Hey guys,
I'm using an LG-E975 Optimus G, unlocked by FreeGee and rooted with motochopper.
I'm getting these random crashes, which normally happens once every day. Typically when I'm sleeping.
I get a Demigod crash handler : External Modem
I flashed a 4.2.2 ROM (Thinking Bridge) onto it, seems to be a build off of CM, I don't know if that makes any difference to you :3
Googleing the error doesn't really lead me anywhere, there's one guy on XDA that had the same problem, but the thread is dead :/
I noticed that my Google Apps for some reason eats almost all the battery, maybe that's related ?

I don't mind that it happens once a day, especially if I'm asleep, but the screen stays on with the Demigod crash handler, maybe there's a way to just make the phone reboot ?
I would really appreciate your help ,
use betterbatterystats and cpu spy to see if the phone works right.
BBS is to see what is eating the battery and if there are wakelocks and cpu spy to see if the phone goes into deepsleep.
And it's known, custom roms will drain more the battery than stock. it's normal, custom roms are unofficial builds, not supported by lg.

I don't mind the battery usage, it's fine, i know what's using the batery, cause i can keep track of it all days, and when the phone throws a panic at night, it lays there with full screen brightness and never dims down or anything, that's what's eating battery.
You don't have any suggestion to the actual problem ?, the exception caught by Demigod ?
Nonetheless it's nice of you to reply
it may be an app causing this. it happened to me when i tried to use spirit ul for fm radio. my guess is something is trying to acces a function not available and you get this.
make a clean install of the rom you want and try not to restore apps with titanium. install them from playstore.

It was a completely fresh ROM, i installed it 2 days ago, happend on the very first night
Will logcat or something pick up what's happening ?
Just tried flashing the RC of Cyanogenmod, same problem, about once or twice a day it throws a demigod error :/
Hey mate I was having the exact same issue as u so I thought I'd experiment by flashing the custom ROM I wanted then flashing the original hong Kong baseband 10A afterwards. Its been 2 days no crash yet. I don't know what area ur in but try the baseband that's best for u. There's a thread on here where someone uploaded the Canada, Brazil and HK stock baseband.
I'm still waiting right now to see if it crashes but its lasted longer than just flashing a custom ROM alone. If this proves to be successful I'll post a thread for those who experience this issue and how to fix

Hey friend, I'm in Denmark
Today i got so fed up with the crashing etc. so i KDZ'ed it to stock.
However if you do decide to post a guide, I'll be happy to follow it n.n
Click my signature, it's easy to use kdz updater. Another suggestion, flash open EU kdz,not branded one. user zenalc can confirm that flashing open eu kdz solved his problems posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2436647

Hi, I have exact the same external modem error! It's verry annoying, I am wondering wether it's a baseband error or some hardware faillure. On stock I don't have the blue screen, but often the signal falls out and I think the modem is restarting (not able to have signal for 2 or 3 minutes). On custom roms, the kernel panic value is set so that there is an immediate panic, so that's why there is a blue screen. I installed trickster mod and went to sysctl kernel settings and typed panic in the searchbox and made all the values equal to 0 (which means off). Now I don't have blue screens, but I have the annoying signal drop issue.
How do I flash a korean baseband on my device? It solved tons of issues on my Optimus 2x too, but there was a risk of imei loss.
Do you solve this problem? I have the same situation. ...

I might have found the solution thanks to Faust93! I googled a bit and found certain confirmations too. The modem seems sensitive for C2 and C3 power states (when the modem tries to idle, it enters a power saving mode).
You can disable this setting with fauxclock.
Im on stock right now, but LG must have disabled this power state on her modem (or just let the modem crash, which might also happen from time to time). I think mine is crashing on stock too, I see a red cross about 10 times a day, but no bluescreen, just disappearing signal for 20 seconds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342175 << search for C2 and you will find!
unfortunately it did not help. modem still reseting. but on omnirom + f93 kernel it is only modem reset without crash (same situation on stock). i think it must be hardware problem. i send phone to lg service and they send me back with note "test ok"

