Q & a for roms by oblikas... - LG Optimus G Pro

I have created this thread for all the questions you guys may have for Roms that are created by my good friend Oblikas. That way the actual Dev section will be clean...

I'm having some battery drain running any 4.3 ROM. Checked better battery stats. It said suspend back off under kernel wake lock and that WiFi running was at 100%. Any ideas at why this process won't shut off despite WiFi itself being off?

Also I want to clean my phone and start with a fresh slate of a phone only running 4.3. Will doing any certain wipe achieve this? I always do the factory reset wipe with twrp before flashing any ROM. But I want to clean out all junk files from previous Roms.
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Try a reflash and I recommend always doing a full wipe when installing any Roms.
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Can you explain what you mean by full wipe? I am always hesitant because I am not sure if I could remove root or my recovery if I do the wrong wipe. I toggled WiFi on and off then restarted the phone and it seems to have fixed it but I will reflash soon anyway to get a fresh phone with no left overs.

Yeah no problem...
Full wipe includes System, Data, Cache, and Dalvicke(spell check) Cache. I also recommend wiping the Internal SDcard as well because of left over data from different Roms. Becareful though when wiping Internal, that your Rom zip is on the external SDcard so that you don't get stuck in recovery without a Rom to flash.
If you're using TWRP everything needing to be wiped will be under Wipe>advanced wipe... Do not wipe you external sd!!!
Hopefully that helps...Let me know if you need anything else.

Ok on the carbon rom someone said you could flash the slim gapps so that you would have the complete dark mode and the only problem I'm having with that is the keyboard will not swipe type it shows the gesture trail but doesn't actually type anything
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 4

Correction: I think its because of the slim gapps. I flash pa gapps and I can swipe.

I'm getting great battery life on Carbon, stock is the best but I cannot complain. I turned off all FB and Hangouts notifications and my battery time went way up! Make sure you don't have a ton of apps pushing data.

Compatibility with F240 models?
As I understand none of these ROMs flash a modem, right?

No...but you can try it..prolly won't work at all.

What modem do you have? Also check to make sure touch sound isn't turned on. That will give you major wake locks and drain your battery.
I'm going on 15hours with music playing all day and I still have 35% left. 2hours onscreen time.

Look at the 3rd post on the ROM page and make sure you follow those instructions...it takes away a lot of demons.
Google...Yahoo...Bing...and even XDA all have a search function...USE IT.

Do I need to flash another modem I thought about that but the op did not say to. Everything else is running perfect the voice calls seems to be what's draing it
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda app-developers app

The ROM does not alter the modem, just run the original modem in madmacks cm.

Flashing Carbon Rom Nightlies
I know it's definitely not recommended when changing ROMs but if I'm just flashing a new version of Carbon or any updated ROM can I dirty flash over the same rom? I've been a flashaholic since the walls came down with glorious LGOG Pro ROMs. I'd like to settle in and not have to input information and re-set up the phone every 8 hours. Thanks ^_^

We had one tester dirty flash, he said no issues arose but the nightly did not have a lot of commits. Hope that helps

You have to try different radios. Either way any of the radios shouldnt do that to ur data connection so I guess also make sure your wiping thoroughly when switching roms.
Indeed strange

I'm using twrp recovery, I wipe system, factory reset, ROM, dalvik/cache, cache, fix permissions, reboot and wait 10 minutes, then reboot.
But when I did the restore I did the wipe system, factory reset, restore, fix permissions, then reboot.
Should I have wiped the cache too before restoring?

Is there any chance your data is being throttled?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Nah just started my new month on the tenth, get 5GB's, haven't even used 1 yet.
I did the full write before a restore, still nothing. I'm using data now but its like slower than 1x

I just freshly flashed mind trick v8 earlier, went fine for a while, now it's acting up again. Plus whenever I do the speed test, it seems like the GPS icon won't go away.
Should I try another radio with the mind trick Rom? Which would you suggest if so? I hear the skyrocket one is good?

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Speed test keeps seeking like it's freezing, or skipping, nothing will load unless I use Wi-Fi, someone please help, so far I've tried different roms and radios.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Try UVLG3 or the Koodo radio. I am on the Koodo radio now and I feel like I could download a web page from inside a room with lead walls.
I thought TDJ posted modded radios for some ROMs...not sure if they're still accessible though...
I've tried everything, I just finished odining stock 2.3.6 then re rooting, stick 4.0.4 right now. I'm so baffled Odin should have fixed it.
Could any of my problems be how the phone was unlocked when I bought it?
When I signed in, using the initial setup wizard also, it didn't even load, just sat on signing in, had to restart the phone.

From what I gathered I think u said your restoring. If by that u mean apps and data using titanium then don't do that.
Flash darkside.super.wipe
Flash a Rom (doesn't matter)
Flash darkside.cache.wipe
Reboot
Wait 10min
Reboot
Setup ( by that I mean sign in to Google)
DO NOT RESTORE OR DOWNLOAD ANYTHING
Download speedtest from market and run it to see what u get.
Post your results

