Estou tentando conectar meu controle via OTG no meu Xperia ZL mas não está funcionando ):
É um controle comum para computador, preciso usar algo especial?
I'm trying to connect my gamepad via OTG on my Xperia ZL but is not working ):
It's a commom PC gamepad, i need to use something special?
Mind-numbing answer: OTG is NOT supported on the Xperia ZL!
Someone please read my question on that link and tell me what the difference is between OTG and USB Host? Perhaps that'd also explain why viniciusnc's controller doesn't work.
I personally tried hooking up an USB HUB and attaching an USB mouse, a Sixaxis PS3 controller through USB and an USB stick to it. All devices worked out of the box on my XperiaZL, simultaneously!
So in your case, I'm guessing it's a driver issue.

USB OTG is the another name for USB Host. USB OTG uses the protocols and standards in the specs required by USB Host. Basically, they wanted a catchy name.

So I looked into the matter. My ZL on .244 does have USB Host support.
You can download the app to check your phone's USB Host. Chainfire, who is a dev here at XDA, made this app.

The gamepad that you are using might just be requiring special drivers that Android does not support.

People, did any of you read the thread I linked? If not, here's what causes my confusion:
Sony officially stated that Xperia phones do NOT support USB OTG, but they DO support USB Host.
So in the minds of Sony, they either have some weird things going on, or they have inside knowledge that most of us lack...

Well few days back saw my friend do it on his xperia x2 (which obviously has a tv out feature) but I was wondering if any of you guys can help me do the same on desire using either wifi or thru wire or something. ...
Its possible from a laptop. Desire ---->laptop--->>projector or television. ... point is any way to do it directly or may be thru some media station or anything. ....?
Any help Would be gr8. ..
Thanks
Desire (like most android phones) doesn't support tv out. You can try a cable from another device but you will only get audio not video
blog.clove.co.uk/
Samsung galaxy has it...and probably may be some other devices too
You may use androidscreencast: http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
But you will have a very laggy presentation.
The application is really cool but the refresh rate is really low
If you have a digital TV that understands DLNA, or a set-top-box that will do DLNA with TV-out, then you can use TwonkyServer Mobile on your Desire to stream all sorts of media from the phone to the TV: photos, music, and even video. It may depend on the TV or Box understanding the actual video format and codec being used, but apart from that it should work.
If you don't have such equipment, then I'm afraid there isn't much else you can do.
There was a German dude who managed to activate usb-host and than usb2dvi.
Don't know if that will do the trick but sounds like a nice project.
The German dude thing sounds cool any details on tht. ..

Better you go for a Mobile projector you just need to connect your mobile with projector via Bluetooth

First. Do not reply to post 7 years ago, because it makes no sense.
Second, read about the devices bitrate.
Hi,
Everything is in the title. I saw this News on androidcentral and they say
This is a brand new smartphone dock which serves not only as a charging station, but allows you to connect USB peripherals like keyboards and mice, and control your phone using good old-fashioned button-based devices.

This means we can't connect anything unless we have this dock right ? That's stupid everything is already in the phone, bluetooth, HDMI etc... Am i right ?
USB-OTG (for Memory Sticks, Keyboard, etc.) seems to be working fine with with a standard, cheap Micro USB-OTG lead from eBay. To get it working, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224676
My lead looks like this one:

By the way, does anyone know what app that is running on the Samsung pictured? The Q5 USB manager works fine, but this looks nicer!
I don't think it's a must for USB-OTG, but a software update is required, currently I tried using a simple adapter with USB flash, it recognized it as a USB device but I couldn't use it...
They said that there will be a software update in October ( 2.3.4 ) that will officially support USB-OTG...
For keyboard and mouse, you can currently use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with it, I tested the mouse with Apple Magic Wireless Mouse and it worked normally the cursor appeared and worked like a charm...
I just hope the USB-OTG includes USB Mass Storage devices like USB flash, it will be very useful

How did you do that? I can't get my bluetooth mouse connected. It says in dutch gekoppeld maar niet verbonden. What is something like paired but not connected. And i don't get a cursor. I use latest firmware rooted with doomlord kernel.

