[Q] Android 4.2 Camera - HTC One V

Anyone here got a working Android 4.2 Camera that uses 5 Mega pixels instead of 3?
I've tried lots of mods out there but it doesn't seem to work.
Besides, I wonder why it only is able to use up to 3MP and not 5MP unlike other phones?

Try zooming in using 4.2 camera .. you wil find that its a bit blurry. Where as if your using cm10's camera its much more clear when you zoom in.try it.

I second that. The difference comes in when you're viewing it on the computer.
Hence, I was wondering if I could retain the 5MP on the 4.2 Camera because it's blazing fast.

Good for you. I don't have one though. I wouldn't say I depend on my camera a lot, but should there be any events, I'll depend on my phone's camera. Too bad that the new camera only takes up to 3MP. I was hoping if someone would fix it. It can easily replace the previous CM10 camera
in any custom rom.

The camera will be able to take 5mp shot when:
a. someone mods it
b. roms with android 4.2 starts coming for our device.

Agreed. Since I've no experience in coding and modding, I can only come here to seek help from more professional people.
I wonder if 1ceb0x will give it a go? Since it's available in paranoid android rom, naturally it's good to get it fix and share it with the community.

Lemme try it real quick
Nor possible without extensive mod. You need a new bluetooth stack as far as I know. CM6 does support the 8 megapixel camera.

megapixels has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the picture; only the size.
Well the quality is poor in cm6 and i see no options to chage the sizes or the quality if you know how let me know

When running CM6 click the gear looking icon in the menu strip, it will pop out a scrollable menu including options to choose resolution. There was one or maybe two nightly builds where it lost the 8mp setting, but it was back a day later. Also that is in the nature of nightly builds, they are made for the developer to test things, not really for users. All the other nightlies and the RC support 8mp.

Agreed. People do a lot of hard work to make this stuff. Don't bash it, especially when you are wrong.

Somewhere???
Forgive the noob question, but it's pretty on-topic (even if the thread is on the wrong boards )... Could a custom kernel swap the BT stack being used w/a Sense ROM or is part of it still largely dependent on the ROM itself? I noticed that Damage made some note of using part of Cyanogen's BT code in the kernel they were working with for their Froyo Sense ROM (beta 3.5, prior to Sprint/HTC's official announcement, who knows what'll happen now). Just exploring some possibilities, I'm a noob when it comes to Android's inner-workings.

Wasn't going to say anything but I couldn't resist. The OP couldn't figure out that his question belonged in the Q&A section, are you really surprised he's bashing something for not properly understanding how to use it? RTFM comes to mind. Or in this case, RTFWiki

Take a look here, took this pic yesterday while walking to get the mail.
http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/624963-81201021621AM
Thats a tiny thumbnail but you can see by the info there that the image itself is HUGE, if I bring it up to original size you can see the dew drops on the spiderwebs on the grass.
http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/789812-81201021951AM
As you can see (After it loads) the screenshot does not even get the entire image as it does not scroll sideways, this is an image using the CM6 RC.
As you can see the image quality is great (terrible focus right now though), but the image quality when you get the focus right is spot on.

[Q] alternate rom cameras

so i'm considering trying some other roms, but my biggest reason for not leaving TW is the camera app. i have CM9 on my touchpad, and i love the experience, so i'm curious about getting the more pure android on my phone. however, i can't sacrifice the camera.
what roms that have pure android also have cameras with options comparable to the TW? i use the different scene settings a lot, as well as the autofocus and macro focus, and panorama.
also, what kinds of things are integrated into TW that i may miss when switching to another rom?
thanks!
Thats the one thing that made me stay on TW so long..the camera. And it still makes me want to go back. I think most AOKP/AOSP/CM's all run the same camera but I could be wrong. Im running Liquid Smooth. The camera has scene mode, Focus Mode, Color Effect, Timer Mode, Burst Mode and a few other little settings. Also has autofocus, macro and Panorama. In my opinion the camera is OK but it does not compare to the TW camera.
As far as things you may miss from TW...I cant remember everything but stuff like Smart stay...Direct dial..I think that whole swipe right to call/swipe left to text. I think you would also not have S Beam. Some of the non TW ROM's you can still get SVoice. Im sure someone else will chime in and let you know what else would be missing.
yeah. i mean, i think i may just want the pure android because people are always talking about it, but i really do love my phone as it is, so i don't know if i need to bother with anything else. i was just curious.

