Hello people! I have strange problem.
Yesterday my phone freezes and rebooted, SIM was not working. I was on 30.3. 2106 cm nightly.
From that time, my phone randomly freezes and then immediately rebooted.
Before that, I was playing with CPU governor values, can that damage hardware? (No heat or something like that, but SIM)
Tried many cm13 builds, aosp's, fulmics, cloudy, another kernels, reflahed modem, another battery..
Every ROM was after clean install, apps installed from play store, few with restored data, tried with and without them, same with Xposed, doesn't matter anything.
Anyone know what is it? My phone leaving?
Sorry for bad English. Thanks David.
Tell us, which baseband version you have.
Only 21c on cm13 works. So this one.
OK, I had the same problem too.
I fixed it by removing Kernel Adiutor (yeah, Kernel Adiutor). Then I installed V21C (13.2-00002) modem and rpm/tz partitions (V21C too) posted by @Step-han right here.
I don't know how it works on cm but I'm using stock mm and it works good
Let's try it! I will post results
@jaro1221 It works! Thank you man! Maybe it was caused by installing Fulmics, which reflahed modem.
Thanks!
Having this same problem, first the sim not detected, then from a couple of days apparently random freezes and reboots that persist across stock based and aosp/cm Roms. But I noticed that the freezes and reboots occur only when the device is warm. Not hot, warm as in if the CPU temp is above 60° C. If it is below 60, the phone can be used for hours without a problem. Any ideas? Could it be hardware related? I've used for months my g3 , and it rarely crossed the 70° , and did not have this problem. I'm using a d855 16 GB if that matters.
Update: Just in case this could be useful for someone. First,my device got worse,it couldn't boot at all even while cold. it could not get past the lg logo, not in rom,not in recovery. I fixed my problem, maybe temporary, by using some folded aluminium foil. I opened the phone, and put some of it between the mother board and the display, in the same place where you can apply the thermal mod,and then some other between the board and the back case, under the place where the power and volume buttons are. I closed the phone and it booted up, I'm using it for half a day now, installed some games, played while monitoring the CPU temperature. It can go up to 70 degrees and it did not freeze, nor reboot as far. I rebooted some times myself to test if it would detect the sim card, and it had no problem so far,but maybe it is to soon to tell. So... I will update if something happens.

Well, this sucks. Upgraded from the Hero to the Desire Z 1.5 weeks ago. Downgraded it, rooted it, tried out a few ROMs, settled on Virtuous Unity and all was happy.
I used the phone in the car this morning as a GPS, 3G data connection was working fine, etc. I had a couple of client meetings, after which I pulled out my phone to check for messages. I noticed there was no mobile signal at all. I figured it was building interference, so I went outside. Still nothing. Wifi was working fine, GPS was working fine. I enabled airplane mode, then disabled it again to see if that would kickstart things. Still no go.
I decided then to power cycle the phone to see if that would help. It went through the usual reboot cycle, displayed the lock screen, then the SIM unlock screen. Then no matter what I do or don't do, about 5 or 6 seconds later, the screen suddenly goes black and the phone reboots.
Now it just does the same thing over and over again. The phone boots up fine, displays the lock screen briefly, then the SIM unlock screen, then it crashes and reboots. Whether I unlock the SIM or not doesn't matter. Within 5 or 6 seconds, the phone will reboot. I can see notification icons popping up, so everything appears to be working fine otherwise.
I have not changed anything on the phone this morning: it was sitting in my pocket the entire time. Same ROM, same radio firmware. I restored last night's nandroid backup just in case, but it didn't help. I thought perhaps it was VU's built-in overclocking that wasn't agreeing with the phone, so I restored a MIUI-based backup. No go. I went all the way back to the stock (but rooted) Bell Desire Z image I took when I first got the phone. Still no go.
I've tried booting up without the SIM card, and without the SD card. Nothing works. I'm guessing the phone suddenly developed a hardware problem. It would be something that is triggered soon after the OS has successfully loaded. Maybe something to do with the 3G radio?
There are no obvious errors or kernel panic messages in logcat. Everything appears to be proceeding normally, until it just comes to a dead stop. Anyone have other suggestions I can try?
Search this forum for "boot loop" and you'll find some things to try.
Thanks, burtcom, but none of the threads I checked apply here. Other boot loop problems more often have to do with the phone rebooting while the boot animation is still playing. My phone successfully boots and is in the process of loading user apps when it crashes. Also, most reports come as a result of something attempting to root their phone and then installing a ROM. I've already made it past that stage. I am able to boot into CWM, do my nandroid backups and restores, etc. The ROMs have all been working fine up until some point this morning. The fact that several different ROMs now all have the same problem makes me suspect a hardware issue.
Moved my SIM and SD card back over to my Hero, and everything works fine there, so I strongly suspect some hardware just broke on the DZ this morning. I'll try flashing a new radio firmware, but I can't see how that would fix anything, since the old version was working just fine all along.

