i debranded from orange rom and everything was fine i got an update so i did it now its saying network locked ?
Are you sim-locked to Orange?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yup but i got the first update and everything was the same now i got a another update and it has gone like this
Try to unlock your sim card and the message should not appear again. You can buy an unlock code directly from Orange or get one online from a reputable sim-unlocking site, even on eBay. It is possible that you flashed a generic rom that included one of the radio versions which causes this network message to appear. This only happens with Orange branded phones for some reason...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I guess the update was 1.21.405.2
Orange phones that have been de-branded seem to either have their WiFi broken or go to SIM Lock. The only way out of it is to buy an unlock code. (See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693511)
The same happened to me -- although I know it would, and still wanted to de-brand. I just bought a code for £9 from: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300434867258#ht_1893wt_911 popped it in and it worked!
Yeah, it's not ideal but at least you have a de-branded and unlocked phone.
You see what you did there Faddy? You've been told on TWO previous posts SEARCH THE FORUM. In fact the answer to the two obvious questions you asked needed NO SEARCH AT ALL as the answers were recent enough they're still on the front page, but you decided beeing snarky and lazy was better.
Well you would have read peoples issues with the second update and would have avoided this. I have zero sympathy for you.
I have seen many posts by this member... makes you think, could he not have just noted all his queries in one post?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have to agree with you lot that the OP is lazy and wants spoon fed!
That said, Faddys, if you flash an older radio this should unlock your sim for you again.
I'll let you do the searching to find which one
Edit: When you flash a radio, it goes through 2 reboots. DO NOT interrupt the flash, or remove the battery if you think it's taking too long. This will brick the handset.

It might help others who are following this thread to say how you unlocked it.
Did you reflash an older radio, or did you buy an unclock code?

Either method would have fixed it, but I agree with you mate and i think it would be beneficial to others if he cared to ellaborate a little
I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice the empty dev topic. Just curious if anyone has mentioned beginning to work on this project.
I soon will be getting the device my self and I'm keeping a close eye here to see how things unfold.
waitting for this
I plan to replace my Atrix2..ha ha
I'm sure we will see more in the coming weeks.

well has anyone WITH the phone given any attempts? just following some of the other android root attempt threads can at least give devs a jumpstart as to what DOESN'T work....
Didn't the xperia s devs just get root for locked bl? It seems there is an exploit in ics that can be used for root. Does anyone have ics preinstalled on their ion (like say from malaysia or something...) so someone can start on using this method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742992
Well mot many devs have purchased it... Im also very busy and not very professional or i would start it... So i guess we have to give a month for ppl to show up

I've tried both SuperOneClick and DooMLoRD's method on two different computers with no luck :crying:
It really sucks having this phone and not being able to do anything with it

I wonder if this will work on the ion. Guess it depends on if it needs something from the ICS flash that they are doing on the Xperia S.
Is the ion even out somewhere with ICS...didn't think it had been released yet anywhere with it.

you might be right. I just remember seeing it demoed at xperiablog and thinking it was already released somewhere: http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/06/20/android-4-0-4-officially-demoed-on-the-xperia-ion-video/. I think the vulnerability is innate to android 4.0 (i might be wrong), so I think once an ion with 4.0 is released, we should be able to take advantage of it.
I guess the wait continues. bummer...

I got bored and decided to chat with Sony support to maybe get an update on unlocking the bootloader their way or an update and they said in some countries there's already been an ICS update for it, nothing came up in for anything I searched other than people asking about an update.
I'm fine with 3.7, can only imagine speed, etc of a tweaked version. Other than the bloat I must say Im pretty pleased fellas. Looking forward to getting into it but in the interim theres nothing really bugging me(no pun intended), shouldn't be too bad of a wait.
Another fine machine from Sony far as I'm concerned. earbrain

Nobody has any news? Really getting to me now not having this thing rooted -.-
Install the International fw. It isn't the same thing as having it rooted but at least you get rid of all the bloat and you can use the stock tether.
Sent from my LT28i using xda app-developers app
I haven't really got a use for tethering, two years with a rooted HTC Aria I think I used it twice. The bloatware I can't uninstall doesn't really matter to me either, I don't even notice it since you can customize your app drawer with ADW. I really want root to overclock tbh.

