Camera on S4 mini? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this the same camera as on Galaxy S3?
If so, how is the shutter speed? Does it take a shot instantly when the button is pressed, or takes some time?
Also, one of the reasons why I didn't go for S3 was that photo quality on non-samsung roms is worse. I intend to use CM only.
Does S4 mini suffer from the same issue?

[Q] Htc Desire 820 vs Samsung Galaxy S4

Hello! I have mega trouble, because I want to buy new phone. My current phone is Sony Xperia SP. Since the new phone I demand smooth operation, good quality camera and good speaker. I hesitate because I do not know which phone plays louder and who has a better camera. I read that HTC has a problem with noise during recording and it made me very worried. Nor do I know that your phone better talking. I always wanted to have a HTC, but now in the current situation, I was a little offended. My situation is that I have no choice other phones.
Thanks and I greet they all

i had s4 and bought htc now. Let me put it in short story:
s4:
- **** laggy software
- great camera
- bad sound system
- nice colorful screen, but small
- good that buttons are not on screen
- removable battery
this htc:
- great super fast software
- colorful screen, little difference to s4, s4 has more aturated colors
- big screen
- bad that buttons are on screen
- super great speakers
- no removable battery
- nice power saving options
- super fast procesor-64 bit, which is the ffuture of processors and will be even faste in android 5.0
This is it for now. If you dont mind big phone and you want great performance, then definitly but htc. If you want crappy housing smaller phone, with better screen and camera, than buy s4. But s4 is realy outdated. Ask more if you want
Thanks! You say that the HTC plays better than samsung, you can estimate how much?
The battery keeps better in HTC?
How does the quality of calls on both phones?
Do u you there is noise on recordings from a microphone?
Thanks! You say that the HTC plays better than samsung, you can estimate how much? Yes, htc has 2 front speakers, s4 has one small on the back
The battery keeps better in HTC? Yes, you even have power saving mode, and i dont see any difference in performance with power saving on or off, just more battery
How does the quality of calls on both phones? hmm, dont know realy, i dont talk much. Didnt notice any diff
Do u you there is noise on recordings from a microphone? not realy, tried to record myself and not problems
It reminded me of another question. If you are using throttling phenomenon occurs?

HTC 10 Manual Video MOD?

Hi i loved LG G4 and that it had LG V10 camera ported to it.
Now i understand that different brand and all but is there a way to port LG V10 camera to HTC phone?
Im mainly looking at manual exposure in video mode because even after all these years HTC video recording is terrible because of framerate.
Whenever i record video in lowish light i get like 20 fps video looks terrible and laggy even tho sensor on this phone is big and can do stable 30fps in low light with a little higher iso because i also have LG V10 with smaller sensor and higher resolution which means much smaller pixel and in manual mode in same scene i put video exposure time at 1/30th or even 1/60th with iso at 600 and i get little noise while being buttery smooth.
Now this has been issue with HTC from OG days and is there a mod or port that i dont know about that can let me control exposure in video mode and i dont mind separate app for that since im using gcam for photos and get some of the best pictures ive ever seen on smartphone, even compared to latest smartphones its in top 3 definitely.
Now back to video, ive seen snapdragon camera and other, none of them does anything to video framerate.
Is there a way to set lowest exposure to 1/30th so that phone does not drop framerate do raise exposure and lower iso.
I personally dont mind grainy video in lower light but man recording campfire i dont need nightvision but for some reason phone tries so hard that it blows highlights and gets laggy as hell.
Some config mods, api mods, apk mods anything to adress this issue,i would be alfa tester for some mods if anyone has time to tinker with it,im more of hardware guy, repairing phones and modding cooling, thermal paste and pads mod, etc.
Software? Not my kind of skill.
So if someone else has some advice or existing mod i havent seen yet let me know i would gladly try it.
Sorry for typos or mistakes typing this on a phone without auto correction
Cheers and thanks in advance

Highly doubt anyone is willing to put in the work to port an LG camera app at this stage of the 10 (2015 flagship) but I cannot speak for others.
I also don't really use my camera outside normal shots so I don't have good experience with vid framerate, etc.
I will suggest that you try out the Google camera ports if you haven't already.
I have tried gcam for video but its terrible compared to stock,in gcam video recording i get stuttering an what not.
I know old phone custom development is over.
Also how it that there is no some universal camera that can use those core features available on other phones.
Unless LG uses some sort of asic for camera but i doubt it since LG V10 camera can be ported on other LG phones like G4.

Sorry wish could help more.
Gcam is the best ull see for non-sense ROMs.
There's many ports and settings you've played with that? Like changing from nexus to pixel.