My Arc S randomly reboots itself, some 2-5 times per day.
I have unlocked bootloader, tried 3 custom kernels (ArcKnight, stock 4.1.A.0.562 and stock 4.1.B.0.431 with CWM) each with 3 different roms (JJ hybrid, Arconium ICS and Mooded ICS 90.3) and still the same thing. Does anyone know if it's kernel issue, software issue or something else?
Only thing I haven't changed from my stock rom is the baseband (64).
Any chance it's hardware problem?
well maybe the battery would have been loose enough to connect and disconnect from the phone
Completely flash back to stock using pcc repair, that's probably the best idea for the moment if you still get it, then try and figure out when it happens I.e. is it when the phones hot, when your jumping around or completely random.

Turn off your phone, take out the battery put it back in and boot the phone
but make sure you've charged the phone to about 50% atleast

i took off the back cover and shook the phone violently, it doesn't reboot so i guess it's not the battery connection.

it reboots completely random, sometimes when sitting on the desk, sometimes in the middle of conversation...the heat is normal for the usage situation (no heat when not using the phone). have to see how to use pcc repair, since i haven't used it. i have stock backup made from CWM recovery after unlocking the bootloader and flashing new kernel. maybe i can restore that backup?

undervolting? governor? i even dunno what those things are I just flashed the kernels that i listed above and used them as they are. i had the same problem with all of them, except when i think a bit, i didn't have problems from the very start. there were some rom versions maybe with combination of the apps that i was using at that time that didnt make my phone reboot. i just dont remember which roms and versions they were
Same issue here
Any result yet lalek?
I'm running Mooded ICS 90.7 on my Arc S, with DoomKernel 2.6.32.9, baseband 72, unlocked bootloader and rooted (obviously), and over the past week or so it's been doing random reboots. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes it will go for a few days.
Apps are Titanium Backup, Link2SD, AVG free, Dolphin HD, Superuser, MX Player, and just the usual banking apps, Angry Birds, Gmail etc. It's only rebooted while sitting on the desk sleeping, never while in use. I've uninstalled apps, found it still random reboots so reinstalled them. I'm starting to think its ROM or kernel related.
You should try re-flashing stock ROM ftf file using Flashtool, I recommend 0.587, see link on my signature for ftf file.
Try that for a few days, I'm sure it will be stable, then you can further customize the ROM.
Also be careful of heat if using some sort of tight-fitting case with the phone.
Thanks
I'll try that tonight!
I do have one of those TPU cases and had the phone pretty hot gaming while charging, but it's never hot when it does the reboot.
It will happen when RAM eaten by running application in background. Uninstalling a few apps will be help.
Sorry for my bad english

hi guys,
same problem here on my Xperia Arc
i have worked out what is causing the issue for me.
i ran a logcat that updated live to a file on my sd card so as soon as the device rebooted, it had logged the very last thing that happened on the device.
turns out the last thing happening was WiFi scanning.
i then turned my WiFi off and for the past 3 days i have not experienced a reboot at all!
when this first happened these are the steps i took.
i completely wiped the device (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition, format system)
i then flashed Baseband 77 using flashtool
i then flashed fxp149 using flashtool
i then flashed Baseband 77 libs using CWM
i then flashed AOKP JB M1-R1 ROM using CWM
i then flashed gapps using CWM
i the reloaded all apps from the market and not applied any backups and yet it still rebooted all the time.
Since then i have tried using
Fusion 3.8
Fusion 3.9
Fusion 4.0
FXP 148
FXP 150
Stock Kernel inside ROM .zip file.
I have also tried putting it back to Baseband 72 but it made no difference.
I then decided to go all the way back to stock firmware as it is out of the box.
so I used flashtool and flashed LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf
I reloaded my applications and monitored the device only to see that by the next day, the problem had returned.
THIS IS NOT A ROM OR KERNEL ISSUE!!
or at least it isnt for me, but it sounds EXACTLY the same as what everyone here is experiencing
i advise everyone, no matter what ROM or Kernel you are running to try turning off your wifi or even putting the device in airplane mode for a day and monitor
also try running a live logcat
to do this, open a terminal session and type
su
cd sdcard
logcat >> logcat.txt
then leave the terminal running in the background. (you will have the icon in the notification area that tells you its running)
you can then check your sd card and will see logcat.txt file there
you need to open it in wordpad or something of the sort as notepad doesnt display it nicely enough to read
anyone who tries this i would love to hear how it goes
i am curious to see exactly what is causing this but im starting to think it is a hardware issue.
hope this helps!!

