on stock desire, 720p playback on moboplayer or rockplayer, the same 720p videos were runnning smooth (only some rare very brief freeze at times) but on cyanogen using moboplayer, 720p; the video runs very very slowly and sound is totally out of sync.. what settings do i need to change to get playback as smooth as on stock rom??
edit: thought cm7 was supposed to be better than stock rom in terms of performance...
no one has this same problem?
i've had similar problem. let me say first that video recording worked great on unrooted device, then on rooted with stock rom, then on InsertCoin 2.0.1. rom, then back on stock rom (i went back with clockworkmod recovery), then again on Insercoin for a week or so...(don't ask, i did some experimenting )...
but then all of a sudden, after a full week on Insertcoin ROM, without me installing something new or fiddling around, out of the blue, video recording went loco. everything looked ok while recording but when playing video would pause every few seconds, then quickly catch on, then pause again, and so on...as if sd card couldn't catch up writing the video. but that couldn't be the case because everything worked fine before. i forgot to mention, both 720p and 800x480 recording didn't work...
i didn't try removing setcpu app and defragmenting sd card. instead i went back to unrooted stock rom and now everything works fine again. now i'm little tired to root and flash any custom rom over again. if anyone has the idea what went wrong please share...thx!

i will try defragmenting sd card. If it does not work, will switch back to stock rom. Got some other issues with cyanogenmod 7 also.... it is not as great as everyone keeps to say...
today recorded video started pausing again. i forgot to mention it earlier, but i bought new 8GB class 4 SD card and it didn't help. i don't think defragmenting will work (at least for me). it seems that this prob might be hardware related...
I had this problem on relextense hd, just figured it was the norm for the phone

i read a few threads on this issue and it seems to me that it's because of gingerbread which does not have the necessary codecs... let's just wait for official gingerbread and see if it works again...
i have tried cyanogen 7 (android 2.3) and miui (android 2.3).. in both roms 720p lags
thx for suggestions, guys. but i'm on stock froyo rom. i'll try removing some apps and see if it's related. after i flashed back stock rom it all worked fine, but now it pauses again. i removed poweramp and rockplayer but no luck. i really don't want to remove all downloaded apps all over again....any other suggestion?
720p works fine for me. Maybe hardware issue?
i have some update on the stuff. today i uninstalled all apps i've downloaded since buying the phone, including the updates to it's native gmail and facebook apps. after that, i restarted the phone and voila, video recording worked again, smooth and steady.
so i went to install all apps again, one by one, and after each one i tried video recording again. the result was that after some apps video was recorded with pauses, and after some it wasn't. so i uninstalled those apps again and tried video recording, but it didn't help. then i went to install them back again but not in the same order as the first time. again video was fine after installing some apps and not fine after the others. but, it didn't pause after installing some apps for the second time, the same apps which i have installed the first time when video was recorded with pauses. so it seems it's not app related after all.
but, after so much installing and uninstalling it became clear that video recording worked flawlessly after each phone reboot. at some point after rebooting the phone video begun to record with pauses again. after some more testing i can confirm that this occurs after installing new (any) apps. as long as i don't install anything, video will record normally. i cannot possibly imagine what can cause such behavior, but for now it seems to be the pattern. i hope it'll help some of you with the same problem. but nevertheless this shouldn't happen at all. i have sent a ticket to HTC support, maybe they'll come up with a more permanent solution.

720p video playback is smooth on your cm7? i have tried cm7 and miui (gingerbread) and 720p video is slow and out of sync with the audio
seems it's related with your sd card.. what class are you using? i think the more apps u have installed, the speed at which sd card is accessed is slower.... my 720p recording/playback is not smooth as well, i have like 60-70 apps installed (lol), that's probably why
Good day,
I have unpleasant problem at my I9190. Every 5-7 minutes my device becomes to lag for 4-5 seconds. It doesn't matter if you watch a film or Youtube, play games, or just work with the interface. Every time periodically an image becomes to lag, but sound continues to work without problem. I tried to make wipes but it doesn't help. Also I tried to reinstall stock rom. Can somebody describe what is the reason of it? Root or what?
My previous I9190 (was changed because of the problems with screen) works without these glitches.
Appreciate if you will help me, these lags are really annoying.
Sounds like some hardware is causing those intermittent freezes. If you are certain reverting to stock everything and flashing in custom ROM + kernel still causes the issue then you might need to send the device in again.
I tried to flash CyanogenMod for interest and lags dissapear. After returning to stock they appeared again. Can't understand the reason, really. I tried to use smartphone with and without sim, with and without external card, with and without root, the result is the same. The only thing I can think that one of stock apps or processes makes these problems but who knows..
Hey,
I got my N7, 16GB WiFi, 1½ month(s) ago, and it was amazing. I was playing games, like Modern Combat 4, at a super smooth frame rate, I was browsing the web at amazings FPS's, just the general UI was so fluid.
The day I got it, I unlocked, flashed a recovery and rooted. I play the game I mentioned above, MC4, a lot and am quite good at it. I though that it would be a good idea to record what I was doing and show the world! (www.youtube.com/user/StealthGamingAndroid if you want to see)
The game was smooth before, just playing, and was still smooth after. What impressed me was that even while recording, it felt like I still had amazing frames.
About a week or so ago, that stopped. I was getting lag, the game was jittery and making the whole thing unplayable, even when not recording. But it wasn't just the game. The whole UI felt, even though it wasn't terrible, sluggish.
I didn't/haven't changed my setup, regarding ROM, Kernel or Processor Speeds since the day I got it. It is running the version of 4.3 it came with out of the box. (My choosing to keep it on that and not update)
The only things I have done regarding root have been using SCR Pro, the recording software, and using Xposed and Gravitybox.
I do not know what is causing this sudden lag, and how I can fix it. A brief search on Google didn't turn up anything that I could relate to. So I present to you my question.
How do I fix this lag?
I do not mind if it means using root, flashing a new ROM or even a new kernel. (Never flashed a different kernel on all 4 of my devices) Over clocking I also haven't done, but if it means removing the lag, I will consider it.
I am extremely grateful for what ever solutions or suggestions you give me, and will happily look into them.
Thank you for your time reading this, and for helping a confused user out.
Faithfully,
-R
Boot into recovery, clear you caches, boot normally, see if that fixed it, if not...boot into safe mode and see if the problem persists, if that fixed it, it's one or more of your apps, you'll have to either flash to stock and reinstall one at a time, when it starts lagging again you've found the app, or remove one at a time and see when it stops, if the problem still occurs in safe mode, backup and flash back to stock and see if it persist, if it does, maybe it's hardware.

