Unless you intend to flash custom Kernel, having a locked bootloader doesn't prevent you from flashing it with Flashtool unless you mean flashing CyanogenMod.

[Q] flashing a rom on a stock phone

I'm looking at purchasing a used xperia play r800x (verizon) on ebay, ive checken and the esn is clear but the screen is locked due to forgetting the screen unlock code.
is there anyway on a stock unrooted phone that a stock rom can be flashed and clear up the problem?
ive rooted several android phones and always run custom roms ive just never tried it on a stock phone so im not sure if its possible.
thanks in advance
you could use the sony ericsson PC companion to flash your phone i think.
or you could unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and make a factory reset with this.

Wifi has stopped turning on!

Is anybody able to help, for some reason my wifi has stopped working all together, I have flashed different kernels, roms and have now just reflashed the stock google 4.0.2 image but it is still greyed out and just says turning wifi on when i try to turn it on....I have flashed the phone from the stock carrier image so am unsure if they will honor the warranty.
Thanks
Paul

If restoring the stock image didn't work, you should lock the bootloader and send it to Samsung repair service with warranty
It came with a branded rom when i brought it tho which would mean I have voided the warranty wouldnt it?

are you sure it was branded? i might be wrong, but there's no branded galaxy nexus. Maybe you just bought with a mobile provider, but it's not branded
it was a yakjudv i think and i flashed it to yakju..

ok, but it's still google Stock Image you downloaded from the official website right? I think that cannot invalidate your warranty, unlocking the bootloader does, having a yakju image doesn't
but they would know that flashing the google image requires unlocking the bootloader?

I don't think they'll act like *****es trying to avoid your warranty. But if you really want to be sure, just open a thread requesting yakjudv image; probably someone has it and can share it with you.
Same thing happend to me, in the end I flashed back to stock and relocked my bootloader contacted Negri Electronics and rma'd mine. I'm stuck using my old Dell Streak now while my baby is in the shop. Really sucks especially with AT&T doing all their throtling and such now I was worried that i'd get throtled because I couldnt use my wifi. Good luck to you man.

[Q[ Docomo Gnex Sim Lock

does anyone know how to check if the docomo is temp unlocked or factory? cuz the guy i am buying a gnex from tonight has never flashed any roms and i hear most docomo are temp unlocked. so i dont wanna flash a rom or wipe data and see that my phone is unusable
i guess if no one know then i will just have to wipe data and see if sim is locked or not :fingers-crossed:

I have the ntt docomo pentaband and it is a factory unlock... Works great. I think it is the same phone you can buy off the play store.
i think that the worst that can happen to you after flashing, is that your phone get sim locked.
in that case all you have to do is user de **** Docomo app again, and permanent unlock it with V.3.1
I had mine unlock, and after a rom change i lost it, then i use the docomo app to temp unlock it... then after other flash, i lost it again, and by then the app was in the V. 3.1 and with that i could unlock it permanently... and since then, no problems.
hope it helps!

it really depend on luck whether you get a factory unlocked or temp unlocked..cuz the docomo version are locked to a japanese carrier and they arent the ones that are sold on play store..those are the yakju build

yes i know about the app..i was just wondering if it was possible to check without flash a rom or wiping data but i guess its not. so you have no problems with that app? and you were able to flash jb? cuz the app doesnt support jb yet
well... i permanent unlock my phone on ICS, before JB release... so iunno about if it will work on JB.
But... in that case, waht you can do, is flash an ICS Rom, unlock the phone with the app, and then flash a JB Rom.
Coz i donĀ“t think there a way to check if the unlock is temp or permanent without flashing something.

Flash new ROM to unlocked phone

Good Day
Sorry if this question was asked before, I am not clear about flashing new ROM.
I have a locked GN3 from tmobile, I bought unlocked code from eBay and my phone now working perfect with international career.
If I flash new ROM 4.3 or 4.4, will it be locked again? if tmobile release new update KitKat 4.4, should I update? re locked?
Thanks
Flashing any rom will not lock ur bootloader. Once u unlocked ur boot loader, unless u lock it back. It will not be locked by flashing roms etc

OP...I used Chainfire's RegionLock Away App on my rooted T-Mobile Note 3 and had to Odin back to stock for some troubleshooting and it was still sim unlocked. Once you sim unlock it once you should be good to go from there on out.

He's not talking about his bootloader, he's talking about the phone being sim locked to T-Mobile's network.

Thanks again.

I Guess, I Have A Problem With My Firmware.

First place, i unlocked the bootloader. I don't know if was unlocked cause is not mine and the guy told me that he bought it unlocked for carriers. Well, after the "unlock" the phone lasted a lot for booting up. Well, i installed a based cwm recovery and flashed SuperSu for rooting the phone.
After that, i tried to this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54537621 I went to do a reset and with the data partition it shows "Error" so it can't format it. I installed the rom, but it's the same, the phone doesn't pass from bootanimation. Any ideas?

Did you use the CM11 CWM?
Cause you need to use CM11 kernel to flash CM11 ROM, and not from 4.3 kernel

Hmmm... I think I had the same experience as you. First thing: ALMOST every phone you will buy will have a locked bootloader, while being able to unlock it is more of a 50/50 thing. Second thing: I tried the method on sony's site to unlock bootloader, and that resulted in bootloop. Unlocked with flashtool and worked perfectly.
