Does anyone have the problem where they don't see any e-mail icons for notifications in their statusbar? I seem to have that problem.
I have auto-sync on, and it seems to constantly sync new e-mail as I check, so the letters are there, but I never get notified about it. Checked Gmail app for notifiaction settings, it's all turned on. Checked Gmail's settings from the app manager, in there notifications are also enabled.
Am I missing something here? Is it a settings or an actual rom issue? I'm running stock btw.

Not sure if this was some kind of bug, but I went into Applications manager -> Gmail -> Disabled the notifications option, then I enabled it again, and from then they finally began appearing.
Well problem is solved so far, hope this "fix" will help, just thought I'd let you know how I got around the problem.

So I have about 4 apps "disabled" through ICS, and it's worked fine except for one of them. Google+ seems to re-enable itself, randomly, and I don't know why (or even how!). It doesn't seem to happen when I reboot, or overnight, or anything specific...it just seems to randomly pop back up in the tray and display as Enabled in the app settings.
Anyone else having this problem? Or find a way to combat it? I have no use for Google+ and I don't like that it *can* eat up battery (doesn't usually, but it can).
This has been answered atleast four other times, but since your search is broken let me answer it again. You can not keep it disabled, just delete it using a file explorer and root.

Apparently my search *is* broken.
Oh wait, no, *all* search is broken when using the "+" symbol because it's seen as a boolean string and not an alphanumeric character. Searching for "Google+" or even "Google won't disable" comes up with nothing helpful at all.
Thank you for answering my question, but no thanks for being a rude ass in the process. Maybe *you* should try using the search function next time to see how it works before posting an inconsiderate and incorrect comment, no?
I am able to keep my Google+ disabled without having it re-enable itself (even after restarting my phone). Did you make sure to disable everything else that may be tied to Google+ (such as syncing photos)?

Ya, I've always had photo syncing off. That should be the only thing that's tied to it, right? Just turn off syncing then disable the app?
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it re-enabling itself...just seems that after some arbitrary amount of time it's suddenly back enabled. Seems to be a few days.
It keeps showing an update is available for Google+ even though it is disabled. Anyway to prevent that?

Never mind, it was enabled again, so yeah I need to delete it also. How do you go about deleting it with a file manager program? Which folder, etc?

Install the update. Disable G+ again, if necessary.

Well in order to Disable a baked-in app you have to uninstall updates, first. So you'd be updating, removing updates, then disabling. Would have the same effect as just disabling.
Hello guys, my gmail notification doesn’t work anymore: the email is received correctly so the sync works, and if I use another notifier (like Go Notification app) it works, but not the gmail notification. It stops working I presume after installed the K9mail app, for fix the annoying issue for long mail cut by gmail ( I wasn’t able to see my Expedia reservation LoL), but now seems that Google finally fix that bug.
I tried several times to clear/stop/sync unsync, but nothing! I uninstalled K9mail, downgrade gmail…nothing: the gmail notification in the panel doesn’t want to show up, all others notification are ok, even the standard samsung mail app.
Of course the gmail settings are ok: sync, notification panel and so on.
I’m pretty sure there is somewhere a conflict, but really no idea where.
Any advice?
I’ve a At&T stock rom JB 4.1.1 Rooted.
Thanks

If you are using the latest Gmail inbox with categories, then notification is enabled by default on the primary folder only. To enable for other folders, open the folder eg updates, click on menu>label settings. Check label notification and notify for every mail.

Doesn't work. I searched around internet and seems there was a bug with K9mail notification and Gmail. They fixed but apparently not completely. Before i installed K9mail everything was ok, now there is something messed up, and my gmail notifications are gone.
Am running CM 10.1.2 on my Galaxy Nexus. I have tried many combinations of settings, but no matter what I do, I seem to always get a "vibrate" notification, if I want Gmail to display in the notification area. Same issue with calendar.
In Gmail settings for my account, I have notifications set to on.
It appears that unless I set Inbox sound & vibrate so that "label notifications" are "on," then Gmail won't display in the notification area.
Love CM 10.1.2 but this is very annoying.