That has fixed some of it, but it still feels choppy. (The wiping of the caches, I mean)

I use an app called Clean Maste. You can get it in the Play Store. It's basically like CC Cleaner on the computer (if you don't have it, get it!). Just clear all the stuff in the junk option EXCEPT obsolete APKs. If you know what you're doing, cleaning in Junk Advanced can help too.
Also, be sure to delete all the apps you don't need, and clear your multitasking often.
For a big performance boost. you can overclock your tablet. First, tell us if the other things work above. If not, PM me and I'll be glad to teach you to overclock

Did you try uninstalling Xposed?
When my tablet lags a little, I usually turn it completely off for a couple minutes. This helps me quite a bit.
This may sound dumb or crazy but you got to remember that it's a computer and turning it off once or twice a week will clear the cobwebs.

Totally agree.
I was running the SGH-i747M with CWM 6.0.4.7 and testing out some 4.4.2 ROMs, I got another phone to play with now and I gave this one to my girlfriend but she doesn't like nightlies so I was trying to install a 4.2.2 or 4.3.1 stable ROM and they won't work. I read online that it might be due to the CWM being too new because it's support is for Android 4.4.x. So I downgraded CWM and that didn't work either. I ended up convincing her that nightlies aren't that bad and shes currently running Carbon but she hates flashing the new nightlies so I do it for her every few days or so. I've noticed though that this phone is acting up really weird since I tried to downgrade CWM and then install the current one again. Sometimes it reboots at random, I gave the phone to her with BAM 2.0 RC2 (I know, shame on me), and that was horrid, so I tried CyanogenMod and that was "okay" but she said it's boring and she wants more features, so I switched it to Carbon because that's what I'm running on my SGH-i317M and she seems to like that, but it's still acting really weird.
When I was using the SGH-i747M while I was waiting for the new display to come in the mail for my SGH-i317M, I was running BAM and the only thing was it was a battery hog, and ocasionally I would get a "blame tyler" error for some things but it was never repeatable, I switched to Carbon and I was running completely stable on the nightlies, I used it for my day to day and not one problem, after switching over to my SGH-i317M now running CarbonROM, still flawless, not a single problem, fast, good battery life, signal strength is always good, but the phone I was on, running the same ROM, is now glitchy as hell and she's talking about getting an iPhone 5S now.. guys you gotta help me here, I just got her to give up her iPhone 4 for this S3 I gave her, I need this phone working, it is a critical situation lol.
The camera app will take one picture, then the screen will freeze and when I close the app, it opens right back up with the same picture, when I completely close the app, it opens up saying can not conect to camera and the only solution is to reboot the phone. It randomly reboots on it's own some times, the battery doesn't last more then a few hours (between 2 to 3 hours depending on use and when I was using it on Carbon, I got 30 hours off of a single charge once, but the average was around 20 hours of use before it would die) and she was telling me while she's on high brightness but never full brightness, the phone gets really hot so there's something wrong from when I flashed an old CWM using Odin, and then flashed it back to the current one.
So how can I do some kind of full wipe everything and make everything better procedure? Does this exist yet? Is it a real thing?
I'm thinking some kind of recovery wipe, completely wipe everything except the boot loader so I can install a fresh copy of CWM using Odin, and then some kind of AOSP ROM that's stable but I think she likes Carbon now so we might just stick with the nightlies as long as these random force closes and random reboots stop, and the camera works, I mean, you can't instagram without a camera, so that makes this phone nearly useless for her. One picture, freezes, reboot the phone, opens picture from gallery, then hipsters it out, then shares it.. not exactly the seamless method she was looking for lol
Please help guys, I really don't want to see another iPhone laying around the house.. ugh..
I'll go back to the very beginning. I bought my Sony Xperia Acro S 1.5 half years ago. After a month it started to get slower and slower. Apps didn't crash, it usually get stuck in one action and snap out of it after a minute, it was pretty annoying. I decided to flash a custom ROM few months ago because i thought it would fix it. I was wrong. It just got worse. I flashed an Android Lollipop 5.0 by some ''dirtypaul'' . Now my apps crash all the time ( YouTube, Twitch, Google Chrome, Games, everything). Phones keyboard often doesn't even pop up. I can use youtube and twitch for about 5-10 minutes before it crashes. It kinda fixes for 30min when i restart my phone. It is really annoying and i don't know what to do. I live in a third world country so maybe i just got a faulty phone? Any tips or solutions on how to fix this will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance
I also have the same device as yours last March I installed his ROM 5.0 and I didn't found any bug and it's working incredibly great but I didn't like it that much so I came back to the original stock acro S ROM but after a month I also get stuck and the phone always get lag so I came back to BPaul Lollipop ROM and found out it has already released a new updated version 5.1.1 lag free and working incredibly good.. ?