If you want just make a back up...flash an AOKP ROM for a few days. If you dont like it Flash your back up again.
As for picture quality theres no difference. Your still using the same sensor, same aperture, same focal distance.
As for options and effects theres a 100 camera apps in the market that outperform the tw camera.

[Q] Getting sense type camera app on 2.3.7

Well i know there are lot of threats on this topic but i want to ask each and everybody for a while that is it possible to make a camera app similar to that of sense camera.
i will explain how. the sense camera has a great working on focusing the particular area on the screen. i mean for example you want click a flower then in sense camera app you just have to put your hand on the screen and it will tell the camera sensor to zoom on that particular level.
now this functionality is sort of supported by MIUI camera. but not a single app on the play store ever able come at par with the sense camera app. i tried and flashed almost all the apps available from marked, but in vain they failed. the image processing quality of sense app is also much better.
will we ever able to get like that kind of camera app for out willy. still in know that the sense framework is closed source but still getting the same fun of 2.3.7 will a great add on.
Impossible to have sense like camera on gb.Lgcamera can focus things decently.

because sense camera libs that were created for willy.Plus sense camera requires sense framework to work with which is almost impossible to port.HTC has integrated a lot of things within framework unlike using an apk separately for some purpose.

Unlock longer shutter speeds

Hello everyone,
Long story short, just bought nexus 5x, I have developed a few kernels in past for various devices, and I am little bit disappointed with n5x camera.
Phone does make awesome pictures, but it lacks longer shutter speeds, I would like to unlock it. Some people say that it is hardware limited, some that software, so here I am asking you how is it for real, and please, answer with any arguments, proofs, I would like to avoid guessing.
I would like to know if there is any sense in trying to unlock it and digging through source code.
Cheers
I managed to take photos with 1 s shutter speed with L Camera.

Most probably fake Bulb mode, which is as stated by app creator - fake. Just multiple 1/6s pictures stacked up together

Nexus 5 hardware is capable of capturing photos at 0.86s shutter speed (5x probably too). And this app uses this capability.
1 fps preview confirms this.

Now I hope that will be possible to implement this feaute on other (more advanced) camera apps (fv5,proshot,....)

I confirm the with L-Camere 0.3 is possible to have a shutter time of 1s (if I select 1/1,2) and the night photos are incredible
I asked to ProShot developer if is possible to implement this feature on his great app. I hope that is possible....
Looks like HTC 10 has same camera sensor and it's camera app allows to use 2s shutter speed, unfortunately, none of htc camera app versions let's me go manual on our nexus.
Also Xiaomi YI 2 action camera has it, and it allows up to 30s while taking pics. So i guess I/we would have to edit camera libs. I also emailed lcamera creator but I don;t think that he will respond.

Hey guys, I have Nokia 8 (TA 1012) and I don't like the fact that the longest exposure time is 1/2 s. Can you help me override it? To unlock longer exposure time.

Camera Lens

Hi guys,
Is there anyway to get the back camera lens replacement in India? If I switch it with any other lens like my old phones will it work?
The camera quality is horrible, to that of a 3 megapixel camera and it's all because I have so many scratches on the lens :crying:
Thanks for your reply

Only STOCK ROM knows how to 'talk' to the camera properly. CM based ROMs cannot. It's that simple. If camera quality is really important there is no alternative other than using stock ROM.