It is a problem with battery connection. It is like a fabrique fault with Arc S. You have it explained here:
xperia-arcs-auto-reboot.blogspot.com
D851 here, When ever i switched from cloudy 2.5 to blisspop 4.0 and after wiping everything i flashed a various of radios bootstacks and etc to make it boot after many failed attempts to boot ( it boots up but after 4 or so seconds after the lg logo the screen turns black and doesnt turn back on until after i pull out the battery) it worked after i flashed the rom WITHOUT a custom kernel so naturally i booted up just fine and thought maybe now i set up everything on my phone and tweaks i should go back and flash a custom kernel i used to use (777 r16) but then it gave me the problem i faced before the black screen after the lg logo no kernal would work. THEN another problem arised similar to the freezing on the black screen randomly during a usage thru my day the phones screen would be unresponsive animations but touch wouldnt work and i know its not my screen cause when i flash back to cloudy it works fine the freezing happens at least every 5 mins. someone halp?
i know this thread is kinds old...
but i have this same issue too... I found if I switch batteries the problem isn't as bad... but, then it becomes bad again. Its weird. Before I swapped batteries I couldn't even login with my google account, after a fresh flash. then after I swapped batteries (gf has same phone) I was able to get through to the end and setup the phone. But, then an hour later it started happening again....
OP, did you find a solution?

i actaully did i think one of the problems was maybe flashing over the same kernel? see what happened was after i gave up flashing the kernel i just flashed without it and to my surprise the build actually came with the kernel pre-installed...shocker and so i had no need to flash over the kernel that i wants because the maker of g3 tmo blisspop already had it in his build and it boots up fine( DISCLAIMER: i cant say this about other roms because the only one i actually tested and wanted was blisspop)

Okay.
Well, when I was flashing I never flashed a kernel.
Ill be getting a brand new Anker Battery in the mail today. Ill report my findings.
I ended up going to a stock based rom and the issue never happened. So I stuck with it. Ill have to do some testing later and ill let you know how the battery works.
It's not the battery
I downgraded my T-Mo G3 since I couldn't root it with LP on it. Went back to 4.4.2., rooted it, TWRP'd it, and installed the latest CM12 Nightly, Gapps, SU, etc.
As long as the sim card was OUT the installation was great on wifi only, As soon as I put it in it shut off right after, or during boot up. Take the sim out and it works. And yes, the only way to get back into recovery was pulling the battery and doing the key press to recovery. Mystified.
If I find out anything, I'll post it here.
I'd say do a complete return to stock, upgrade via LG Mobile Support tool all the way to 20G, see how it works stock for a while. Then root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197 using the first method) and see what happens.