No I don't mean restoring like that. I meant like restoring the phone to how it was out of the box. I never restore my data or apps.
The problem is I'm not running a Rom though, so I don't get why it's saying that?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
P.s. I did those steps exactly. I'm averaging 1.5mbps down and up.
Hmmm
I guess it could be three things.
A weird change in your area Is giving ****ty data reception. Which is ruled out if you get those speeds anywhere you go. Also highly unlikely unless your running an underground lab with crazy radiowaves spewing everywhere.
Your phone is shot. Which could be tested by inserting your SIM card into another gsII and attempting to get better readings. If your data is back to normal in that scenario then the phones shot. If it's still messed up then it's ur account.......which leads to the final thing.
You have been accidentally throttled or something else on your carriers end.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I hope it's not those things. I noticed my busybox was outdated, I updated it, ran speed test, and it pegged to 17mbps!
Then I did a couple more runs and it was choppy and slow. It kind of seems like the app keeps freezing when it's running a test??
This is all on the note radio.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Could my problem be the SIM card itself? Mine keeps saying I need to update it.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Yes it can be
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I've had the SIM for just under a couple months, it always said I needed to upgrade the SIM card, but it just now started acting weird. It does kind of seem like I'm being throttled, but I still got 4 gb of data to use.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Went and got my SIM replaced, they said they're renovating towers here completely, including the underground work. He said they aren't really getting complaints, but that may be why. When I went there though I was easily getting 12 down in front of the store constantly. So I'm guessing maybe a location thing?

Probably an app causing it, it will be better factory reset then just installing app by app and see what's causing the battery drain.
Sent from my SGH-T999
You should actually give it 72 hours. You just flashed the ota. Its going to take time to catch up. Just like flashing a ROM. Its better to flash when you're at 100% than 50%.

This has been very common with all jb builds. Youre best bet is factory reset and do not restore data.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I notice the same thing. I did a factory reset and it didn't help. Next I tried Odin the Jelly Bean factory image. That didn't help either.

Mine was great today, listened to music for 3 hours straight while using XDA and texting. Worked in a building with no signal for T-Mobile, had WiFi calling on got off work and played bike race for 2 hours lol, phone was at 30% after 9 hours of super heavy usage, screen time at 2.3 hours, low cause of the game and listening to music.(lost 4% in 2 hours that I didn't use the phone) then plugged in to charge/flash rom. I'm expecting battery to only get better with root and things tweaked now. Will report back tomorrow after some more testing.

Ok, everything should come back shortly. It is rebuilding the stats as you go and since you wiped em, theres nothing to report there for now. Not a big deal though
I guess I should have worded that better. I did not reset any of my caches. I flashed then charged the phone.
The refresh at the top right does nothing either. Time is stuck
My unicorn died, back on the pony.
Hmm ok. Back to being strange again!
Id suggest wiping battstats then.
Are you rooted?
Easiest way is to delete /data/sysyem/battstats.bin
Then reboot and give it at least 10 mins. Hopefully thatll trigger it to run correctly.

Recharging above 90% will also reset battstats. After your next charge, turn off the phone before unplugging. Then unplug and reboot.

Need Miui v5 testers(No more needed i have enough now)

No more testers needed i have enough ppl testing it, thanks for the help. now to iron out gps, and get it to lock =/.
Im close to releasing this miui v5 port iv been working on for a few days now, iv got pretty much everything working, for the exception of some minor stuff. anyways what i whant tested the most is LTE , as i dont have any coverage in my area i need poeple to test to see if its working or not. im also aware that the touch keys backlight is not working , dont worry im looking into it, and all the other issues that remain. also a warning if you whant to test this rom, back up your efs i cant stress this enough, i already mest up mine once, so having a backup is always a must.
if your willing to test just post here or pm me, and il give you the link.
Also i dont know how the call bug works on cm10.1, but since this is based on it, so its also present here, so when you place a call phone will crash but the call will continue, so just hit ok on the phone crash report, after your done with the call. signal should be reacquired automatically.
cheers.

[Q] Note 2 battery life expectancy?

Hey
I'm new to these forums but I've read many topics discussing battery life for note 2. Now can you please tell me if these battery stats are normal for note 2 t-mobile. I'm currently on cyanogenmod 10.2 4.3 nightly. I'm also very new to android(coming from ios) so please don't mind if I don't understand android lingo. I have brightness set to manually where I would change it myself. Is this the rom causing problems or should I just go back to stock?
Thanks

That is flat out amazing, how did you do it?! I must know! What rom/kernel are you running? greenify? cpu tweaks? anything else? that is the best I think I have seen... and the theme looks good to! Please reply!
This i aamazing . I've seen battery life that lasts people couple of days but nothing with this kind of screen time.
The really surprising part is that he seems tto be on some soap rom... and I get poor battery life on those... and all that with 6hr on screen time. I'm flabbergasted

This is a team's work. @Shelnutt2 and airk000 have been contributing with me to bring this port to every one.
Instructions
Important step: Make sure you have either a lokified CWM or an UPDATED TWRP recovery before you proceed. If you continue to use TWRP from the old builds, your touch screen might become not responsive when in TWRP. I've build a TWRP 2.6.1.0 recovery that has touch screen support, so you can flash this first, reboot into recovery, and then proceed. You can get that recovery HERE. Do not flash this recovery if you do not have an E980 (AT&T LG Optimus G Pro) as it will brick your device.
Make sure you install this MODEM. Without it, you'll have a phone that never deep sleeps. ever.
Download the latest build from the section below
Download gapps for Android 4.3. I'm putting a build up in the link below
Reboot into recovery
Wipe system, data and cache.
Install CM10.2
Install gapps 4.3
Install <insert accessory>
Factory reset again for good measure
Reboot

Anyone else notice there seems to be no deep sleep with Bluetooth on?
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, its a similar big that was on cm10.1. Toggle Bluetooth a few times and reboot. That fixed it for me and my phone was able to deep sleep. Also make sure you guys are using the right modem.
