Service Ticket from Samsung, Can you help me figure this out? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Original Problem:
INSTALLATION - CALL QUALITY (RX/TX) - POOR SIGNAL
Problem found:
IF/CHARGING PORT - DAMAGE FWT - NO PCS SERVICE - NO PCS SERVICE
Solution:
REPLACED COMPONENT - REPLACED LCD - REPLACED TOUCHPANEL - REPLACED PBA
Here's why I sent it back to Sammy: I couldn't get a signal bar from a sprint tower ANYWHERE. No Data at all. No 3g, 4g, and the signal bar had a zero with a line through it. Funny thing? Roam got me a signal bar off a sprint tower...Dropped the phone on the charging cable and I think it messed up the usb charging/data port because I moved the cable a little and it would connect or disconnect, but it worked using another cable, no problems. Data Transfer/Charge etc. LCD screen and touchpad were EXCELLENT...So what's with all this stuff they did? I mean I am grateful, didn't cost me a dime (under warranty) but what's it all mean? BTW Sammy is the BEST! Even paid shipping there and back!

Original Problem:
INSTALLATION - CALL QUALITY (RX/TX) - POOR SIGNAL
********This is what you told them.
Problem found:
IF/CHARGING PORT - DAMAGE FWT - NO PCS SERVICE - NO PCS SERVICE
********after testing they concluded you cannot get signal just like you said. Also your charging port was malfunctioning.
Solution:
REPLACED COMPONENT - REPLACED LCD - REPLACED TOUCHPANEL - REPLACED PBA
*********some component was changed. Unknow without specs. Lcd and digitizer was replaced. The bottom buttons portion was replaced. Also your mainboard was replaced.
Next time you dont know I encourage you to search. You can use google. I find it much more reliable than the xda search function.

Patrao_n,Thank you so much! Trust me, I did Google the hell out of it and even got some basketball game called PBA...lol But NOTHING as definitive as you just gave me here. I still don't know why the LCD and Digitizer and touchpanel was replaced? Hmmm. I can see the charging point, but all that other stuff? WOW... Those guys are thorough...My gratitude to you..

No problem

Also they could have broken a ribbon cable or something on the screen and touchpanel while servicing. Which would explain why it was replaced.

What does this mean?

[Q] PCB replacement Q (Damaged Flex Cable)

Hey There,
I am attempting to try and fix my phone because it has multiple problems associated with it such as a nonfunctional power button, a faulty in-call speaker, and blind spots within the digitizer that are unresponsive.
My guess is that the prior owner dropped the phone and some damage was sustained to the flex cable/pcb which runs to all of these things causing the phone to have some broken connections here and there.
I plan to use a teardown/repair guide to use this, BUT!
Does anyone know what else might be the problem, and where can I find a replace flex cable/pcb and how much do they usually go for?
I live in Canada...
Appreciate it.
You can get them off ebay for ~50 USD. ebay item number 260744426322. It's from China and will take forever but that's about it. Sounds like a flex cable though, hopefully it doesn't need a new digitizer too.

Flex Cable change gives errors PLEASE HELP

Hi dear developers!
I got a Touch Pro 2 from a friend, it's a GSM device he bought in Germany (O2). I changed a few parts but messed the main flex cable. The part from the power button is not connected anymore, a clean cut through, no repairs possible as far i think. So i bought a new one over ebay from Hong Kong. The seller told me it's for a GSM device BUT the cables do not look the same. The production date is 2008 and the damaged one was produced 2009. I built everything together and now the big surprise:
Phone boots normally but when the Home screen appears, it is always in landscape mode. No matter if the phone is closed or the keyboard open. I can only change the screen over advanced tools, but after soft reset again only landscape mode. The buttons for calling also do not work (those two down on the screen when you want to call someone or end a call ---> no reaction).
A hard reset and new ROM (energy) didn't change anything. By the way, the keyboard only fires up after pressing a button. Before it automatically lightened up after sliding.
What the hell is wrong now, did the send me a CDMA cable? Where is the difference ? Please help me i do not want to spent another 30 bucks again for a proper flex cable.
Edit: I disassembled the phone again and took a closer look on the flex cable: the lower part (with the LCD connection etc) looks quite same except for 3 or 4 transistors and their position on the PCB. The upper part with the earpice looks way different. The positioning of the single parts is not the same. But how can that interfere ? Guess there is no problem with the mainboard or the LCD (which is brand new).

OK, i solved the problem. The guy who sold the flex cable sent me a older one as I described. This thing was fully responsible for the errors. Bought a new one and everything works fine now^^ So if you ever want to change your Flex cable take good care which one you buy (especially on ebay!)
Btw: The display and the digitizer are glued and IF you want to replace any of those two, do yourself the favor and buy the complete bundle !!! I made the mistake and tried to replace the digitizer and cracked the display. There is no way as far as I can say, that you can manage this.
Bye
Can u post the seller info? Im in the same situation w a different phone... Thanks

Hello my friend,i think its has to do with NFC operation,or the wireless charging, its not important
Not important be damned...tech broke it he fixes it...period.
If he refuses, report him to his boss (if he has one) and whatever passes for Trading Standards wherever you hail from.
Name and shame.
That's not on.

[Q] Identify this motherboard component

I believe the component identified by the arrow in the attached picture is an inductor (high Q, multilayer chip inductor?), but I need specifications sufficient to allow me to find a replacement. I damaged this component with a solder splatter while replacing the USB port. There is virtually no CDMA/LTE signal reception without it.
Even if a schematic can be found out there on the interwebs (I haven't found one, though), would it help me identify it? Any leads? Thanks folks.

[Q] Intermittent Cell Signal after replacing SGH-i317 NOTE 2 charging port connector.

Hello Everyone,
I have a SGH-i317 NOTE 2 and am experiencing lost cell phone signals after replacing the charging port connector.
Does anyone know how the charging port connector is related to cell phone signal strength?
After replacing this part getting a signal indoors is next to impossible and only weak signal from outdoor.
attached a pic of the part I replaced. And, yes, the part was bought from China. I did a lot of research and could only find this replacement part from China and, therefore, bought three separate charging ports from three separate suppliers in China, and all of the parts perform exactly the same. After installing, the signal is weak or intermittent.
Am I going to have to take my phone to a service center and have them use one of their parts?
or simply buy a USB socket and pull out the soldering iron and replace the individual components myself.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
M
Interestingly, I have the exact same issue. Replaced the charging port, now i get intermittent signal issues.
Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one having these signal issues. If you happen to discover a better solution let me know, I'd appreciate it. I found another supplier in the US www.mobiledefenders.com but after speaking with them over the phone they also get all of their parts from China. I ask if they do any in house testing to determine if the parts were indeed working as expected, but they do not. My guess is that all of these parts are probably being made in some sweat shop by improperly trained people using poor quality materials. I would bet that if you compared the original charging port against the replacement part under a microscope you'd discover vastly different raw materials being used...IMHO.
Hi - I am with Mobile Defenders so I think I can help you with your questions here. There are different compatibility versions for each charging port that need to be matched exactly for optimal signal strength. look for "v.4.1.1" or something similar on the top of the charging port and make sure the original matches the replacement. All parts are manufactured in China. Mobile Defenders and other suppliers in the US all buy their parts from China because that's where they are originally manufactured from (ie: Foxconn in Shenzhen, China). Feel free to compare our parts under a microscope and notice the workmanship will be identical to the original part. The only difference that is a known cause of signal strength loss is the version compatibility.
