bootloader and follow the instructions to get your KEY (fastboot oem get_identifier_token) and paste it to HTCDev to get your boot unlock bin file emailed to you. Follow the last steps to unlock your bootloader.
The steps are something like: boot to fastboot> type oem command> copy / paste key to htcdev> receive email> download .bin file to adb folder> run command to unlock w/ .bin file (it's on the htcdev site).
NOW you can flash the custom recovery or boot imgs without getting the "Signature Verified Fail" Error.
Goodluck! I just went through this whole process so you can get your phone up and going w/ a custom rom from where you're stuck! Don't give up!

First i tried the Project X Revolution v3.6, followed the instruction step by step, but after rebooting it would just hang on the boot animation. So I tried again, wiped everything (cache, dalvik, system), and installed it agian, still the same problem.
So I tried a different rom. so I wiped everything, and installed MagioROMx R3.1, but still the same problem. So i gave up and tried to restore to my stock rom, which i made a backup of using TWRP (and also in titanium backup). But i still got hangs on booting. So i started searching the forums untill I found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...very_-_what_to_do_in_the_event_of_a_bad_flash
And started following the last resort part (with the RUU), but i can't seem to find the ruu I need (1.26.707.4), I only found a fitting OTA I have no clue what to do with.
So now, my hox is only booting to bootloader (so no charging and battery is <30%), bootloader is relocked, and I can't access TWRP (an HTC booting screen comes up, with something written in red, and then the bootloader comes back).
Some data I have:
(bootloader) version: 0.5a
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 0.43.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: None
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None

(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: None
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 2

So I am pretty lost, and could really use some help...

Project X Revolution v3.6 came with a bat file who I assume flashed it:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
But I am not sure flashed the second time i tried it.
But the second mod I flashed both times.
P.S: a red LED while in bootloader means the phone is being charged?
You are not flashing correctly the boot. Img you need everytime With almost every rom flash it, if you cant or dont know how to do it use a toolkit!

I have the "WinDroid HTC One X Toolkit", but i haven't used it to flash roms, because i couldn't figure out where the boot.img comes in place there.
(You have flash rom, and flash kernel, but flash rom is the first step, and I thought you should first flash the img and then the rom.)
So in theory, assuming i can charge the phone, re-unlock the bootloader and flash a rom correctly I should get the phone working again?
The phone doen't charge in bootloader,
If u r at bootloader enter fastboot.
-Check if htc fastboot drivers are correctly installed (ur phone should show "fastboot usb").
-install fastboot, adb drivers.
-extract boot.img from the custom rom u r trying to flash, and place it in fastboot folder.
-open cmd and navigate into fastboot folder through cd
eg:" cd c:\fastboot\
- type: fastboot flash boot boot.img
-type: fastboot erase cache
-type: fastboot reboot

I managed to re-unlock the bootloader, but i cant flash the boot, i get:
Code:
sending 'boot' (4862 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.637s
I got that while in the bootloader menu, in recovery and boot animation fastboot can find the device. So I don't know what to do :S
(will trying to push the file using adb, and flashing it though TWRP work?)
No, if you are failing using the console use a toolkit, enter to general there is a faq to root flash and unlock boot leader, download toolkit from there, put the toolkit and the boot Img in the same folder and follow the faq you are not flashing the boot Img correctly.

Yeah following the faq is the best idea, but there is something not done correctly in the phone, and not the console. Screenshots would help us find the problem... but follow the faq point by point will help u a lot.

Are you guys sleeping or what, his hboot is WAY to low to flash any rom from here !!!!
Download the android SDK bundle (google it) unpack the package and go to the PLATFORM TOOLS folder. you see a file called fastboot.exe......now point in that folder with your mouse and hold SHIFT and press the right mouse button. Select open command window here and perform the fastboot commands from that window !
How to charge ?
Put the phone in the bootloader and run this script WITH admin rights from the fastboot (copy this file into the same folder as were fastboot.exe is) folder on the pc :
You execute the file while right clicking it and select "run as administrator" if it starts it will keep on rebooting the phone and charging it bit by bit.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/aaah8gqz8j024xz/Batt script.bat
when your phone is charged to let's say 3800mV stop it and relock the bootloader. then install this ruu
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260743_signed.exe
Keep the phone in the bootloader/fastboot usb mode and select also the ruu with your right mouse button. Select again "run as administrator"
after it ran succesful you reboot the phone into the os and continue to update via official OTA

I managed to re-unlock the phone and charge while in recovery, so the battery issue is solved.
I downloaded the sdk and the ruu, but when i run it (with admin priv) I get:
Error -5001 on InstallShield.

Could it be drivers related?
And also I get on the bootloader screen a "Security Warning" (only when bootloader is relocked).
The security warming is not the issue, are you logged in at the pc as admin ?

That's not what I mean, to unlock your bootloader you would have had to issue the command fastboot OEM unlock, or fastboot flash OEM unlock unlock_token.bin or something similar. These types of commands are the ones I'm interested in I want to see if you can flash clockworkmod recovery pal.