I'm working on it. Trying to see what methods from the Xperia S we can bring over to the ion. Would be easier if I had an ion with an unlockable bootloader (DAMN YOU AT&T). I have my friend at Sony checking with the devs there to see if maybe there might be a way or at least a hint they could give us. It will happen, just gotta be patient.

Agreed highly. None of my phones in the past have been this difficult to unlock and/or root so I'm now trying my best to be patient haha. I had a rooted s-off HTC Aria for two years and root access made that phone 100x better so I'm just imagining how much more amazing the Ion will be, ridiculous step up from the Aria.
Spectre51 is correct... It will happen...its just a matter of time is all.
Complete shot in the dark question here... And forgive my ignorance to this phone, as I won't physically have it in hand until tonight... But...
I wonder if someone from the PSP "Modification" scene could help with this?? I understand the differences in the two devices, so please don't flame me...I'm not retarded. LOL.. But what I am getting at is this... Everyone has patterns to their software/firmware... its just a matter of identifying it... Maybe because this phone is Playstation certified...there may be a hidden link somewhere?
I know...this sounds crazy, preposterous, ridiculous, etc... But what if?? IDK...just throwing ideas... I'm gonna try this unsecure kernel thing tonight and see how far I get with it. I'll keep you all posted

Remember the Unsecured kernel is only good for LT28i and not the LT28at, due to being unable to unlock the bootloader for the "at" version.
I have a chance to buy a used Xperia S, So If you guys know anything I can do to test the phone, I want to make sure that everything is functional, considering the low price I'll be getting, I'm a bit suspicious, So Please tell me how to test the device?
Just check if the bootloader is unlockable, there isn't much else to test

Isn't there any way to check the phone functionality like camera, Speaker, touch sensitivity, connectivity and such Of course I'll check if the boatloader is unlockable
But i wanted to test the phone, If there isn't such utility should i just use it heavily to check every thing
I have like 3 days to check it, So I can return it in 3 days if there is something wrong with it.

Yes there is a way to test functions of phone.
From the dialer screen dial *#*#service#*#*
Then use service test. All phone functions should have self tests here
From Jaramie's LT28at

or if youre wondering dial *#*#7378423#*#*, its the same as above post.
Hello. I recently bought my first xperia, the xperia S.
Noticed after I bought it from an auktion site that I can't unlock the bootloader. I asked the carrier if they could unlock it and sony as well. No solution
Are there any development going on to solve this problem? I've heard that the Sony signature server is offline so i guess paid services are out of the question.
I also think that this problem deserves more attention. I'm sure there are alot of people like me out there suffering while their fingers are burning to be able to install new kernels and obviously cyanogenmod...

Lots of people with the same locked bootloader all looking for a way to unlock it, lots of people have worked on it too, all to no avail.. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137561 or wait a few days for XSX2 to come out..:fingers-crossed: you will probably be happy enough. kernels will still be out of the question though.
That was what I was afraid of... Thanks for the information

So, 1 year and a half since the phone was released and, as far as i know, there's no way to unlock the bootloader when it says "NO". Blame Sony, i'm selling my phone, i can't do anything with my phone, i'm limited to the sony roms with lots of bugs.
I'm i wrong or there´s a way to unlock the bootloader (no - yes)
Who think the same way about sony?

i have an lt26i/xperia S.
The reason why i'm complaining it's because in any other phone bought locked to a carrier, is quite easy to unlock it, and with the xperia S there's no way! and the phone is getting old (beggining of 2012)

there are also other phones which cannot be unlocked. for example the newer build version of the atrix/photon.
if you are not satisfied with the phone, sell it and get a new phone without a contract deal. sounds hard...or you wait until Sony has fixed most of the bugs one day.

Yeah they found an exploit with the test point that was on the phone and when you perform the unlock with Alejandrissimo he has you ground the test point and they were able to rewrite the bootloader=no. Unfortunately the test points don't exist anymore (at least as we know them) and they also locked down the Sony S1 server that was also used to perform sim unlocks and bootloader=no changes. As far as I know no one has been able to get back in the the S1 server for like a year now
If someone can find an exploit for the S1 server again and get back in there we can probably change bootloader=no for every Xperia. Ion, Go, T, TL, Z, ZL, and any other new carrier lock phone...
