[Q] How do I fix Epic 4g Camera?

Hello guys, I just recently rooted my android phone and I installed a custom rom (Nebula 1.0.7) However whenever I use any video messaging app (Yahoo, Qik, and Fring) I notice that my camera is always sideways and I appear the same way towards the other guy. My front camera would always appear to be sideways even if I were to rotate my phone.
I never had this problem before, is there any way to 'mirror' my camera so that it would look upright?
Any help would be very appreciated

Same thing here. I don't think there is a fix for this until we get the official froyo.

Thats quite a shame, I wonder why they can't seem to fix it.

I had the same issue running stock DK28. Sometimes it would rotate correctly, others not. I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough!

Its Screen Rotation Lag.....I believe? I have been trying to fix that for a month or so myself to no avail. Its just a matter of time and a fix will become available. (Froyo/NebulaROM7Sisters-Ext4CWM3)

​I think I found the Fix, Download spare parts from the Market. Open it, in the section marked transitions....set that to fast. I just tried it and cleared up all lag for me.

I use oovoo and it works very well. I know it's a hassle downloading yet another video chat program but it's quite a bit smaller than Yahoo! video and actually works better.
You can video chat from phone to computer, phone to phone, etc.

Stock Browser issues

Just wondering if anyone else has the same issues that I get with the stock browser.
It seems quite sluggish when scrolling but the main problem is when zooming in, it is slow to redraw. When zooming out I get a large white screen around the part I was looking at and have to wait a couple of seconds for it to redraw. I have looked at various browser hands on one YouTube and none seem to have this issue.
It also seems to just close itself occasionally with no error message.

I've installed Chrome beta and it offers a lot better browsing experience. It doesnt seem to have the redrawing bug when you zoom in.

Those reviews on the Internet have an updated version of the OS. Most likely this update fixed the issue.

Ya, the browser is terrible slow when it comes to scrolling and pinch to zoom. But I never had a delay of seconds. Definitely something wrong btw with some lower level implementations . Stock ICS browser has the same problems.

How nice for HTC to make sure the review devices were updated hehe.
Maybe I have been spoiled with the browser experience on my Galaxy S2 with a custom rom . Pretty sure back when that was new I had similar issues.
At least some noted developers are already here and working on Roms.
Will give Chrome a try too.

Don't know if this for sure, but i faced non of the phone arena touch issues
i had 3 fingers gestures disabled in the phone settings and hence had full multitouch
if someone can confirm it works better with full multitouch?

Sounds weird. I spend at least 4 hours browsing on my phone everyday (news, forums, deviantart, 500px, etc) and I honestly cannot compare my experience to any other. It's butterly smooth, fast as hell, and most vivid. My only complaint is the battery life, I can't get more than 5 hours of browsing on WiFi...no matter what.
I think you may have a rogue app in the background. Try reflashing your stock ROM without restoring any apps, and see if the problem continues.

this video shows exactly how i described the browser, locked 60fps with only the tiling/flash effect when the page snaps, happens in split second, first time i experienced such a smooth stock browser, its much smoother than opera mobile

im convinced the issues you guys mention are related to the 3 touch gesture mode in settings, i had this setting disabled

I had lag also and when i got the phone ran the multi touch and would only record 2 fingers max, disabled HTC's 3 finger swipe and now it is very responsive. Ran the test again and now records up to 9 fingers.

hold on a second! first thanks for confirming the browser issues are related to this setting
maybe this is the cause of all problems!
3 finger swipe is actually used to send the image/mirror to the HDMI output, maybe its causing the other issues?

I should thank you for bring up disabling the 3 finger swipe which reminded me of the the touch sensor test i ran when i got the phone.

Android 4.2 Issues on Galaxy Nexus

Hello Guys
Let's share the bugs that everyone experiencing with the new stock JOP40C Android 4.2 for Galaxy Nexus
I'll go first
I have a problem when in a call the phone keeps doing a weird vibration and once i done the call i find the phone on the homescreen and have to go to the notifications menu to hang up
the other issue is randomly force close for the launcher and some apps
the camera is very laggy when rotating from landscape to portrait
anybody experiencing those issues ?

I am not. Also, and unrelated, I'd like to point out the redundancy of your title. Android 4.2 issues on, say android 4.0.4 would be revolutionary, but as you've directed this... Anyways, did you update ota, or flash the image manually? I've read of many issues from the image flashes prior to ota, that I haven't experienced at all since my ota on my drive home.

In stock browser in full screen mode i'm having a weird effect on loading bar on top, don't know if thats supposed to be like that or not.. just strange and sometimes the adress bar becomes bugged strange behavour

Anyway, this update SUCKS!!!!!!! I was trying to be positive about it... Focusing on the cool new stuff... But then that shifted to at least neutral with the crappy changes.... But now this just sucks!!!!!!!!! I just got my first launcher FC EVER!!!! On my galaxy nexus.
No root, never flashed, been stock all the way on this phone just like any regular user. I used to root on my tmobile g2 but decided to keep my gnex all stock.
So what he hell!?!?! Force closing stock launcher!?!?!? Are you freaking kidding me?!? This update is turning into a total joke, its not funny google! Your pulling anAPPLE move on your most loyal customers(nexus customers!)
EDIT: this is a rant.. I was pissed at how badly 4.2 has screwed my phone up. But no i didnt mean the part about being as bad as apple..
I do think 4.2 sucks though. Especially compared to 4.1.2, in my experience they seemed to have sacrificed new features and "style" over stability with 4.2

And also I find that when the camera shot in landscape mode, about 10% of the upper and lower part of the viewfinder are cropped (i.e. the things you actually shot are more than what you saw in the camera app)

1). I don't have problem with phone call
2). Yes, launcher FCed! But only happened once after first reboot after flashing factory image.

