I currently have the 16 gb wifi Nexus 7 (2013). As everyone knows the new LTE model was just made available.
Should I buy a T mobile lte hotspot
Or
The lte Nexus model
PS I have a sprint note 2 and my coverage is terrible, so that's why I'm not tethering from this

I'd say the tmobile hotspot would be more useful as you can tether other devices or share the connection out to other family members. However, it is one additional device to carry around. :victory:

I would think it's annoyance but if I'm going to have my Nexus with me I'm going to have a backpack anyway and a smaller hotspot wouldn't be too bad.... Would it? Lol

You'd be surprised. I can palm the N7 with a single hand and it also fits in quite a few of my walking short front pockets (ie. sliding completely in and out of sight). So I'd say a backpack is not a must with the N7.
Definitely not but it just seems as though I always have a backpack so bringing a small additional device wouldn't add any noticeable additional weight

I would choose the LTE model myself. You should be able to use that as a hotspot to other devices when needed, and the rest of the time you wouldn't have to worry about keeping an extra device charged and watching battery. Just my opinion.

I just wanted to update my post to let you know that there are some conflicting reports on the ability to tether the US version of the LTE Nexus 7, so check that before you make a decision. See the LTE thread in the general section.

for some reason I am not as excited. When this comes out this phone will already be about a year old on verizon. Ours will just be an overclocked version. I wish it wss a 4 inch screen like the nexus s 4g at 1.5 and a great battery.

I have been using FoxFi and I love it. The latest Sprint ICS update seams to be blocking FoxFi. I know FoxFi is working on this problem but I was wondering if there is another solution without root until they fix it? I have tried the bluetooth version and the other bluetooth apps with no success. Has anyone had success with any other apps or ways? Or will I just have to wait for FoxFi to find a solution and come out with updated version?
Thanks in advance
Also I do not think pdanet is working but im not 100 percent sure.

when does your billing cycle end? and also how many gigabytes have you used so far during this billing cycle?
On my billing cycle I had like 50g used. LoL. No extra charge. I don't think this update is just on my phone because there are several people having this update. Why you think this is just for me?

I am going to take a stab and suggest Sprint is not happy with that kind of usage and finally plugged a hole.
I have been reading though forums that everyone is getting this update and its even on FoxFi website that its a Google update on ICS on not specifically a Sprint update. FoxFi is coming out with a counter update.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had luck with finding another way to have wifi hot spot without root. Until FoxFi comes out with an update.

When you say 50g do you mean 50gb on sprints network? If so I applaud you good sir. Sprints network in my area makes it hard for me to use 2 gigs.
Yes! 50gb. I just download and leave it lol. Also set up hot spot when I'm mobile.
Does no one know of a killer working app for non rooted users?

Just curious, doesn't your phone heat up a lot when using it as a WiFi hotspot? I haven't used my phone as a hotspot since my Hero, hence my username, but it used to heat up fast.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yes it does but if I am going to use it like hardcore I put it on a laptop cooler on top one of the fans.

Under normal conditions its not that bad.

Why not just root and never need a third party WiFi hotspot app again?
You can totally unroot when needed
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
What's the best way to root the nexus? Something very simple and leaves the phone pretty much stock? Isn't there a 1 click root program that let's you do anything to your nexus?

One of the guys on the MT4GS board travels to China routinely. He uses China Unicom and gets 3g/4g speeds with his mt4gs. Should work well with the tmo us GN2.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
I use Unicom with TMo Note 2 in China, and it works well.

thanks, do they offer prepaid options over there, and how are they like (in term of data allowance and stuff )

You can purchase prepaid cards there, like airports or malls.
Do you know any that offer unlimited data I mean I am going to be taking a lot of pictures and would love to have them sync automatically to my dropbox like I do over here

Just got back from China with note 2....bought a China mobile sim and it worked fine. They offer reasonably priced data plans and service is pretty stable. Don't forget to take advantage of free Wi-Fi there, you can enter the new phone number from China mobile sim to activate it at most places (ie Starbucks)
What cities will you be in?

if China is 5G then your N2 can't see that kind of signal...but it still sees 4G-LTE and below
it just like N7000...international version but work just fine here....yet never sees 4G-LTE on its bar

Don't give a crap about the watch.
Guess what? They'll write the pairing code just like all the other Sammy-exclusive hardware like AllShare etc...so that rooting your handset to not spend a year waiting for a TWiz update will break any connectivity with the rest of the Sammy device ecosystem.
As to the Note2 and s3 update. Hope springs eternal. I'll believe it when I see it.

I know what i'll say is sacrilegious around here but, i'm kinda satisfied with my Note 2. I do have my upgrades on account so I might be talking smack right now. I am getting a new iPod 2 from Dish Network. I'm assuming it's the cheapest model, 16 gb and WiFi only. They sell for 399 or so I think.
What would be my chances of finding someone who would trade me a Nexus 7 for it? Am I dreaming, is that a crazy deal? Is this ipad have value comparable enough to generate interest? Thanks for your response

It's an iPad, it'll fetch you more cash than a Nexus 7. Personally, I'd sell the iPad and go buy whatever you want.
Edit, but hey, if you really wanted to trade, my N7 is three days out the box. Is r the iPad new?

No its an iPad 2. Not an iPod. Ive seen the promotion.
If you like apple, I would sell it and grab a iPad Mini. New models should be announced soon. I heard somewhere they were announcing new iPads this month.
The N7 is what I spent my money on though. The Mini 2 will probably be on par with the new N7. I suspect a high res display and better PPI over current. Probably iPad 3 speeds.
