Thanks ,Dan.

we will maybe need custom kernel therefore without source not working and some devs who could make the port working correctly...there is already a camera app which has enabled ZOE but maybe without source code of sense 5 kernel not working because it have to be enabled there :/

We think.
We don't even know that for definite yet.
I suspect a tie to the version 2 ImageChip in the One will be a requirement, and even if we can somehow convince the APK to accept compatibility I sincerely doubt the v1 ImageChip in the HOX will have the programming capable of processing the command from the Camera app.

HOX gets Video Highlights and an animated Gallery, ONLY when viewing the Gallery sorted by Events. It has frequently been mistakes as Zoe...but Zoe is a CAMERA shooting mode and NOT the animated Gallery.

maybe we just need then to lower resolution to 4mp or so and maybe also more cpu power for camera then...but we will see when we will get source code

Zoe has been ported to OneXL so i don't think that processing power is the problem, also ImageSense v2 is not a problem, because it's working on One XL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2436347
One XL is Qualcomm device, so they already had proper libs, for HOX is different story, and i think that kernel sources wont help with this... htc would never release source for something like Zoe
its just a matter of time :good:

Anyone here got a working Android 4.2 Camera that uses 5 Mega pixels instead of 3?
I've tried lots of mods out there but it doesn't seem to work.
Besides, I wonder why it only is able to use up to 3MP and not 5MP unlike other phones?

Try zooming in using 4.2 camera .. you wil find that its a bit blurry. Where as if your using cm10's camera its much more clear when you zoom in.try it.

I second that. The difference comes in when you're viewing it on the computer.
Hence, I was wondering if I could retain the 5MP on the 4.2 Camera because it's blazing fast.

Good for you. I don't have one though. I wouldn't say I depend on my camera a lot, but should there be any events, I'll depend on my phone's camera. Too bad that the new camera only takes up to 3MP. I was hoping if someone would fix it. It can easily replace the previous CM10 camera
in any custom rom.

Agreed. Since I've no experience in coding and modding, I can only come here to seek help from more professional people.
I wonder if 1ceb0x will give it a go? Since it's available in paranoid android rom, naturally it's good to get it fix and share it with the community.

Well i know there are lot of threats on this topic but i want to ask each and everybody for a while that is it possible to make a camera app similar to that of sense camera.
i will explain how. the sense camera has a great working on focusing the particular area on the screen. i mean for example you want click a flower then in sense camera app you just have to put your hand on the screen and it will tell the camera sensor to zoom on that particular level.
now this functionality is sort of supported by MIUI camera. but not a single app on the play store ever able come at par with the sense camera app. i tried and flashed almost all the apps available from marked, but in vain they failed. the image processing quality of sense app is also much better.
will we ever able to get like that kind of camera app for out willy. still in know that the sense framework is closed source but still getting the same fun of 2.3.7 will a great add on.

Has the New camera API for Android 5.0 become available now that we are getting 5.0 roms?
Really looking forward to using the new features.
If not, what aspect of these new things are we waiting for to get support? Is it something in AOSP that we have to wait for, or something with the apps or roms themselves?

I know that AOSP and all the roms using it's base, can't really handle the camera of the G3.
Could you specify?

Well you're gonna get the new API, but it's going to be drastically limited since the LG camera needs an LG driver.
So you might have a feature more or two, but it's really no use when the camera is degraded to 2011 quality and video is only 15 fps.
There is a lot more to this than the API of the operating system. The driver is where the magic is at.

I actually put up a post some time ago asking the same question, but the answer remains the same, it's probably not going to happen any time soon. Not to mention other problems that relates to G3 + AOSP. Example could be the IR remote controller.
I know that some developers had luck with AOSP + LG G2 with the camera, where they ported it, but AFAIK it was more or less crashing all the time and missing features and functions, so at the end of the day it wasn't really worth the effort.
Now what I have done is simply use LG's Lollipop and then tweak it all the way to AOSP, retaining all the good stuff
LG's rom can actually be made very nice including in performance and that comes from a guy whose old phone was a Nexus 5 with Lollipop
The ports of LGs camera always worked great for me on AOSP. And given how ridiculously simple the camera app is for the G3 I'd expect it to be even easier to get working.
I'm OK with sticking on stock Lolipop Roms if that means having access to the 5.0 Camera API. I just have to wait to get there since I'm on VZW.
Are you able to use the API on your Lollipop stock rom?

The lollipop roms from LG do not feature a camera driver for the new camera2 api. That is a shame for two reasons. First of all the new api gives you a lot of new options (manual mode, raw export among others) which in turn enable developers to implement neat tricks like the super sensor from A Better Camera. Overall a huge opportunity! Secondly the LG Flex2 with the exact same camera module (AFAIK) has the new api.
So please everyone ask LG about that. They might eventually listen. Or maybe some rom developer could port the driver over from the Flex2.

Indeed it is the firmware. However XCam LG by xdabbeb acheives much if what I'd hoped for from the camera API. Bitrate/compression control, RAW (DNG format) support, ISO control and some shutter speed settings.

alot of people dont get it
the orinal rom is using bin files that are close source and only working for that rom ,
so to port it , you need to port all of it , not just the app( only app is easy) but getting the whole framework to run a hell.
you can port the app , but will have no effect noone will -> because it has no effect
porting all files , is hard its closed sourced
and building a stock app for cam is the same as downloading any other app from market (you don't have the source for all de features you get with the normal rom)
and witch cam work best depends on the user , but i guess that a lot will say stock is better
eh
I wouldn't worry about it, you don't miss out on all that much anyways. Just a few features are not usable through generic camera apps. I personally use the Google Camera app and love how it works with my G3 on AOSP (BlissPop 3.4); though, I do notice a slower focus time due to no laser focusing.

This thread hurts my head.
This phone has been out for a year and a half, there's been millions and millions of man hours gone in to developing, tweaking and messing with the workings of this phone, yet there is still no camera that matches the quality of the stock camera on AOSP. Just accept that it isn't possible and likely will never be possible like it was mentioned earlier.

Only the main 24mm camera has FULL support for Camera2 API. The rest of the cameras all have LIMITED support.
The telephoto camera is actually a 20MP Samsung sensor that's cropped in to output a 12MP "70mm" image.
NOTE: Judging from the specs, Camera 0 and Camera 2 are the same camera. They're just reported twice in the Camera2API info dump.

Can you just post the full error log here?
nullpointerexception errors are the result of code trying to reference something that doesn't exist. So for example, Gcam runs some code on startup, but that code is trying to run a function or something that doesn't actually exist on the Xperia. This causes everything to crash.

Hopefully an Android Camera2 API developer can chime in. I see where the errors are, what objects they're trying to reference, but I'm unable to find any documentation or previous questions on Stack or GitHub that could possibly point to what the problem is.
