Only some custom roms support 4.2.2 .
Read the information in the original thread. Its all given there.
But for most custom roms you need to downgrade to 4.1.2

Hey guys. This may have been asked already but i am coming from verizons gs4. and over there you can oly get custom recovery if youre on mdk bootloader.
I just bought this phone for my brother and it came with 4.12 (MG2)
I see everywhere that people were able to get 4.3. i tried updating through phone and through kies and says its up to date. so now my question i guess is what bootloader do i need to be on or what 4.x.x do i need to be on in order to root and get custom recovery to flash custom roms?
any help will be greatly appreciated.
I recommend not updating to stock 4.3 ROM as this will install Knox and you will have a non-downgradeable bootloader. You can use Odin to flash Philz Touch which is based on CWM. From there, you can flash custom ROMs.
Some ROMs require a 4.3 bootloader, but these would tend to be based on the stock Samsung ROM. I am running the latest Validus 4.4.2 on a stock Bell 4.1.2 bootloader without a problem.

Oh ok. Well I just succesfully rotted and installed latest touch cwm.
so if I stay on 4.1.2 I can basically flash any kitkat roms? Because I dont want to install a tw rom.
So another question what are some good 4.4 kk roms? As in stable for daily use that I could flash

Most kitkat ROMs will work with a 4.1.2 bootloader based on my experience.
I like the Ground Zero ROMs and use them on the s3, Moto Atrix HD, and Nexus 4.

For the past couple of weeks in have been trying to install a custom rom so I could enable bluetooth tethering for galaxy gear. My tmobile note 3 is rooted in follow every step perfectly, however, after rooting in use Odin to install custom recover after that is done in have my rom on my dad card and boot into recovery when flashing the rom the phone gets sent into reboot loop. If anyone can assist me to either install a custom rom to enable bluetooth tethering or some other way of enabling it would be much appreciated.

Most likely you are trying to flash a 4.4.2 KitKat Tmobile custom rom coming from
the NB4 4.3 stock Jellybean rom.
If that's the case then you need to Odin flash the official stock kitkat 4.4.2
rom before you can flash any of the 4.4.2 kitkat custom roms.
You can download the official 4.4.2 kitkat stock Odin flash rom from
http://SamMobile.com After flashing you will need to root the phone
again and flash a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.
Once that's done you will have no problems flashing the 4.4.2 kitkat custom roms.
Good luck!

Will try this as soon as I am home. I'm am currently on android 4.4.2 if that provides more information.
Its been so long since I installed a custom JB rom I can't see how to update to a custom 4.4.4 rom.
I've got KYRILLOSv8 and baseband rom XXMF1 and don't know the steps to take to flash a Carbon KitKat edition. I think I have to use ODIN to flash an official KitKat rom first then follow the instructions for the custom rom, is that correct?
Can I use ODIN to flash official KitKat over the custom KYRILLOSv8 or do I need to go back to official JB rom first?
Its just steps needed to go from JB custom to KK custom I'm unsure about and after a quick procedure guide so as not to end up in a mess. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
It was easier than I thought, flashed the lated JB rom in ODIN then installed custom KK rom and gapps.
hallo... as the title. i hope there is a solution for this problem, i upgraded the bootloader and its knoxed.. but i would to downgrade it to mj5.. to flash rom which is 4.3 jellybean

4.4.2 bootloader can't be downgraded. If you flash older bootloader, you will run into trouble.
If you want to jump back to 4.3, install Mobile Odin and flash the firmware. It flashes everything except the bootloader.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

Mobile Odin works without failure if you follow the procedure correctly.
Stock ROM (tar) and Custom ROM (zip) based on 4.3 bootloader will go into bootloop. There might be a way to get 4.3 custom ROM by flashing img files for 4.3 kernel, modem, etc., without flashing the bootloader. But you will be flirting with danger.
Also, 4.3 custom ROMs lack support these days. The developers have moved to 4.4.2.
It is advisable to stick to 4.3 stock Rom or use 4.4 Custom ROMs.

Ive been searching for awhile now but at work is my only time to do so and time is limited.. I am searching for a rom to run with ucdmg2 bootloader. I'm not really feeling up to updating the bootloader using odin.

Do you have a custom recovery installed?
You didn't say, but I can infer that you have an i747 and not an i747M based on the MG2 bootloader.
Without a custom recovery you are stuck using Odin to get a custom recovery in order to flash anything other than a stock rom. There are recovery flashable bootloader and modem files for 4.3 and newer bootloaders and modems.
With the 4.1.2 bootlaoder and modem you could run Jellybean roms from CM ( CM10.x ) or those based on CM or AOSP. There may be a few AOSP bassed on KitKat you could use, but it would probably be a version that is more than a year and a half old. Anything newer will need a 4.4.2 bootloader.
