Windows Vista not recognising my WM6 device

Bit of strange issue with my Hermes. I've just plugged it in, and now I'm getting error messages that an unknown USB device is connected to Vista. The problem is that it's been working fine for over a week now and then it goes and does this. Does anyone have any idea as to how I could try and fix this?

One thing you can try is to remove the CHECK MARK in START > Settings > Connections > USB to PC and UNCHECK Enable advanced network function.

Got the same error twice now, nothing a restart (PC) didn't fix.

or replace USB cable, or use shorten cable, or conect cable not to front USB, but in to the back connectors, bellow keyboard and mouse connectors -

Are you using latest WMDC donwloaded from MS?

Wow! You have smooth hands.
Seriously... I have had the same issue and all I had to do was restart Vista. You could also kill the wmdc.exe task and that seemed to work for me as well...

This was the winning candidate.

You get this often after a flash. I either plug the USB into another port as it tries to install the drivers again or reset the pc.

I tried that but had no joy. It was a bit strange, but at least I've got it sorted now.

Do we need the live dock to connect accessories ?

This means we can't connect anything unless we have this dock right ? That's stupid everything is already in the phone, bluetooth, HDMI etc... Am i right ?

USB-OTG (for Memory Sticks, Keyboard, etc.) seems to be working fine with with a standard, cheap Micro USB-OTG lead from eBay. To get it working, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224676

By the way, does anyone know what app that is running on the Samsung pictured? The Q5 USB manager works fine, but this looks nicer!

I don't think it's a must for USB-OTG, but a software update is required, currently I tried using a simple adapter with USB flash, it recognized it as a USB device but I couldn't use it...
They said that there will be a software update in October ( 2.3.4 ) that will officially support USB-OTG...
For keyboard and mouse, you can currently use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with it, I tested the mouse with Apple Magic Wireless Mouse and it worked normally the cursor appeared and worked like a charm...
I just hope the USB-OTG includes USB Mass Storage devices like USB flash, it will be very useful

How did you do that? I can't get my bluetooth mouse connected. It says in dutch gekoppeld maar niet verbonden. What is something like paired but not connected. And i don't get a cursor. I use latest firmware rooted with doomlord kernel.

interesting. that may be an option rather than waiting for the livedock, but if the bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo costs higher then its not cost efficient.
when you connect the Arc via HDMI to a monitor, is there a way to turn of the Arc display to save battery since display is outted to a screen anyway?

Can't connect to my SonyTV

Can't connect my Huawei Mate 20X to my Sony 65'' TV.
The phone displays the TV's name (Bravia KDL65W....) in a list of visible devices.
When I click on it, it tries to connect to the TV and after few seconds it says "couldn't connect'.
I guess the problem is not in my TV, because my older phone (Samsung S8+) has no problem to connect.

Strange, i just tried while i read this and i dont have any problems to connect my Sony tv with BT/M20X

Does your TV not support Miracast protocol?

You have to put the TV in screen mirroring mode, choose this output and then it will connect, the same happened with me.

Well - all other phones (Samsung S8+, ...) are able connect to the TV, only my Mate 20 X doesn't
It tries, TV shows "Connecting", phone shows TV's name and tries to connect - but then it fails.

I just pair my M20X with Bluetooth with my Sony tv and voila... Its working [emoji1305]

can't connect it to Elgato Hd60s+

hello everyone i hope that i find a solution here for my issue
I used to use ipad and Samsung connected to my elgato for streaming and recording videos
Now , i bought a new Red magic 5g device , it works in elgato for 3 minutes then the screen goes black and saying thet ( 1080p120 is not supported) please change your video output from your console.
I tried everything to make it work again but all failed
So can i anyone help me ?

Hacking the Philips Screeneo U4

Hi, I am not sure, whether this is the right position to post for the Screeneo U4 because it is a projector and no TV. So if it is wrong here, sorry for that and the moderators might move it to the right place. But it is running Android TV.
I recently received a Philips Screeneo U4 ultra short throw projector. This projector uses Android TV and I did some research. I thought that somebody might be interested in the results. The screenshots show german Text but the steps should be self explanatory, so I did not change the language of the machine.
The first impression is that they use their own launcher on that machine which hides “normal” Android. But not totally .

If you go to Settings and there to serial number, press OK on the remote five times. Then you find a hidden menu. Once there go to ABDDemo and you will find the standard Android developer options. On my machine they were already activated. Go to USB-Debugging, activate it and you have standard USB-Debugging access with all adb-commands working. I also activated file transfer as standard usb-setting. The projector then shows as maxtv on your computer with the standard directories in the internal storage.
If you transfer an apk-file to InstallableApps it can be installed on the machine with the app-installer in the hidden directory. You could also use adb shell commands for installing.
In that menu you also find an entry called settings which leads to another standard android settings menu. Showing for example Wifi-Settings although there is no Wifi on board.
So far the first research steps. I would be interested whether there are other owners of that projector who know more and would also be interested in suggestions to do deeper research. And might be suggestions for useful software to try.

Hello and thank you for the information, I have connected a key with two apk, IPTV and Kodi in usb but I do not see them, you are talking about ADB shell but how to connect it since there is no integrated wifi or RJ45 network cable, can you help me please?

you have to transfer the files to the Installable Apps directory (see above).
I use the connection to the projector which I have, when connecting an usb-cable to the computer.
Kodi would probably make sense for media on a connected harddisk or stick if Kodi recognizes those. I did not try this. But the installed vlc media player does quiet a good job in playing videos and music.
I do not see the point with IPTV without any Network connection. I did not manage to activate Wifi or ehternet via usb - did you?
