Help!! My nexus will only boot to initial boot page and then freezes each and every time. I can't get custom recovery to boot or Odin download mode. Bootloader obviously included here.
Because I installed custom kernel, rooted, etc. I can't send phone in like this as the custom kernel is part of my boot animation. Any ideas?
Thx in advance!

so you cant get into even the bootloader?
if thats the case, you need to try OMAP flash. search for the thread about that and there should be instructions.

If you have a toro. Wugfresh has a toolkit. You might ask him for help. Good luck
where is the 4.4?
Thanks for your insight. I'm going to try an omap flush and hope for the best. haven't heard anything left to try otherwise.
I use wugfresh tool kit as well as the other tools and they have nothing for this situation. I'm sure it's not that common an issue
Herr hours nothing!!

Hey peeps - another annoying n00b question (sorry)
I have the Doom v3 kernel and stock 2.3.3
Just want to know how I can boot into recovery so I can install a ROM zip?
I have tried every combination of buttons on startup including Power then tapping and holding Back and I cant get into recovery mode.
Please help i really want to try the GingerStation rom
Turn device off. When off press the power button once, then start tapping any hardware button untill device boots into recovery. You can also try doomlords xCharge app from the market.
Sorry i havent been very active in the forums recently. I will be updating rom soon with some cool features and a new name

AFAIK you have to boot into recovery the standard way. Like the person above described. Once you do that CWM creates a directory in /cache called "recovery" then xCharge works fine
OmG it worked.. thanks alot guys!!

Are you rooted?
If not, do you know how to do that?
No, it's completely stock, I've read I have to flash a file in recovery, I've got it, but I don't know how to reboot in recovery with button combination.
To get cwm, root using doomlords easy toolkit, search development
Then install this app and click install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler
After you have installed that, boot on your phone, and when you see the sony ericsson screen, repeatedly tap volume down until you get into cwm
WOW! It's very easy this way, thanks a lot
Another quick question, now bootloader is unlocked?
Can I flash any custom roms like any other device? (flash in recovery mode)
Thanks again.
That way i showed is to install CWM with a LOCKED bootloader.
This will allow you to flash STOCK based roms, no others
This is not unlocking bootloader, just getting CWM
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you have to go to the sony website or pay to unlock it
Oh, so I can't flash CM roms, but I can with stock based, right?
I knew about Sony website, but I though there was other ways to have the bootloader unlocked.
Well, thank you a lot, now I have to find a good stock based rom.

Happy to help
I have a Galaxy Nexus that yesterday started to reset itself, freeze on the ICS boot logo and then reboot, rinse and repeat. I got it into fastboot mode, unlocked the bootloader to reset it, re locked and attempted to boot only for it to freeze again.
So again I unlocked the bootloader, to attempt to reflash the factory images from the Google, when trying to flash the bootloader I got the error " FAILED (status read failed (too many links))
attempted to fastboot reboot-bootloader and the phone crashed and now won't turn on, computer won't detect it, can't get into recovery or get any signs of life at all.
Any suggestions? Or am I royally screwed?
So you can't even get to the bootloader? If you can, flash clockwork mod then flash the cwm flashable version of the ROM. (Stock ROM that is)
If not, you are pretty much screwed IMO, but you'll never know...

Nope, can't get to the bootloader
Unless you can get to your boot loader there is nothing you can do. Sorry bud but like you said you are screwed.

Ok I found the file, when I plug the phone in it shows up under device manage as OMAP 4440 for about 4 seconds then disappears, so I can;t install the drivers to it. Any suggestions at this point?

Hi Glevitan!
After when we closed our conversation, i tried to follow your instructions and update/install a rom (eg: MIUI, JELLYTIME...and others too). In the recovery menu it sais that the zip install was successfull, but when I trie to reboot the phone, it stuck at the hct logo (without the: quartly brilliant words).
Can you help meg how to get my phone back to work?
best regards,
Karraly
Flash the boot.img. read my sig.
I am attempting to make a Cyanogenmod recovery and need to know if I attempt to flash it in fastboot and it doesn't work, will I be able to flash back my other recovery (TWRP).
Everything compiles correctly and yet the update.zip will not flash over the TWRP recovery, so I am thinking I should try to install it using fastboot. but I don't want a brick!
It looks like I may need a jig (factory cable), due to the device lock implemented to allow computer access. Anybody ever used one? I have access to one, just need to make sure I can get the boot loader to accept fastboot commands.
Have you tried just to boot the recovery image? Using fastboot type : fastboot boot "my_revovery.img"
This loads the recovery in memory but nothing is permanent. I did this for a while before actually flashing twrp. I wouldn't suggest you flash anything until you can get it to boot. Then I would flash using fastboot, I never liked flashing recoveries from within other recoveries

Cool! didn't know I could do that with a recovery. What I found out just a few moments ago is that I could flash the recovery and then when/if it didn't work, I could reboot the phone then get back into fastboot mode and reinstall the old recovery. I like your way better! Thank you.
Any progress on getting the CM recover to boot using fastboot?

I will succeed! Attempt number 82, no not really, well, maybe. Lol.
everything compiles properly and when I do a fastboot boot, all I get is the Google screen, then nothing. I think that I'm going to try an earlier version of Java As I am using the latest version possible for the compilation process and apparently the earlier version works, and I'm not sure that this one does even though it should!
So, that will be my next step and I won't be giving up anytime soon.
Good luck with your efforts, I hope you succeed. I would like to learn more about developing but have never tried. What is the guide you are using for CM?

Everything from the cm site. Links are on my other distro but you can search for how to build cyanogenmod recovery to get started.
Right now I'm back on the kernel working on battery savings.
I switch back and forth occasionally.
Hi!
A few days ago I flashed Gohma rom and smart me, pressed reset device at the settings. after that there was bootloop. I tried to flash stock image through fastboot, it flashed succesfully but now I cannot get out of that bootloader screen. I have tried every stock images but no luck... Whenever I power on the device it vibrates three times immediately and boots to bootloader.
So, do you have any advice here?
In the gohma ROM zip, there's a return to stock script. Try to remove the two adb commands from that script and run it to flash your watch.
It's helped some other people.