This was already deselected... This appears to be a common problem per this thread: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39592
I just tried LightFlow which seems to be a reasonable workaround.
any update on this? My SMS and Corporate email both vibrate no matter what settings I choose....
Running cmDroid AOSP ROM, but it won't let me post there because I'm new. (advanced user, Android SDK user) but can't find this one???

I think I finally solved the problem, at least on CM 10.2. Not sure if your ROM supports profiles, but see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43133193&postcount=2
It's kind of buried, so see the attached which will show you my settings...

Thanks Kendoori !
I did find profiles, but these settings make it even clearer, great post, thanks again!

This has been bugging me for months. I'd actually resorted to using "Quiet Hours" in the Sound settings and making it from 12:00 am - 11:59 pm, which make vibrate never work with anything. I can't believe that anyone would want to constantly get vibrating notifications for email... It's also amazing that this is so buried and NOT obvious...
Hey all. I'm trying to figure out why I'm not getting my Facebook Notifications. I have everything turned on for them in the app and in phone settings. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Any suggestions on a fix? Anyone else getting this? Thanks.
Go into Settings -> Sound and Notification -> "Apps" in notification sub section and see if facebook is in there if its not thats the reason, if its not there go into facebook and open the menu (hold the Square) -> Settings -> Notifications and check if they are all on, hopefully that should sort it
My settings are all correct, but I don't get any notifications either.. Although, this was the same issue as my G2.

No dice. Everything seems correct in the settings. Any other ideas?
While we're on topic, does anyone have issues loading FB while on WIFI? It's like it never refreshes..

Not that I can tell.
Not got any other idea's sorry, Maybe contact Facebook (if they have a support line??)
Nope not got any issues with it loading on Wi-Fi
TTT.
I had that issue, but rolling back updates, disabling, enabling, then updating seems to have fixed it.

It's fine even if Facebook updates on its own?
I'm not sure what you mean. Follow my steps, and see if it helps.
It is the phones fault. Both s6 and g4 have same issue. Push notifications rarely work due to aggressive sleep policies to save battery. Sucks.

What kind of notifications are we talking here?
Because I notice fb has a 1, or a 2 for a notification. But I don't actually get it on my phone, and the notification is really just some random person liking the top post on a group page. That isn't really considered a real notification so I'm glad for that, but it does still count as one or whatever according to the monkey developers at facebook. (Seriously that number beside the app activates my hidden OCD)
I'm able to get the real notifications (ie. comments). So I think it depends on what you're referring too here.
Right, I'm not getting "real notifications" when there are comments.
On One UI 3.0, I got my notification pop-up style on Detailed.
When I receive a message on whatsapp or some other messaging app, while the phone is unlocked, as you would expect the notification scrolls down from above and I can see the message.
When I receive a message in Facebook messenger, while the phone is unlocked, it never works. I just get the messenger icon in the status bar but no pop-up. Even before the update pop-up for messenger never worked.
Has anyone any idea how to fix this?
On the other hand while using AoD during the day and the phone is locked, I can see the messages as notifications on the lock screen.
I haven't tried the brief pop up option yet but I suspect, still no pop up notification will show up. Not sure what's up.
Hi dude, the same for me !!!

I found the solution so do this:
Settings>Apps>Messenger>Notifications>Tap on Chat and Calls> Enable "Show as pop-up".
That fixed it for me, repeat the same for the previous items on the notifications settings list.
let me know if it got fixed.
Fix for me to, I've also reset my phone (only settings).
Now I've ugly little bublle from messenger.
Go to Notifications settings for Messenger again and disable "show us bubbles" for All

It's easy to fix in the app settings, so don't get upset before you know it. Turn them off and on again, then they will work correctly. I think you might be having this problem because your page is being monitored by someone who has plans for your page for their own purposes. In order for you to be sure your page is safe, you can check https://myhow.org/how-to/track-who-views-your-facebook-profile to see who is causing possible problems in your account and in your app. It helped me a lot to avoid scammers
