I recently (1 week ago) flashed Paranoid Android's latest ROM (3.99 I believe) and have been running flawless since the flash. However, this morning my phone hasn't been able to pick up a data signal. I can connect to WiFi and also can receive calls (I am getting phone signal), but no data is working on my phone unless I connect to a WiFi signal.
What I've tried:
- rebooting the device
- updating profile and prl
- rebooting to recovery and fixing permissions
- rebooting the device
- toggling wifi and data (on/off)
- rebooting the device
Did I mention I rebooted the device? Nothing.
Any help here?

Is data even enabled? Check and uncheck, reboot (Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile Networks > Data enabled)
Do you have a data usage cap set?
It sounds like Sprint cause of the profile/prl. I've had outages for my area before, luckily my personal phone is on AT&T...

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I've tried it already. I do not have a data cap set on the phone. I'm hoping it is with Sprint and not anything too complicated. If other co-workers have Sprint and their data works, would that indicate that it is on my end?
The data issue with sprint is because its a 4.3 ROM, and data with those ROMs( on sprint ) is hit or miss. They're getting better, but not 100% yet. Just flash back to 4.2.2 and you should be fine

This is driving me crazy. I had stock 2.2 on my HTC Desire before, and wifi worked perfectly. Then I changed to Miui because my internal memory was chock full and now I discover that Wifi constantly cuts out without the phone switching to mobile data. This means that I've been without email notifications for hours at a time without realising. Each time I want to use my phone to surf while at home, I have to turn wifi off and then back on.
Anyone know what causes this or how I can fix it?
Update to the latest radio? To be honest, using custom roms always have their bugs. Just because they are 2.2, they are no way near the same version of coding that you get from a manufacturer so yes, there are going to be some bugs and flaws in custom roms. You could try to update the radio as I said to 5.14.05.17. You could also try putting the Wi-Fi to never sleep, Settings > Wi-Fi and Networks > Wi-Fi settings, press menu key and click advanced, changed the Wi-Fi sleep policy to never or if they don't work, backup your data and just flash the rom again with no data wipe.

I already set it to "never sleep" - it was the first thing I changed when wifi started dropping. The radio was already at the level they mentioned before I flashed it, as well, so I can't upgrade that either. I'll see what if it gets any better by rebooting it and maybe changing some settings on my router - if it doesn't, I'll do the re-flash but somehow I doubt it will fix it.
It'll be most likely a problem with the rom.
Hi,
Iv noticed if i leave the wireless inactive for a period of time (still connected at full strength) it will stop working as in there will be no data activity at all. I wont be able to access any websites, or use whats app messenger. The only way to resolve this problem is to switch the wireless off and back on again for it to reconnect and normal data activity begins.
Android version: 2.3.3
Software number: 2.50.405.2
I have the latest software installed including the recent wireless fix that was sent out OTA. I thought that would of fixed it, but clearly not.
Does HTC know about this and any fix in the pipeline?
Anyone????
Go to > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings
in Wi-Fi settings press menu > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy and set to never
Hope That Works.

Oh...my radio is: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
The Radio you have is fine..
this can be one of the following problems
1. your phone software is playing up
2. your Wi-Fi router DHCP leasetime (google this) is too low hence the drop out.
3. your Wi-Fi antenna is not functioning as it should (I doubt it)
What I would suggest is try updating your phone software to the latest. if you already have the latest version then I would suggest you backup any important data saved on phone and do a Factory data reset under Setting > SD & phone storage, if that still doesn't work I would check your router settings step 2, try everything I've mentioned if all else fails........
You can always root your phone and Install a custom ROM. I used to have so many problems with the stock HTC rom: gps not fixing, bad reception, call history problems, system slowdowns now I am Using Android Revolution 5.2.5 with Radio_12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M Excellent reception NO PROBLEMS and a very fast and healthy phone

Hi thanks for that! I think its due to the software installed on the phone. Before the froyo update, the server lease time was exactly the same and no problemo. Its just recently after I installed froyo things started messing up with the wifi. But iv selected the 'Best Wi-Fi performance' option and it seems fine so far, no inactivity.
Everytime i flash custom rom after wiping cache and dalvik i lose my 3g connection then i had to go back to my nandroid to get the 3g back.
anyone knows what causing this ? THis is my first gsm phone never had problem with cdma.
CDMA is old. GSM is the future and will set you free.
Maybe try flashing another radio. Are you sure the ROM isn't set to only go in 2G mode? I flash ROMs regularly and they go from this:
No signal > Signal (2-4 bars, no data) > Signal (2.5G, GPRS) / Signal (2.75G, EDGE) > Signal (3G/HSPA) > Signal (4G/HSPA+)
Sometimes you also need to set the right data profile. For example, my SIM sometimes gets confused: "Do I use Virgin Mobile's data settings or Optus data settings?"
The 2G/3G thing only appears when you've got data connectivity. If you're in an area where Data cannot be used, the G/E/3G/H/H+/4G icon will not appear.

