Wi-fi not turning on - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey guys since last night I've been having almost the same issues as this guy from this thread but even after wiping data and such and flashing a different rom/kernel I still have trouble scanning wi-fi and even used Wi-Fi fixer apps and still can't access none can anybody tell me what I can do to solve this problem? I would really appreciate it thanks

Sure thing I also had bluetooth issues if that helps any. If i turned on Bluetooth, wifi would enable but bluetooth wouldnt ...weird stuff. A complete wipe / Odin to stock fixed it.
Let me know if that worked for you too

It worked but if I restore a backup I would lose WiFi again then I have to restore stock in order to get WiFi back ...then when running an aosp rom WiFi would work for a while then the same issue would return... Very awkward I know :/

Serious WiFi problems

My WiFi doesn't turn on anymore. I have tried many different ROMs, radios and even switched from twrp to cmw and nothing seems to work. I click the WiFi toggle and then all I see is WiFi starting. Does anyone know what my issue may be or some way to fix it?

I currently have the same problem. I just got the mine used. Rarely it works and most of the time it just says wifi starting. I searched and found about the wlan test with the following code *#232339# and it didnt work. Tried various wifi fix apps, still not fixed. I flashed it with Jedi mind trick, still no success. Could this be a hardware issue? Does any body know where the WIFI module is on the motherboard?

Google Map/GPS Broken

My GPS doesn't lock anymore. I think it may be something with the phone itself because I've tried more than four different ROMS and it searches for GPS/location on all of them.
I am using the latest Pacman AOKP ROM as my daily driver. I tried another GPS app (telnav) and I got an instant lock. I also tried the GPS fix app but that didn't help.
Does any one know what might have gone wrong or have suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks

I had the same weird problem you have. I got it working and it's been fine ever since.
Heres wat I did.
Went to settings > Application manager > ALL > Maps
Cleared Cache
Cleared Data
Uninstalled Updates
Then Unninstalled Maps
Rebooted and installed Maps from the market.
Enabled the GPS
Started navigation and it worked just like it should.
Good Luck!

Does anyone know why this is happening to some people? I didn't do anything different than I normally do when flashing, but for whatever reason my GPS stopped working.

Actually I was in AOKP and then I flashed the latest version of Frosty, but my GPS was working after that. Then I flashed a few different Kernels to see which one worked better. I flashed Ktoonsez first, then Deviant, and finally I settled on Xone Kernel. It was then that I realized my GPS didn't work. So I'm not sure what messed it up.

Am I the only one with Wifi sleep issues?

Just about every time my phone deep sleeps, wifi shuts off completely. I've tried multiple roms and kernels, and every advanced wife setting combination possible. Thinking it's a hardware issue in which case bye bye nexus.
I've googled and googled and only really found suggestions like "uncheck wifi optimization" or "make sure turn wifi off while sleeping is (un)checked". Tried all of that, and still persists.
Anyone else have this issue, or can someone give me an out of the box tip?
Thanks

You've probably already tried this, but have you tried a full wipe? Also, have you tried wiping you device's internal memory (SD card), and have you tried reverting to complete stock and starting over?
its a known issue with 4.2.2 roms, nothing much you can do about it, temporarily it can work but problem will repeat itself
I have done a full wipe, but not wiped the sd card, or reverted to stock. Hoping to avoid such a tedious task.
So my options are either suck it up, revert to a 4.1 rom, or get a new phone?
Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion, let me try and report back later to see if this works.
This problem has been constantly bugging me that I want to dump this phone. Seriously disappointed with Google over all these bugs...
but I keep wifi optimization off... should I keep it on?
If you are unlocked, you can flash some custom kernels to fix the problem. I use Fancy Kernel and the developer included a fix in the kernel.

My wifi will NOT TURN ON

So I wanted to flash the new jedi rom on my note2. I was running myrom. Through recovery I wiped the system and then I wiped cached. The usual. I have flashed many roms so I knew what I was doing.
So then I flashed the new jedi rom. And its wasnt working because this kept popping up without even letting me use the phone-> 'android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly'. And then I was like wth? I flashed back and recovered my previous rom and data and that rom worked just fine again.
So I did some reserch and I came across another forum that claims the fix is to flash SUPERWIPE. So I did so, then I flashed the jedirom again and it was working fine without any popups of any errors.
Then I noticed my wifi would not even turn on at all. I press the botton to turn on, and it says turning on, then it will go back to saying turn on, as if I never tried to turn it on at all. Please help guys as much as u can. Everything else works jist fine on my phone btw.
Tmobile sght889 gnote2
Its happening to me too. Except for the whole other problems. It happens randomly, not only wifi stays "turning on" my bluetooth doesnt work. This gets fixed over time idky but its really REALLY annoying.
Had that happen on my phone. Wifi and bluetooth wouldn't turn on. It would fix itself sometimes, but as soon as I leave a wifi area, it stops working even if I go to another wifi area. The only fix I know of is to do a warranty exchange. That's what I had to do.
My bluetooth isnt working as well! Wth x [ I need to fix this

It happened to me once before not to long ago and I returned it for an exchange. But a couple weeks ago I flashed a carbon nightly and the WiFi wouldn't toggle on again, flashed a different kernel and presto it was back.
Im not to knowledgeable with kernals in all honesty. Im very comfortable with pretty much anything else tbh. What kernal would you recommend for me? I guess ill try that, hopefully it would work for me

WiFi not working

Hey everybody!
Currently I am running the Lifeless v14 Rom on my phone and the phone will not connect to a WiFi connection. After I input the password it just goes to saved but will not connect. I have tried with multiple connections and different ROMs and it only does this on stock based ROMs. I would appreciate any help, thanks in advanced.

If you haven't figured this out yet, maybe this will work.
ZVB has some issues with WiFi. Turn WiFi off, reboot phone, then check to see if Wi-Fi stayed off. If it stayed off, then you should just be able to turn it on and it should work. If it turned itself back on, turn it off, reboot, and more it should work.
If you have a tethering app, that will mess with WiFi. You can only run one or the other per reboot.

can't remember if lifeless has this but try turning off the sprint connections optimizer... wife got a new lgog this past week and was having similar problems with our WiFi at home turned that off and she hasn't had any problems since... also if your using a battery saving app like battery guru make sure you disable any setting where it regulates you're WiFi connection do the same with any apps you have that regulate data turn it off then see if problem persists

I think I tried it before but I'll try it again since I reflashed. I haven't installed any apps whatsoever so I know there is nothing that should be regulating my WiFi connection. Also whenever I tap on Connection Optimizer it says "Setup has not finished yet. Please try again later." I don't know how long I need to wait, it's been a few hours now..
Scratch that, turning off the connections optimizer didn't work.

Did you ever get this sorted out? I've been having the same problem for the last week. I ended up going back to stock ZVB but it's still not working. I tried updating the radio, zeroing and reflashing my EFS but no luck.