Huh... so I flashed the latest Bell Canada 26.06.02.25_m2 radio.img, (up from my old 26.03.02.18_m3 firmware), and now the phone no longer crashes. I'm thinking maybe it isn't an issue with old vs new firmware, but that the old firmware was somehow corrupted during the course of the day. Re-flashing the original radio probably would have worked too, but now I have the latest one...
Hopefully this will help someone in the future with the same problem.

The phone no longer reboots, but I still had the problem of not picking up any signal whatsoever (voice or data), even though wifi and GPS work just fine. APN settings were verified to be correct. It turns out I had to go into Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Network operators -> Search network and manually re-register my phone on TELUS. Bizarre.
I had the same problem, update your radio and flash this zip on the Unity Thread
"For people experiencing random phone Freezes, this is due to overclocking, it's solved by lowering max speed.
Just flash this patch over: (link is on the thread)"
That's a different kind of problem, sengalang. My phone was working just fine overclocked to 1.2 GHz for over a weeks, so why would it suddenly start crashing like this? Problems due to overclocking tend to result in reboots at random times, and not at 100% predictable times like my problem. I did also boot with the MIUI and stock DZ ROMs, which do not overclock... same problem. Thus the root cause was not CPU speed.
D851 here, When ever i switched from cloudy 2.5 to blisspop 4.0 and after wiping everything i flashed a various of radios bootstacks and etc to make it boot after many failed attempts to boot ( it boots up but after 4 or so seconds after the lg logo the screen turns black and doesnt turn back on until after i pull out the battery) it worked after i flashed the rom WITHOUT a custom kernel so naturally i booted up just fine and thought maybe now i set up everything on my phone and tweaks i should go back and flash a custom kernel i used to use (777 r16) but then it gave me the problem i faced before the black screen after the lg logo no kernal would work. THEN another problem arised similar to the freezing on the black screen randomly during a usage thru my day the phones screen would be unresponsive animations but touch wouldnt work and i know its not my screen cause when i flash back to cloudy it works fine the freezing happens at least every 5 mins. someone halp?
i know this thread is kinds old...
but i have this same issue too... I found if I switch batteries the problem isn't as bad... but, then it becomes bad again. Its weird. Before I swapped batteries I couldn't even login with my google account, after a fresh flash. then after I swapped batteries (gf has same phone) I was able to get through to the end and setup the phone. But, then an hour later it started happening again....
OP, did you find a solution?

i actaully did i think one of the problems was maybe flashing over the same kernel? see what happened was after i gave up flashing the kernel i just flashed without it and to my surprise the build actually came with the kernel pre-installed...shocker and so i had no need to flash over the kernel that i wants because the maker of g3 tmo blisspop already had it in his build and it boots up fine( DISCLAIMER: i cant say this about other roms because the only one i actually tested and wanted was blisspop)