This problem is due to kernal panic. Flash stock firmware or flash stock based rom may be this will fix your issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
How r u gonna say its due to kernal panic. That a biased answer. Thats a little extreme to not trying any other solutions first it could be as small as underclocked to far. Im not one to go against any body trying to help but thats worst case scenerio yea u can try tot and if it still happens possibly hardware issue but still could be on software end but theen this user has to restore all apps and much more. You can use other apps to freeze apps to try that. R unrunning a custom kernal or stock naemomr and mods trickster faux anything like that bad build prop edits
This happend with my G3. I tried every possible solution but nothing happend but after flashing tot everything working fine.
If problem with any app or build prop it will fix them also.
And if its hardware issue then contact your carrier.
so i flashed the official marshmallow for lg g3 on january. everything was fine. today the phone just stopped working. i had no previous signals like glitches or bugs, it was perfect but now its just gone.
so after this 3 months of usage, while listening to music, the phone stopped working (without even touching it)
if i reboot it, it gets me into a boot loop and when it doesn't its just black screen
SOMETIMES THO i have the luck of it booting but i cant do nothing as it constantly shows android.process.com stopped working (i dont remember the exact name) but anyway after 1 minute it reboots himself because of the constant crashes.
if i enter download mode i get a message that sounds like this:
KERNEL CRASH!
demigod crash handler: kernel crash!
*something about dload mode and get ram dump*
*here info about phone like revision and serial*
internal error: oops: PREEMPT SMP ARM
linked in: texfat(p0)
*random numbers*
*error codes*
Kernel panic - not syncing: fatal exception
sorry im so vague about it but im writing this from memory right now. if you need more just ask
as a matter of fact, the only thing that this phone has is the MM official rom flashed (poland one)
its not rooted neither with custom recovery
i still have one year warranty, if i bring it to them its ok or i have to pay? i say this considering mm hasnt arrived yet to my country through ota. the main thing im concerned is if i can recover any of my photos/videos/music as it has some sentimental value but its not a must, the main priority is to get the phone working
and also the phone is recognized as lg g3 when plugged in computer, put cant enter download mode because of the reason above.
no recoveries as i said, and im pretty sure that if i get somehow to factory reset it will stay the same as the kernel doesnt get reflashed (im not a pro, just intuition, correct me if im wrong)
any help is appreciated!thank you in advance
just if anyone gets this problem and doesn't know how to solve it, its a hardware problem, not software, so warranty does cover it
As they won't give me much details, the only thing i know its that a specific component from the phone stopped working
does anyone have an idea of what component from the phone is responsible for that? just so i have an idea of what happened.

can u plzz tell in detail how u fixed this
Hello people! I have strange problem.
Yesterday my phone freezes and rebooted, SIM was not working. I was on 30.3. 2106 cm nightly.
From that time, my phone randomly freezes and then immediately rebooted.
Before that, I was playing with CPU governor values, can that damage hardware? (No heat or something like that, but SIM)
Tried many cm13 builds, aosp's, fulmics, cloudy, another kernels, reflahed modem, another battery..
Every ROM was after clean install, apps installed from play store, few with restored data, tried with and without them, same with Xposed, doesn't matter anything.
Anyone know what is it? My phone leaving?
Sorry for bad English. Thanks David.
Tell us, which baseband version you have.
Only 21c on cm13 works. So this one.
OK, I had the same problem too.
I fixed it by removing Kernel Adiutor (yeah, Kernel Adiutor). Then I installed V21C (13.2-00002) modem and rpm/tz partitions (V21C too) posted by @Step-han right here.
I don't know how it works on cm but I'm using stock mm and it works good
Let's try it! I will post results
@jaro1221 It works! Thank you man! Maybe it was caused by installing Fulmics, which reflahed modem.
Thanks!
Having this same problem, first the sim not detected, then from a couple of days apparently random freezes and reboots that persist across stock based and aosp/cm Roms. But I noticed that the freezes and reboots occur only when the device is warm. Not hot, warm as in if the CPU temp is above 60° C. If it is below 60, the phone can be used for hours without a problem. Any ideas? Could it be hardware related? I've used for months my g3 , and it rarely crossed the 70° , and did not have this problem. I'm using a d855 16 GB if that matters.
Update: Just in case this could be useful for someone. First,my device got worse,it couldn't boot at all even while cold. it could not get past the lg logo, not in rom,not in recovery. I fixed my problem, maybe temporary, by using some folded aluminium foil. I opened the phone, and put some of it between the mother board and the display, in the same place where you can apply the thermal mod,and then some other between the board and the back case, under the place where the power and volume buttons are. I closed the phone and it booted up, I'm using it for half a day now, installed some games, played while monitoring the CPU temperature. It can go up to 70 degrees and it did not freeze, nor reboot as far. I rebooted some times myself to test if it would detect the sim card, and it had no problem so far,but maybe it is to soon to tell. So... I will update if something happens.