No, just needed to rant
Plus the fc had just happened like 5min before i posted that. It was weird... I was browsing here on chrome, then pressed the home button and tried opening the launcher, and it got stuck loading for like 10sec... Then fc'd. Soo i tried again and it got stuck again and fc'd. Third time it finally worked.
I expect these things on rooted devices or custom launchers... But on stock its just sad, especially when it's never happened before the ota.

Mines running very stable.

Same I have no issues so far!

got no issues at all ! amazing battery enhancement for me ! from 2:3 hours of screen on time (from 100-10)to 3:2 hours of screen on time from (80-1%) charging to 100 and testing it out now ! m happy and the phone always sleeps even when the screen is on i found this part funny ! i still think its a bug !

Yep

Flickering in Notification Bar
I have observed one strange thing on takju 4.2, If the notification window in already pulled down and and suddenly some new notification comes(like sms, email etc), all the notifcations start flickering wildly till I clear them all.
I am on stock no rooting nothing.

GNEX 4.2 default browser

Really hope someone can answer this for me, I've got a stock GNEX just got 4.2 by deleting my Google Services Framework cache and hitting update. Everything seems to be ok, but I still have the stock (blue icon) browser, I thought the default browser is chrome on 4.2. Also I don't seem to be able delete it, no biggie just annoying to have an app that I'm never going to use.
Anyway to remove it manually without rooting etc..

Only issue I've noticed so far is the camera rotation is indeed very slow on my phone too.

Now, in 4.2, every notification makes my phone vibrate. This doesn't happen with earliers versions. I don't know if it is a "new feature", but I don't like it.

According to Google : Chrome is not part of the AOSP but for the new devices such as Nexus 4,7,10 it's the default browser but old devices like Galaxy Nexus i guess for now the default browser will be the Android Browser , who knows maybe with next major release of Android that will change
As for how to delete the default browser you need root privilege to delete the app apk from the system apps using something like Root Explorer

I had three soft reboots already since yesterday (at least that I noticed, maybe more while I wasn't looking). This is a clean install (flash_all.sh from the factory image).
To hell with it, I'm going back to my beloved CM10.

Settings do not fit screen

I am currently using CM10.1 by OWL Project. It was a very nice ROM, smooth and all. But, somehow when I go into Settings>Apps, the the app does not fit the entire screen(The sides are black, and the app is very small, leaving a lot of space between the app and my Wildfire S's screen). Also, Youtube in Browser does not work. When I click on the video, it would goto full screen and then suddenly go back to normal, and the video was said to have finished playing. I wonder if anybody else had the same issues as me? Thanks to anybody who would reply to this post.

It's a bug....all of the users have it,CM10.1 is still a work in progress...you have to be a little patient as the developers are working on it

New Google Maps and YouTube poor performance

Has anyone else noticed maps 7.xx the most recent YouTube update have serious performance issues on our device? I run CM10.1(Beta 1). The maps has very severe stuttering with portions of the UI jumping all over the screen and YouTube plays all videos(even with HQ selected) in a horrible pixilated resolution. You can see jagged edges throughout the video, this wasn't the case with past versions whether mobile or wifi? I've seen similar complaints posted on other forums and apparently the maps issue is an issue with CM10.1 on older phones. Anyone had these experiences too? Any solutions perhaps(apart from downgrading)?

Currently Google is making things worse than they were before. Didn´t notice this on Youtube but the Navigation in 7.x sucks big time. It´s not usable and loosing the GPS signal all the time. Plus earlier when I was searching something and wanted to be navigated there, I was asked which navigation app I want tu use. Is it either Googles Navigation or Navigon I´m also having installed. So I had the choice which navi app I wanted to use. Now I can´t choose and the build in navigation isn´t usable anymore too.
This really sucks as earlier I simply had to make a short stop (here you are not allowed to touch your phone while driving a car), do a search on Maps and a few klicks later I was navigated to my destination. Now I have to write down the adress found in Maps, close Maps, start Navigon and write there the adress to be navigated.

Thanks for the reply. Are you by any chance using CM10.1? Can you confirm the stuttering and unstable UI on maps? And also confirm videos play fine on YouTube while on mobile(set to HQ) with no pixelation or jagged edges in the videos?

I´ve tried both on CM10. Youtube worked fine as far I can tell. There was some pixelaration and jagged edges but only when the screen in screen thing appeared. About Maps I can´t tell. It was night when I used it to navigate and most of the time I listened just to the voice but when I noticed it´s loosing all the time GPS and took a look at the screen I saw the position cursor jumping like a crazy horse showing me I´m either in a field or in the woods. So I turned it off.

Your description of the navigation app sounds about right.. , does this mean downgrading is our only option then?

Yes, but only if you want to use googles navigation as the older is working much better. Just if you want to select which nav app to usefrom within Maps, then I have to disappoint you. This didn´t work anymore even after downgrading.

Ok thanks, I've downgraded now to version 6.14.4 and things seem to be back to normal.