I have tried other mods and setting but in any case when i pan camera its stuttery on gcam and didnt try gcam in low light tho.
Only thing i need basically is ti limit minimum fps to 30 because it drops to 20 or so in low light and panning from lets say bright window to darker room suddenly video looks blurry and smeared because of shutter speed.
Im on custom rom Leedroid using Elementalx kernel not overcloked or underclocked.
Any ideas what to try,its not professional camera i know and i dont shoot movies with infact i dont shoot maybe 2 times a week short video and i eork ina gaming club where light is dimm and sometimes some promo video needs to be recorded for social media and it looks terrible and overexposed even tho ist dark cause camera is launching shutter speed into the sky to make up for low light.
I used professional camera in full manual mode to record conferences and things like that and shutter speed half of frame time like 30 fps max exposure 1/30th but you put it to 1/60th to make video look smooth as,and only change ISO and aperture to change how bright shot is.
In any case any kernel api config profilesxml file to change that because i have LG V10 and with that things manual camera i can do wonders for video cause at the end of the day best camera is the one that you have with you all the time, amarite?
Thanks for the answer tho u will try some other ports and test just in case i missed something.
I only used apk ports,do i need flashable zip for better and more stable ports?
Any android camera experts out there feel free to add some smart teach heavy solutions.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Looking now at gcam video it is less smeary but when recording starts it hicups every second or so.
Any setting to change in dev settings of camera?
And sorry for typos in ally posts i type on the go without autocorrect, what can i say i live my life dangerously

Hope this helps.

Shutter lag Exynos ?

Hi guys,
Anyone affected by a shutter lag on his Note10+ ? i'm using the Exynos version and the shutter is absolutely terrible. My S7 edge takes MUCH faster picture (both in low or high light) ! Same with a S9. I'm very disappointed by the camera tbh..
Anyone in the same situation ?
Thanks.
Well, no, in normal light conditions, it is instantaneous, in low light it obviously takes as much time as required by exposure metering
Obviously day light picture will take less time to be taken than night picture it's not my concern. But than why is a 3 year old and 1 year old phone takes faster picture in similar condition?
And If I press twice the shutter button it will only take 1 cause it's too slow to take the other one.
I do not have this problem either.
Do not save to SD card, use internal storage. I'd guess that is the issue.
Internal is much faster and reliable.
I use internal mem to save pictures, which is faster than any sd card, but, even in not so bright conditions, the camera is blazing fast, only in real low light is when takes longer, but again, in really low light enviroments
I'm not using the SD card I don't even have one actually.
I'll update a link you guys can watch it
I took the video this morning 10am.
You can see 2 things the small lag (much bigger in a less light environment) when I push the shutter and 2 if you push twice it will only take 1 picture.

Did you have a look at shutter speed?
In low light it sometimes fall down to like 1/10th shutter speed (to decrease ISO). Maybe in this case you clicked too fast before the 1st shot ends.
I do not feel like it really happens to me.
Did you try to just stay pushed down ? It will take a serie of photos (enable it in settings). No point clicking twice in a row then.

I've checked the shutter speed (not the same condition as this morning), I've tested at 1/20 and 1/45 still slow. I've noticed something tho, by visiting the pro mode to see the shutter speed iI've put everything in auto (ISO, focus, aperture, shutter speed) and It takes way faster picture than the photo mode.
And yes if I push and hold the button it will activate the burst mode and take plenty of picture.

I'm having the same problem with my Note 9; I thought I'm just being paranoid, but when I compared it to my S7 - the shutter speed is way better than the Note 9.
The same goes when I took photo in pro mode - the shutter speed became faster and better.
Winol is correct, for speed use internal memory.

Some of the reasons you buy a dedicated pro cam is fast boot, fast AF lockon, and nearly instant shutter release. Shutter release time is speced out with cams... in smartphones? Bah-ha-ha-ha
Smartphones don't have near the hardware, firmware, the display, the design, the raw processing power a pro cam has that's devoted to shooting alone.
The shutter lag is quit noticeable to me on all the smartphones I've owned including the 10+.
This is normal... it will cost you keepers but the control layout and design will cost you far more lost keepers.
No doubt in my mind about this.
Only a pro cam gives you all the tools you need to grab the most keepers; that's their sole purpose in life. Canon pro gear excels at it and are a rush to shoot with.
Street shooting with the 10+ (or any smartphone) is a slow motion horror story of lost keepers in comparison. Simple put... there's no contest.
i think the problem is with scene optimizer, once its off you get to take faster pics.
