Can someone please tell me how I can get the Samsung keyboard to stop commandeering my phone? I set the default to Swiftkey and use it for whatever I'm currently doing, then the next time I need to type, the Samsung keyboard is back as the default.
I'd just delete the Samsung keyboard if I knew how, but I can't see a way to do it.
Thanks!

Have you tried removing it using titanium back up?

I thought of that, but unfortunately, since upgrading my OS my normal rooting method no longer works, and I'm still waiting for a program upgrade.

And you can't disable it in the apps section under settings?

Not that I can see. There might be a way, but I'm missing it.

Thanks a lot. I just finally got a chance to try this, and it doesn't work (unless I'm missing something again). In Language and Input settings, Samsung keyboard is checked and grayed out so that I can't uncheck it. In application manager, when I select it, the Disable button is grayed out.
It looks like Samsung is set on forcing me to use their keyboard.
I had the issue with the default keyboard resetting on reboot on TW roms. Paid apps don't become available until after the keyboard is set. I'm on pacman now and it stays as default regularly.
It never reset after each use though.

U probably have to have another keyboard selected as default before you're able to do this. Is your phone rooted?

I have been using SwiftKey 3 for a while, but every day (at least once sometimes more) I am asked to 'Choose input method'. How do I stop this and keep SwiftKey as my keyboard?

When does it tell you? Is it when you are required to type or just randomly out of the blue?
I'm rooted, and have Swiftkey. I also have Titanium Backup app. If I had your issue, one way to deal with it, would be to freeze the stock keyboard via Titanium.

Yes apparently there is a bug with the latest JB for AT&T so when you reboot your phone it defaults to the Samsung Keyboard.

Well, that may be it, as it does 'sometimes' default back to the Samsung keyboard. But only sometimes, sometimes it asks and SwiftKey is already selected. And, it doesn't take a reboot. In fact, it just showed up now as I write this post. I am using a rooted stock LK3 rom.

I downloaded the swift keyboard app since I like it more than the Samsung standard keyboard.
My issue is that even tho I set the swift keyboard as default, when I restart my phone, it will always revert back to samsung. Any ideas how to stop this?

This has already been brought up several times on the forum. Check out this link and remember to always give a good search first before starting new threads. Cheers

I always use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall the stock keyboard. So I've never had a problem with this.

I sometimes run stock TW, sometimes (currently) AOSP. But I'm always rooted.
Is there anyway to disable S-Voice?
Looked in settings and I can't find anything.
S-Voice seems to have a mind of it's own.
It starts by itself and it can be quite disturbing in the wrong setting.
I am not rooted and don't feel confident enough to root.
Thanks,

Its classed as a system app, so there is no way to uninstall it if you havent rooted. You can use apps such as titanium backup to do so if you have rooted though.
If not, you should be able to find it in settings > application manager > all > s voice > disable
I uninstalled it so cant confirm it that second option i suggested will work.
I disabled it in app manager like heartsjonmon says above. I haven't seen it since, thank God. I used to accidently hit the home button through the cover and set it off while I was carrying it. I am so glad that annoyance is gone! What was Samsung thinking!?!

Actually looking back at my posts it looks like I just unchecked everything in the s Voice menu and that alone seems to be enough. I can't even find the app in my app manager. If you look at my posts, you will find two other suggestions that other people made top disable it too which should also work.

If I push the settings button of the keyboard it's only reveals me the voice typing, the handwriting and the settings icon. What can I do? Please I need your help.
Are you sure you are using the Samsung keyboard? Go to Setting》Language & Input and make sure that the defualt keyboard is set to samsung.

Yes. I use the Samsung keyboard and is also as my default keyboard. Also i have unchecked any other alternative keyboard. I am not sure, but i think that maybe this problem has occurred because of my kernel edition or my rooting state. Maybe the attached photos help you understand my problem.
Well, I find the solution and I think is a bug. I go to -> accessibility -> magnification gestures and set them to off state. I speak today with the samsung techical department and maybe they release a solution via update firmware.
thanks

How in the heck can we stop this monster short of rooting and debloating? Everytime I try anything with contacts there it is and I have to hit the back button to escape. There doesn't seem to be a way anywhere to kill this atrocity of an app.
Okay, call me stupid, it gives more options NOT to use it once your SIM is active. So used to HTC Dev Editions, or GPE. Mods can delete.
You should be able to disable it through Apps in Settings. What I usually do is just have it set up then in contacts under settings manually uncheck it so it doesn't sync anything.

They don't let you disable it on the G2, I doubt they'd do so on the G3. One of the reasons I ordered a T-Mobile version.
You'd probably have to do a root-debloat to get rid of it.
I rooted and it's gone after some debloating.

Any scripts yet? I don't know how to debloat manually.

Download titanium backup and freeze all of the AT&T apps this way they can be unfrozen when you need to do an OTA.
Simple....root it and use a root uninstall app. No reason not to root

On my LG G3 I had the same problem and later on a friend asked me to do this and it worked perfectly.
Go to the dialer and type *#*#2666#*#*
Select "Registration" and choose "Completed"
And you should be ok.
