Searched the G2 forum and didn't find a topic like this.
I am on my second G2, and although I don't necessarily like this one better than the first it was way cheaper than the first.
I am contemplating sending this one back too because I randomly keep getting messages saying "SD Card Unexpectedly Unmounted" and the only way I can get it to "mount back" is removing the battery card and manipulating the card in some way.
It's really annoying, and if it wasn't for that one problem I wouldn't exchange the phone.
Anyone know why this could be happening?
happened to me once. All I did was click the notification and it mounted it

Hmm, I will try that next time.
Has it happened again after that?

No not at all. What sd are you using?
Happened to me a ton of times, until I got annoyed by it.
I reformatted the card and re-loaded my data back on and the prob was gone. There was a couple of corrupt files on the card.

Everytime I try to download something it gives me unsuccessful: Memory Card Does Not Exist. Have anybody ran into this problem?

Try rebooting. If that doesn't work, try cleaning the sd card contacts with a rubber eraser

Thanks for responding. I will try the rubber eraser. I tried to reboot but to no avail.

You may want to take your SD card out and put it in your computer. transfer all data to a safe place then put your SD back in the phone and format it. You can then put your data back on the card and should be good to go unless the card itself is borked which does happen occasionally. Happened to me and I lost a years worth of pictures and other data.
Its just doesn't make sense to me. I tried the eraser thing and that didnt work. I can download from the market with no problem. I dont have any problems accessing my files on my SD Card either. Its just only when I go to download a zip file from one of those file sharing sites it gives me the memory card does not exist.
Epic Life, Epic Phone... It all makes sense to me.
Actually your better formatting it on the computer too. The phone doesn't always do the best job.
I was really trying to avoid reformatting. I wonder how that happened.

It only takes an hour and you'll enjoy the difference. I do it every few months. As long as you back up right before.

1. Turn phone off and remove card
2. Put card in adapter and then in computer
3. Make a folder in desktop named sdsave
4. Right click sd card and copy
5. Paste into new folder
6. Right click sd card and choose to format. Make sure it's set to fat32
7. Format
8. Go into sdsave and highlight all folders and items and copy them back to card

I've been having the media server battery drain problem and a lot of people are saying it's because of a corrupted media file. So how exactly do I find out if I have any? Some are saying to reformat the sd card. But if I'm transferring my files to my comp and then reformatting the card that is not going to fix any files right? So how can I find out which ones are bad?
Easiest way to do it is load them up onto a computer and if they display a thumbnail and play/view without issues then they are fine.

At that rate I'd rather just delete all my music since it's all on google music and I'm usually on wifi anyway. That's 20 gigs out of like 24 used on my SD card so... that would probably be the easiest route.

For some reason Media server won't let my phone go to sleep. I tried clearing the cache sand Dalvik but that isn't helping. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue. I'm using 1.5 clean ROM based on the stock att code.

I have had this problem before. It was my sd card that was causing it. You can know for sure by removing it for a battery cycle and then see if you still have a large drain from it. I had to buy a new sd card because phone kept on saying card failed or unexpectedly removed, even formatting didn't help.

I had this happen one time after a rom flash. Media scanner would run for 20-30 minutes randomly. Here's what worked for me. .. $0 cost and will only take a few seconds, so worth a shot. Download "Rescan SD Card!" from Market. Run it...basically it is asking phone to reload the SD file-system. Don't know if this will fix your issue but again worth a try.

What did you do to make the media server kick in and start draining the battery? Streaming, gaming, etc!
I say that because when I play some games my media server will pop up with high usage! Something is making it come on.

no streaming, no gaming nothing at all
after resting the device to factory setting i just installed back everything i had before and then restarted the phone, i did not even made any phone calls
but the media server appeared and eating up my battery....
so weird ........
Media server is scanning your sd card and external sd card. Whenever you flashed a new rom or reset the phone to factory default, media server will run depending on how much stuffs you have in those SD.
Best way is format the internal SD card with twrp or cwm(of cuz backing up all the files that you will need first). Check the external SD card with chkdsk make sure everything is working properly. To test it out, take out the external SD as well. Let your phone run for a day or so. Check with better battery status and your media server will not/should not be running anymore.
Mine only run about 5% the most.
you probably have a samsung ultra 32 gb memory card that is about to be fried. LIke was posted, take the card out or put another card in. You can check the phone after a short period of time and your media process will probably be normal.
Probably time to transfer your files to your computer and attempt to reformat the sd card or trash it and get a new one

Question did you try clearing media storage by any chance? Since your facing the same issuers.. That's helped me one b4, with a similar issue. Not sure if it'll help you but worth, a try.
Another thing try turning off everything. No data, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc, nothing few hours or so if you don't need your phone! And see if it's still running. If not then it's something that's pulling in data from somewhere

Meaning are you only using the same changer that came with the phone. Because it's a 2.1 amp changer which your phone needs. But older chargers for our older phones were 1 amp chargers. That's why I'm saying we're you using just only one charger or different ones. Sometimes chargers can give you problems was my reason for that statement!
Did a lil searching and like I taught its something that's on there. Either a file you loaded or downloaded? Just not sure what it is. But check this link out to see if it helps you..

Media server on my device was eating up battery before I could make it through a day with zero use...just sitting all day. I didn't know what the issue was, so I rooted, fomatted the sd card and flashed cleanrom 4.5 and phone has been perfect since.