Okay.
Well, when I was flashing I never flashed a kernel.
Ill be getting a brand new Anker Battery in the mail today. Ill report my findings.
I ended up going to a stock based rom and the issue never happened. So I stuck with it. Ill have to do some testing later and ill let you know how the battery works.
It's not the battery
I downgraded my T-Mo G3 since I couldn't root it with LP on it. Went back to 4.4.2., rooted it, TWRP'd it, and installed the latest CM12 Nightly, Gapps, SU, etc.
As long as the sim card was OUT the installation was great on wifi only, As soon as I put it in it shut off right after, or during boot up. Take the sim out and it works. And yes, the only way to get back into recovery was pulling the battery and doing the key press to recovery. Mystified.
If I find out anything, I'll post it here.
I'd say do a complete return to stock, upgrade via LG Mobile Support tool all the way to 20G, see how it works stock for a while. Then root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197 using the first method) and see what happens.
A fair number of unlucky LG G3 owners using AOSP/CM-based ROMs, myself included, have a major problem with the issue where a reboot/power-on cycle results in the phone getting stuck at the LG or boot splash screen ad infinitum.
The only way around it is to do a battery pull, sometimes several times, before the phone eventually recovers, but not until after it's gone thru its "Optimizing" or "Upgrading" apps, which takes 5-10 extremely annoying minutes.
I'm using a D851 and have this issue with every ROM I've used (Xenon, Exodus, AICP, to name a few).
This is not a battery issue as I've had the same problem using batteries from 3 different manufacturers. I've also had the same problem when plugged in.
If anyone knows of a fix - would be greatly appreciated (please don't say factory reset or root back to stock - I've already done this and it doesn't fix this issue).
I also have this problem with aosp and cm roms, i also get bsod sometimes. I think that maby the battery is broken, but im not sure since i dont got any problems on stock. When i get money for a new battery i will reply here with results.
I got my new battery today and it bootet up instantly
I had this issue on my d852 running cm12.1. It turns out using autorec is what caused it for me. I fixed it by flashing a kitkat tot then installing twrp using flashify. Once I had twrp installed I flashed the modem.bin from a lollipop d852 kdz. I haven't had a shutdown/reboot hang in a week now.
I have the same problem D851, it happens on latest builds of exodus and aicp. candy and blisspop works fine without any issues. I have changed the battery but the problem persist on exodus and aicp
So, I've had the premium for almost 3 weeks now. On the second day it crashed whilst I was listening to music +browsing in chrome. Thr screen turned inky and then turned off. Since then I haven't had anything similar happen, but I have had 1 or 2 reboots. Are these signs something could be wrong with my phone? I have like a week to get a replacement. It's rev 2, other than this I have no complaints.
Try to remove cach in recovery mode, maybe that will fix your problem. If not let me know
This has been happening to me as well and actually results in boot loops. Since I have Liveboot, I can see the dmesg output. It says "Failed to start system services. Invalid abi: ABI" or something like that. I'm RomAur so maybe that has something to do with it?
It has happened to me 3 times this week. Also RomAur 1.1. It seems to happen when i am heavy multitasking, definitely related to chrome I think.
I'm completely stock... I use chrome as my main browser. The last time it happened it froze on wake whilst it was charging... The first time I was listening to music and doing something else which I can't recall. The phone has 3gb of ram so I don't really clear my recent apps as often as I did on my S4. It happens once a week on average for me. Cache wipe didn't do anything.
You could've easily gotten a faulty device. A but load of hardware issues can do that and I would advice you to do a factory reset, update to the latest F/W (flash it if not available in ur region), see if it happens again and if it does - get a replacement
Gd luck
If you're totally stock this might not help but I narrowed my problem down to xposed being unstable as crap on mine at least. Hasn't happened since I went back to stock fw (using. 200 generic FR). But I tried to install xposed and I got the three light reboot immediately.

exactly like that on my z5 . when i flash the xposed uninstaller , it doesnt randomly reboot, but when i flash xposed , it does.i was thinking of flashing .200 ftf and then flashing xposed from the beggining (before i install any apps ) to see if it helps , but you said you did it??
Hi guys,
I updated my op3 to latest beta 28 but I got random reboots when I'm not using it;
in fact, usually it reboots when charging or when it's in standby, and other moments like that.. I really don't know why!
I checked the MD5 of the zip, I flashed with the latest bluspark 8.54 and I did a full wipe;
I also reflashed with a dirty flash the ROM(and other ROMs based on Oxy).
Nothing changed.. it appears 2-3 times per day.
Anyone of you got the same error? which could be a solution?
I had exactly the same problem, but flash rom via adb fixed that.
not experiencing any.. stock non rooted...