Than i downloaded from htcdev - PC4910000_Buzz_Froyo_hboot_1.02.0000_R3.exe and flashed and unlocked with Unlock_code.bin

Ok so fastboot works, good good. Do you have clockworkmod recovery installed? If not follow my thread for rooting hboot 1.02.0000 and install clockworkmod but go no further.
Also just for your information the ruu will not install because of
1. Your honor is higher than the ones in the RUU,
2 your bootloader is unlocked.
We need to downgrade you to the WWE rom with hboot 1.01.0001 and hopefully that will restore your touch panel to working order

ok so what we want to do know is downgrade your hboot to 1.01.0001 so to do that we need your misc partition to be edited. as such i would like you to boot the phone into clockworkmod recovery and connect it to the pc with a usb cable. windows should install the drivers if it has not done so already.
next you will need to set up your command prompt for using adb/fastboot commands.
then we will pull a copy of your misc partition to your sdcard and then copy it into your windows adb folder.
then you will upload that image to me, i will make the necessary changes and then re-upload for you.
then you will flash it to the phone all going well, re-lock your bootloader and then downgrade your hboot and rom and hopefully regain touch input
then as an extra if you want to use a rooted version of that german ruu you were trying to flash i can make you a "safe to flash" version
ok, so....
step 1. Connect your wildfire up to your pc In clockworkmod recovery mode.
step 2. open a command prompt within your adb/fastboot folder. (the same one you used to flash clockworkmod recovery)
step 3. enter the following commands one at a time. copy paste is recommended.
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/misc.img
exit
exit
adb pull /sdcard/misc.img misc.img
step 4. Upload this file to somewhere like dropbox or media fire and then send me a link to it.
in command prompt
su
/sbin/sh: su: not found
what i do wrong?

okey dokey, here is your new misc image. extract it into your adb folder.
i have edited this so it will re-lock your bootloader automatically once you have flashed it. one problem solved
also download this package, it has some tools you will need and the WWE rom you need to flash
lastly we need to make a goldcard. this will be hard given that your touch screen is non-functional. as such you will need a different, working android phone and YOUR sdcard. this trick is sdcard specific so dont swap them about
ok once you are ready with the right stuff, do these steps.
step 5. now we need to make a gold card. if you already have one, you can skip this part. first using your working android phone, download and install Goldcard helper from the android market. Run the app and copy down your SD cards reverse cid. double check it
step 6. now go to this website here and enter in your reverse cid. it will then let you download a goldcard.img.
step 7. now go back to the package you downloaded earlier with the WWE rom (named 1.01.zip) in it and run the goldcardtool.exe, this will flash the goldcard to your sd card. Warning! this will format your card!! in order to achieve this you will have to mount the sdcard from clockworkmod recovery to the computer, use mount usb storage and not mount sdcard.
step 8. once that is done we are now ready for the final push
Now the gold card is ready, i leave al the data on the goldcard, its not been formatted. Goldcard tool says, G: Goldcard is now ready.
The new misc image, must be copy to the phone ?

ok from here copy the Nmisc.img to your sdcard and do not rename it, leave it on the sd card within no folders.
then connect up the phone in clockworkmod recovery again, and mount the sdcard with mount sdcard and not usb mass storage.
lastly make sure that the 1.01.zip is in your adb folder.
issue the following commands.
Code:
adb shell
(your shell symbol should be a #)
flash_image misc /sdcard/Nmisc.img
exit
(now it should not be a #)
adb reboot bootloader
The phone should not reboot into bootloader and should say at the top locked OOW.
This is ok, if it does not say this then your misc image was not flashed.
if all is well issue these commands.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip
This will state an error, and that it needs to be reflushed. this is what we want, if any other issue your goldcard may have failed.
repeat the last command to reflush.
Code:
fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip
(this will take a while.)
fastboot reboot
the phone should reboot into the WWE stock rom and hopefully your touch screen will be working again. if it is proceed to s-off with revolutionary here ignore all but revolutionary and then if you want the german ruu as a safe flash rom send me a link to the ruu and I will make it. but it make take a few days.
im at work atm so my replys will be delayed pal, good luck

don't forget to delete or rename it on the sdcard before you reboot again or it will flash it again
ok heres the latest

Yeah this pretty much tells me you didn't properly read the guide to converting your device to GPE. When I mentioned "the 0p6bimg.zip" method I kind of figured you'd know to place it on SD Card and reboot into bootloader so that the bootloader can pick up the .zip file and flash it from there. Flashing in from RUU sort of gave it away there
Method 1
No computer required. Everything else still required. s-off, super CID/gpe CID etc..
1. Rename the RUU zip file 0p6bimg.zip (if your hboot is looking for a different name then rename it to whatever it's looking for)
2. Place the zip on your external SD card
3. Power off your phone
4. Boot into Hboot (hold down vol down as you power on the device)
5. it will load the zip and ask you if you want to proceed
6. Say yes
7. Wait
8. Profit

Didn't say anything about flashing it in RUU mode.