Are you sure you're flashing a GSM ROM?
If you are, you need to check your APNs and do some reboots, see if your connection comes back.

Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
they should load automatically. You can always enter manually or hit "reset to default".

thanks a lot man
It only happens when i flash liquid smooth and hybrid tablet rom and i just flashed maguro build 35 after factory reset and wipe and my hspa data is working.
Yesterday I upgraded my Galaxy W to CM11-20140122 as per the instructions on the developer section of this site. Everything went smoothly and I connected the phone to my home wifi and update and reinstalled all my apps. No problems. Thismorning though, I'm experiencing wifi and data over network connection issues. For some reason, although I can see the wifi networks and I'm notified that there are networks available, I cannot connect to them - even though I could previously! The same thing happens with my mobile network - the network is connected and I can make calls and send texts but I persistently get 'No service' and no data connection.
If anyone has any ideas how I fix this I'd appreciate it? Is anyone else is having the same kind of issues? I was thinking of upgrading to kernel 3.4.80 to see if that solved anything...
ok, so after three hours sat within range of the wifi, suddenly the phone has decide to connect to it (as I wrote the above post - maybe its feeling threatened! ). I wonder if this is going to be persistent behavior or wether it was a 1-off.

Interestingly, my wifi seems ok now, but I'm still not getting any packet-data connection. After a recent phonecall I got the message 'No Sim or Sim Error' (although it let me make the call). Then I look at the details under 'About Phone' and 'Status' I get the IMEI number, it lists my phone number as unknown and Mobile Network State as Disconnected. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to be connected to the right network either. I wonder if the packet thing is actually and issue with reading the sim-card?
fix
How did you install the rom ??
I think restarting the phone after switching to 2g fixes the issue
it only happens on wrong recovery options (dirty flash)
use this "clean to install a new rom"

I followed the instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588495 to install the rom. I used Odin 4.43 to install ancora.ops, then factory reset and cache wipe, then flashed the rom, then reboot (basically). I don't think there was anything wrong with the flashing process, it all seemed to go smoothly...
How do I 'switch to 2g'? do you mean select my preferred network as 2g?
OK, so I flashed the kernal to 3.4.80 and everything went smoothly. Wireless has been behaving (and was before the update), but I am still getting 'No Service' on my mobile connection. I tried setting my preferred network connection to 2G and that hasn't helped. I can probably live with it if wifi is working, but it is a bit annoying... I guess I could try the 'clean install' link.
Have this problem on DarkCM rom too
Recently i have entered some state in which mobile data is busted on my phone. I have tested multiple android pie roms to find the same thing in each. When i flash the latest stock android (PQ1A.181205.002), mobile data is fine. In this broken state i can see the signal bars with a little 'R' by them (notification on lost mobile data connection Data roaming is turned off. tap to turn on). Every time i navigate into Settings> Network & internet > Mobile Network > Advanced > Carrier Settings. The screen will flash and take me back to Mobile Network, this happens with every custom rom tested. The app SprintDM tries to set up the phone 5 times and then fails. Phone codes seem to have no effect. the code 4636 will allow me to view current info in which it says mobile data disconnected. It doesn't appear to matter if i connect to wifi and allow the basic stock apps to update first. Reboots do not help. I even tried flashing the modem and radio for PQ1A.181105.017.A1 and OPM4.171019.021.R1. I can also say the phone app shows a message "This device is not supported and phone calls may not work correctly". Phone calls work fine. Previously i was running LiquidRemix (10.0.2) just fine, everything working. Randomly mobile data died so i tried a update to LiquidRemix (10.0.3) and still busted. Tested multiple other PIE roms to find the same. And again if i flash any stock firmware mobile data is fine. Anyone else see this or have an idea of how to fix this for custom roms?
I rooted my pixel2xl yesterday and installed Havoc OS.
Today I was out with my family and was trying to navigate via Google maps and it continuously displayed error "try again"
Status bar was showing lte connection then I tried opening chrome and was unable to use mobile data even if it being on and active.
I am planning to move to Stock again tomorrow

vipulkarkar, did you find out any other additional info on this? I went back to stock and everything is fine but would very much rather be running a custom rom.
Just seeing this post, fortunately, I've not run into this issue on stock or custom roms ... What I do run into, on stock or custom roms, is when I leave my house, with a T-Mobile CellSpot, I tend to switch to 3G or H+ in an LTE area. I sometimes have to cycle airport mode a couple times to get LTE back.. So odd and annoying!
Is there something we Sprint users could do to help the devs include Sprint connectivity in their roms? Like provide a nandroid backup of our device or ?