Sounds interesting.. will try! Thx in advance
Morning! You're not the onlyone having troubles with OB28, I'm facing similar issues aswell. Decided to wipe all and perform another clean install (not via adb as suggested above) yesterday afternoon and no issues so far. Will keep you updated
Running ExperienceOS by Jamal btw, which is based on stock OB28
I have had this as well. Just keeps rebooting randomly.
Dirty flashing the rom ob28 helps and keeps it stable. But then it reappears after some time randomly. It could be after a few hours or a day or two as well. Yesterday it just started rebooting while it was lying on the desk.
I suspect it could be because of a custom kernel. I have moved from custom to stock (rooted) for now. Lets see
Having same with ob28 also with 5.0. Sometimes it starts rebooting when charging, sometimes while just laying on the desk. 2 times I had it rebooted to recovery. I have even missed an alarm. I found a phone rebooted to recovery in the morning.
Yesterday clean installed 5.0. Rebooted 10 minutes ago. Dirty flashed ob28, retooting also.

In another thread, someone suggested rooting with SuperSU instead of Magisk. Tried that and now stable of over 2 days. You might give it a try
It has something to do with magisk or bluspark twrp in combination with something. Tried installing Supersu. Rebooting stopped, but dm-verity message appeared when booting. Decided to format everything. Flashed original recovery, but it could not decrypt file system. Tapped on forgot my password and it wiped everything. Sideloaded OOS 5.0, rebooted, then flashed twrp via fastboot. Flashed magisk 14.5. Stable for 2 days.

I have 2 oneplus 3 (one for me and my wife). I installed on both the latest beta Hydrogen OS (basically the same version as OB28).
On both devices, magisk 14.5 is installed.
And yes, I received random reboots maybe 1-2 days one time. And once rebooted, sometimes it will reboot again few seconds after that for few times.
Usually to stop that, after the reboot done, I will reboot the phone manually as fast as possible. And it will be okay for another 1-2 days.
So far I can live with this. But I might downgrade my wife's phone to something else stable

Same behaviour here on OxygenOS 5.0 with Magisk 14.5 and Boeffla kernel. I usually wipe cache and dalvik in TWRP 3.2 and then it's fine for a couple of hours (or days, if I'm lucky).
Quick update from my side. It's been 6 days since I replaced Magisk and rooted with SuperSU and it definitely solved my issues. No reboots or whatsoever.

Same here
Been in SuperSU for 3 days. No issues so far
Op3 ob28
I had random reboots on Freedom OS 3.1 after about two weeks of use with stock kernel and Magisk 14 (no issues before that). Flashed Blu Spark 207, didn't help. Flashed FOS 3.2: neither. Somebody suggested aggressive dose to be the culprit. It wasn't as I didn't had it enabled for starters. I Flashed official OB28 + magisk and stock kernel... And after one day, reboot. Flashed Blu Spark 208, reboot. But after a couple more reboots last week, they seem to have gone by themselves:
$ uptime
02:00:49 up 4 days, 6:48, load average: 2.98, 2.01, 2.24
*I had not tried using super su instead.
What can we do to debug this issue? Seems like everybody is trying to guess in the dark...
---------- Post added at 09:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 AM ----------
If I may suggest, there seems to be a sort of "environmental" origin for this... I've noticed some "correlated incidence of reboots" between unrelated devices, regardless of specific OB variant (OB, FOS, EOS), kernel (stock, Blu), and root method, based on number of complaints and reports of generically unsuccessful attempts to solve the issue in the respective ROM threads, and here too.
Besides, I've not been able to identify any usage related trigger: this has happened to me while phone is idle, while browsing this thread, while driving thru unknown and dangerous streets guided by Waze, while commuting on the subway and only listening music...
Some more rigurous analysis of the prevalence of these reboots as a function of time might prove useful...
Also, there seems to be a growing incidence between users. There seems to be also a "incubation time" for most of us (but not for everybody). Are we sure we are not talking about some disease?
Just had another reboot. No Magisk log created...
But on every reboot I seem to lose some settings (in the settings app). Which setting is lost, seems completely random: battery optimization setting, LED notification setting, configured sounds,...
Aaand..... Two reboots lastima friday, and about 5 today...
This Is turning into a real deal breaker...
Experiencing back to back reboots form morning on stable Oreo op3. Imma switch back to 7.1 til the time its solved
I also have problems with reboots, but they have given way. Now I have a problem with the phone's sudden heating and battery drain this.

Those experiencing reboots .. pls specify if it's with or without magisk. And if it's with, which version. And if it's without, what other modding have you done.
Will be helpful to establish the common thing in the setup causing the reboots

With magisk 14.0 and later magisk 14.5. Now I'm testing without root at all, as it seems to be magisk related, it is also reported on the magisk thread.
