Every now and then the 4.2.2 update show's up and tells me to update but when i click on it it takes me to the ckockwork mod android screen or whatever you call it and says failed to update. Then i just reboot my phone and after some weeks the update will show up again. But the same thing happens over and over again. HELP PLEASE!
If it means anything my bootloader is unlocked but im not rooted.

hey i have a galaxy nexus 4.02 on verizon i used the gnexrootkit to unlock and root the phone. My phone is requesting to download the 4.04 update. Is it safe to do the update? I dont care for root much anymore. Will it just return my phone to oem stock or will it brick my phone?
Q&A forum for this bro but if you're stock rooted and do the update you will lose root. You would have to lock up the boot loader again if u want to do that

You do not have to lock your bootloader

Hey friends... Yesterday I bought my new nexus with stock 4.0.3 Rom... when I booted into fast boot there was a msg showing my current lock status was unlocked... is that means my phone bootloader is unlocked??? Even I tried installing Cwm touch from toolkit.. but when it got installed successfully.. I cudnt get it into recovery.. it was showing an error recovery symbol.. what happen??

The Android on its back with the ! symbol is the stock recovery.
By the way, there was never a stock 4.0.3 ROM for the GNex.

Hi i received yesterday the jb update notice but it didn't work,i don't know if because i moved away of the wifi zone or because my bootloader is unlocked, now I'm trying to check for updates on the about zone and nothing happens.
I'm running yakyu 4.0.4 upgraded by me from yakyuwx 4.0.2; does anyone knows why the jb upgrade didn't work? Will it come back? I don't want to flash it.
Screenshot attached.
By the way, my phone is gsm unlocked bought in Amazon and i live in PerĂº.
Thanks in advance.

Supposedly starting today you do not need to be on wifi for the update - though I do not know why you wouldn't want to be.
Try going into settings - apps - select all - scroll down and select "Google Services Framework" - then clear data.
Try and check for update again - Worked for me.
You don't have the correct radio and/or bootloader installed for yakju.
Radio is xxla2 and bootloader is prime 03.

Might that be,i upgraded to yakyu following a tutorial from webtrickz.com, haven't read anything there about radio and bootloader version, where can i read to upgrade them?, are them reeeeally necessary?
Thanks in advance

Well, I just flashed the xxla2 radio and a recovery image file, afterwards I cleared the data from Services Network and now the update is downloading, hopefully this time the JB OTA WILL work

I have a rooted stock .45 xperia s and I just received the ota update for .55 last night.
When I try to install it, though, my phone keeps saying installation failed. It says "Could not install new software version. Try again."
I cannot unlock my bootloader so the new root kit won't be too helpful for me. I heard you won't lose root if you do ota update though. But how come mine kept on failing ? Do I need to delete something before I do ota update ?

Is it because I have superuser.apk in my system/app ?

is your rom rooted/deodexed ?
I found the solution.
I first went to recovery and flashed only the system portion of my old backup (almost vanilla android + root). The OTA update works fine after that.
I think the reason it didn't work the first time was because I had Secure Settings (for Tasker) installed directly in the system/app folder in order for it to toggle GPS.

hey all
got a gsm GNEX that was stuck on bootloop.
have tried every way to unbrick it i could find flashing with odin, rootkit and fastboot and adb... have flashed android 4.0, 4.2, 4.4 and CM-11
same thing happens everytime every seperate flash the phone will reboot 5-10 times then say "updating apps" will finish that and go into a constant bootloop...
im wondering if the phone is either hardbricked or if its a hardware failure.
any help would be great
cheers
Hardware failure. Your internal memory is fried. Try to lock the bootloader. If its still unlocked on boot, you know it for sure.

Thats a good sign. Back up everything and unlock it again. Then try to flash the stock rom via fastboot. Without any toolkits!

Did you use the flash-all.bat or did you flash everything manually? The lines could be an electrical issue or its an issue with the screen..
