Problems renaming files & folders from Windows - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. I plug my phone to my Windows 8 running computer, and whenever I try to rename a folder or a file, explorer seems to be stop working, then I plug off my phone eventually and explorer.exe restarts. I'm sick of this problem, isn't there anything we can do about this?

Might be a driver issue(?) Try installing kies :/

Oh, sorry to mention that. I already installed kies, and I'm sure that this is not a driver issue. In addition, I'm using Android Revolution HD 19 with Perseus. Switching kernels doesn't affect.

I have this problem too. If you want to rename from pc just enter the memory card on its own otherwise rename folder/file from phone.

Help! Can't copy folders to PC/Mac

Been trying to figure this out but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here.
I ran a Titanium Backup and have the folder in the internal storage on my phone with all the zips inside. When I connected it to my Macbook Air and ran the Android file transfer app I could not get them to copy at all.
So I hooked up the phone under Windows 7 and tried to copy the Titanium Backup folder but all I can get it to do is copy a blank folder to Windows.
Anyone have any clues as to why it is copying blank folders? I can get it to copy pictures or other files just fine but for some reason Titanium won't copy
Thanks in advance!
Same issue here. Yesterday, files from TitaniumBackup directory copied fine to Windows 7 Pro 64bit, but today I can't copy most of the updated files (only the 1 app that I had uninstalled could be copied over).
Galaxy Nexus LTE 4.0.2
I had the same issue it appears that If you write anything in ur phones memory while hooked to the computer it it wont sync just unplug your phone reboot it and wait a few mins try not to use any thing that would make changes to your internal sd while connected

Can't see files

I can access my Clockwork Mod files via my Gnex, but they are not accessible when trying to copy to my PC. I see the device, I can see the CWM folder, but no backup folder exists. I can see everything else on the device. Tried coping the files to the root with no success. I have been able to access this files in the past.
Ideas?
I haven't had a problem specifically with CWM files, but changing the folder options on my PC (inside the Galaxy Nexus folders) to "show hidden files" usually did the trick...

Small chance, but look in your "clockworkmod" folder and its subfolders and see if there are a file called ".nomedia" which would cause the folder contents to be hidden when connected to the PC in MTP mode.
You can also use the app AirDroid to transfer files through WiFi.

I'm pretty sure that's a solution to the opposite problem. Hence, the files are showing up on the computer and phone file manager, but not in the apps. The .nomedia file tells the apps not to scan the specific folder they're sitting in. For example, yesterday my friends Galaxy Mini wasn't showing any pics in the gallery app or music in the music app, even though they clearly existed on the phone (via file manager and when hooked up to the PC). Deleted the .nomedia file and <insert sound effect here (I.E."BAM!"> all was good.

Thanks for the assistance, but no luck. Using Airdroid at the moment, but is is slower than slow.
Any other ideas are appreciated.

Try Local Sync, it easy and fast.
Thanks
Thanks. Local Sync doesn't seem to be much quicker. Can't find the option to sync one folder only, so it is syncing my entire CWM folder.
Question still stands why the heck I can't see those files via my PC.

Have tried reboots o both PC and phone. Also tried a different PC. Very strange that i can see everything else.
I could try to restore from a previous CWM backup and see if I am able to copy.
Any luck using adb?
ADB

ADB command line is a bit out of my scope. Maybe I'll take a shot at it later. Installed a previous CWM BU, but no success.

Mac OS: Android file transfer not working

I'm having an issue with the file transfer. I can see both internal memory and SD, but when i tried to drag and drop from Finder it is giving me an error, saying my screen is locked (even when it isn't) and asking me to reconnect. anyone else have this problem?
This was extremely annoying because I would try to transfer say an album and then it would get like 2 songs on there but not the rest saying my screen is locked please disconnect etc....i tried that but did not work.
please help as the only machines i have our macs.
thanks,
I don't understand. i am dragging the files from finder to the android app into a specific folder...

I get the same error. Try double-clicking the folder you want to drag your files into (in Android File Manager) and drag your files from Finder into that rather than trying to drag files into a folder with the root directory showing.

How do you guys even get it to see your phone?
On my computer, it just sits there and freezes if I have the phone plugged in when I start the app. if it isnt plugged in, it tells me to plug the phone in and freezes. When i switched the phone to PTP, it doesnt detect it, though it does pop up in iphoto. Any suggestions? I have been shuttling files with a micro-sd card lol!

Best way is to use Kies Air with the mac... transfer them wirelessly.

Android File Transfer has not been operational between Android and MAC os --at all-- since the Jelly Bean release.
Google knows it...Please add your two cents:

Downloaded files won't open on PC

Hello,
I was trying few things:
1. Download sound card drivers to my Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, then copy them to USB memory stick. When i tried to install them on PC I got a message that *.exe file is corrupted.
2. I had a Google document (docx) and I did convert it to a pdf file with android app. I was able to open it normally on android device but unable to do iton PC. Same issue, file corrupted.
My memory stick is FAT32, never had any problems with it.
What tha hell is going on? Pictures and other media files works great while transfering, these I mentioned about not.
Please help!

I think I may know what happend, but didn't try yet. Probably I did remove memo stick without taping "safely remove..." and data wasn't copied right. I don't know about pdf files if they were converted good but drivers works fine now.

create/rename new folder causes explorer hang

Im using windows 8.1 , when i try to create or rename a folder on my Note 4's internal storage, the computer hangs and the screen refreshes with all my icons gone. i have to right click the desktop and sort by name/type/etc to bring it back on screen. any idea whats happening here? a fix? is it software or is it hardware or what?? do i need to return this phone?
file transfer is fine. only when i create a folder or rename it.. it hangs
edit: ok, i just tried to create a new folder now and it works fine, but it will hang when i rename it. I'm guessing it must be something with Windows 8.1 or some driver issue because I tried everything on a Macbook Pro and it works fine.......
thanks
I'm having this problem as well, win 8.1, Verizon gn4. Can create folders (sometimes) but never rename them. Very irritating... One more thing to hate about windows 8.1 :/