interesting. that may be an option rather than waiting for the livedock, but if the bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo costs higher then its not cost efficient.
when you connect the Arc via HDMI to a monitor, is there a way to turn of the Arc display to save battery since display is outted to a screen anyway?
Hi,
I was wondering if it will be possible to use Ubuntu for Android with the Galaxy Nexus?
I know it has Dual-Core with more than 1GHz, more than 512 MB RAM and more than 2GB storage space.
But what about
- Video acceleration: shared kernel driver with associated X driver; Open GL, ES/EGL
- HDMI: video out with secondary frame buffer device
- USB host mode
And do you think it will be possible to connect an external storage to the ubuntu system? In the end 2 GB will not be enough I guess
Thank you!
If someone "hacks" it for other phones, the GN will probably be one of the first to receive it. :-D
That's the beauty of the Nexus line.

@Valynor, what do you mean by "hacks it for other phones"? As I understand it "Ubuntu for Android" is supposed to be a free app in market that is supposed to run on as many smartphones as possible. The only problem I see with the GN is it not having an SD-Card (so it could be there is no USB-host-mode implemented for the phone) and it does not have "read" HDMI support. And I have no idea what kind of video acceleration its got.
So the question isn't weather someone can hack the app but weather it will run the Galaxy Nexus
@MS., Sorry! I am new to this forum :/ Is there a way to move the thread?

No, the "Ubuntu for Android" is not an App that you can just install. It needs to be tailored to the hardware (and software) on your device. It's more likely to come integrated with a custom ROM.
I'm confident someone will do it sooner or later, though.
Oh...turns out that was some wrong information I had there. Well thank you lots for explaining and I will be waiting for that ROM
I don't want to kill your hopes, but...
An HDMI connexion is mandatory on Ubuntu for Android.
The keyboard and mouse are used on the micro-USB USB Host and the video goes (normally) through the HDMI port.
Note: There can be an HDMI output on Gnex, thanks to MHL port, but when you use the Micro USB as MHL, there is no way to make the USB port to work..
So maybe there is a solution, meaning that USB and mouse will be connected with Bluetooth, but that's not a good thing!
Believe me, all the demos are made with a Motorola Atrix and not a GNex, there is a reason ;-)
Dig up the Q.
GN will be the first receiving ubuntu. Just by downloading it on the ubuntu website.
For the USB/HDMI issue above remember that the GNex have a dock connection with one providing HDMI out, you have your usb free for a OTG cable that allow you to use mouse and/or keyboard (haven't tested but you probably can use Keyboard and Mouse at the same time with a dongle).
BTW and IMHO I'll be more looking after Ubuntu for phone than Ubuntu for Android.

I have one of thoose F USB to M Micro USB adaptors, and I can use it with my wireless keyboard on my Xoom to control it. With my Xoom, I just plug it in and it works.
With my One X, nothing happens and no mouse appears.
Is there anything I need to do for this to work? I'm running CyanogenMod 20121223-NIGHTLY.
Thanks for any help!

Could you describe your keyboard a little bit more? Is it bluetooth keyboard, or some proprietary connection (like Logitech keyboards)?
In case if it's a BT keyboard, then you can just connect it via BT, but I'm 100% sure you're already aware of it.
It's not Bluetooth as far as I know.
There's just a small USB receiver for it which I plug into my computer, and in this case, my One X. However my One X doesn't recognise it.
It doesn't recognise a wired USB mouse either. :?

Sense JB ROM has OTG enabled can't be sure about AOSP if it is enabled there may be a problem with your OTG cable as I can use mouse and keyboard without problems.
Aosp doesnt have usb otg feature as of yet.
But Kholks kernel does support this feature on aosp roms i guess.
I use Insert Coin and with an OTG cable, my USB keyboard works fine

I need a little bit more information.
Are you connecting your S20 with USB cable or HDMI cables/adapter or how?
Are you connection the phone to a PC or monitor or what else?
I am using USB cable to connect my S10 with my PC, and Dex seems to handle full hd resolution.

I mean conection by Type-C to HDMI adapter to a TV and DEX switched off.
The resolution when mirroring is set by whatever your phone resolution is set to. Look under your smart view settings as well when connected via USB c to HDMI.
