Did they make the VZW HTC One to work on more than just Verizon bands?

The Verizon HTC One is carrier unlocked so yes, it can work on other carriers. What type of service you get depends, I believe, on the frequency that carrier operates.

Use Verizon galaxy nexus to GSM in India

Hey, I'm getting a Verizon Galaxy Nexus from U.S. and i just came to know that Verizon is a CDMA carrier not a GSM one..
is there any way to get the phone unlocked/flashed/rooted or anything to get it working got GSM carriers here in India ?
or should i cancel my purchase ?
please help me.
Thanks
No.

Cancel your purchase as there is no way to make the CDMA Verizon able to work on a GSM network. It does have a sim slot but only for the Verizon LTE sim card. Only the newer Verizon phones (Note 2, Iphone 5, etc) have a sim slot that is already unlocked and would be able to be used on GSM carriers. Good luck and hopefully you can cancel your purchase in time.

Any ATT phone will work as long as you can get it unlocked or its already sim unlocked. The One X uses a microsim and you can just pop in your international sim once it is unlocked and be good to go.

can GSM phone sim unlock be use with verizon or sprint?

can GSM phone sim unlock be use with verizon or sprint? I stick my htc one m8 with a verizon sim, and it doesnt detect anything, I'm not sure if I did something wrong or the band just doesnt work all together.

Use Verizon SIM on ATT/Developer Ed HTC One M8

I have an HTC One M8 AT&T edition that I converted to Developer Edition. Can I take my verizon SIM and get any kind of service at all on it? I have heard that Verizon has to whitelist IMEI numbers but wanted to confirm there is nothing that can be done for it to even get basic voice/texting capabilities.

Verizon is still using CDMA for voice, so I believe you will not be able to get voice service. Not sure if data would work, and I'd be curious to hear whether it does or not. I'm not exactly sure how Verizon and Sprint SIMs work, since they are not a true GSM SIM.
That isn't really an answer, I realize. Really, more just a couple random thoughts on the matter.

I put my Verizon SIM in the HTC M8 Developer Edition (formerly AT&T), the phone is s-off, RUU to latest ROM, and rooted. NO voice service, NO data service.

wont work because verizon uses different radio frequencies. you cannot take ANY GSM phone and use it verizons network because its doesnt have verizons radio bands to work on their network....

Its more complicated than that:
- Yes, since Verizon uses CDMA for voice and EDGE data, you won't get those on a "GSM" M8 since it lacks the CDMA hardware.
- However, Verizon uses LTE for "4G" data in many areas, and in fact the same frequency bands as AT&T in some regions. They share 2 LTE bands (2 and 4) while Verizon also uses Band 13; and AT&T uses 17 (and I think 5) and those are not common between the 2 carriers.
It was an interesting exercise for the OP to try his Verizon SIM in the AT&T phone. I'm guessing there is a difference between a CDMA SIM and a GSM SIM or some other network restrictions that would prevent the AT&T variant M8 for getting any data service.

The M8 is SIM unlocked? The AT&T variant is SIM locked by default.

Yes, M8 is SIM unlocked. It recognized the sim but no radio signal or data.

Thanks for the clarification. Then its as I somewhat suspected, and there is either some difference in the CDMA SIM or Verizon's network that is preventing the device from getting service.
Thanks posting the result of your "experiment".

False, you can use the Verizon G4 on other GSM carriers. I popped in my T-Mobile SIM in, entered in the APN, and I had working data. The only downside is you get a SIM notification since it's not a Verizon SIM.

I had thought he meant bootloader. My bad
The Verizon G2 has unlocked GSM. Good to know the G4 does too.
Once we get root, you can remove the SIM notification.

I thought the Verizon G4 had band 2, but I can't pick up band 2 LTE on T-Mobile on 2G > LTE converted sites.

You can remove the "not a verizon sim" message by going into applications and disabling/stopping the "Activation Agent". The only thing is that you have to do it every time the phone restarts.
