Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there's any way to search for particular word/phrase in browser? I want to find a certain word in a long web page but I've to scroll up and down to find that word..
So is there any app to do that or any particular key combination? In windows we can simply press ctrl+f and a find box appears..so I was thinking if it is possible..Not only in browser..in any app?
It is possible. I suppose depends of your browser. I've using Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Quick ICS Browser for a long time and in all of them is the same:
Menu > Search in page

I think that if the app doesn't have this feature you can't.
Xda app isn't a browser. So I cant figure how it can search inside.
What about use some other ways like DuckDuckGo !Bangs?

Actually thats why i created this thread b/c its not persistent. its only active per session. once you close the browser you have to do it again and again....... why can't we just disable "mobile view" permanently? so lame.
he want permanent desktop view.

Your OP didn't specify that you wanted it permanent, all you asked was if it was possible to change it.I haven't had any issues with Dolphin Browser HD freezing up at all & I have Desktop as my UA String & I use Dolphin Browser as my primary browser and use it quite heavily.
Your right about it being lame,I think it should be a option in the default settings.

I guess no one wants to take advantage of this high res screen and see web pages like they are meant to be? Who wants to view web pages in mobile view on a phone like this?

I also would love a permanent solution as its annoying to always have to change to desktop

There is a way. It requires editing the strings xml. I have tried, but apktool will not successfully compile anything I mod

Gotta throw in a bump on this one...really shocked this hasn't been one of the first mods to have been sorted out for this device.
I modded the browser source and compiled it if anyone is interested in it. Persistent ua string and a whole slew of options not normally visible. Require root and 4.0.3.

That's phenomenal...where might I try out this mod?
EDIT: nevermind, found your post in the other thread! Will check it out, cheers! (btw hopefully some more folks will take notice of your work, and ideally it would be great if your mod would get a sticky on this forum, given that it should be one of the very first mods that a GN owner would want!)
One of the reasons I rooted my phone was so I can delete my stock browser's default bookmarks. But unfortunately it won't still allow me to delete 'em. Is there a way to delete them?
TIA!

In the market there is an app named MyBookmarks. This will give you the ability to delete the pre loaded bookmarks.
You don't need any apps from the market to delete those bookmarks. Just go to applications - browser - clear data. Open your browser and go to bookmarks. Long press on bookmark and choose delete. I learned this a few months ago, very useful. Hope this helps you.

This worked! Thanks!
Awesome tip!
You've known this for months and you didn't tell ME? LOL!
Great tip, it works!!! I hated those damn things.
However I'm easily confused LOL...... so to clarify.....
Settings > Application manager > All > Internet > Clear Data
Then go to the bookmark page and long press and delete! Yay!
This is gonna clear your favorites and homepage, a small price to pay.
Has to root the phone?

Just got the SGS3 (which by the way is the GREATEST PHONE EVER MADE!!! If God or Allah or Buda or whatever higher up, power that be owned a phone... It would be this one. LOL) OK, back on track now. So I'm coming from an HTC phone and I have a TON of bookmarks stored on my browser that I want to transfer over to my new phone. My question is, where can I find my browsers bookmarks using file explorer so that I can zip it up in a file to send to my phones browser? Or is there a better, easier way to do this??
Please help

I cleared defaults for Chrome, Stock Browser, Pop-Up Browser and even tried uninstalling and re installing Chrome but to no avail. Any dea which defaults I need to clear? Thanks.
I'm wondering the exact same thing. I'm trying to get Firefox to be the default because I use LastPass...

Cool browser. Wish it supported bookmark folder import. Loosing the hierarchical folder of 300 bookmarks is a no go.

This browser is great. it even supports native flash within the browser. Super fast and excellent controls and the customization options are great. Good find!
**edit**
Wish it had a way to reflow the text shown you Zoom in. This is one thing I really like from opera browser.

You may have typed in the wrong URL, or maybe the developer has removed the file.
You can try the search bar above to find what you are looking for.
edit:
Is it the same app?

nice update thanks.
Sorry stupid question, what is the difference between Chrome Beta and Chrome?
It's like any other beta software. Newer features yet considered stable. I personally get the beta off the play store.
Another thing is I'll make sure I turn on to submit crash reports and usage stats since the whole purpose of a beta is to bug fix.
And while I'm at it type chrome://flags in it to open up the advanced settings to see if there's anything new they're tinkering with that sounds interesting to enable
Any changelog?

alternatively, you can just go to the web version of the playstore and search for Chrome Beta and push install from there.. then you will always be prompted for update if there is any..
