Reverting to stock issue - HTC One X

Hey ,I have been around the forum and not only for trying to find a way to get back to stock. What I did was I used my Nandroids boot.img and recovery.img and the phone started normally on 4.1.1 as it was when I backed it up. But when I downloaded OTA and tried to install I had the internalstorage issue ,I tried extracting it manually from Downloads app and at it stucks with the note that "This file is corrupted". I then installed another recovery named -endeavoru.recovery.signed.img and when I try to get into recovery a red exlamation mark appears .And checking for software updated says that I am running newest version of android.. Help will be much appreciated
Thanks
Dan

You can try downloading latest ruu and extracting boot.img and system.img from there, here's the instructions https: //sites.google.com/site/ androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-ruu (remove spaces)
You have to flash them with fastboot

Full stock!
But within the boot loader you will always see the Information "RELOCKED"
Currently it is not possible to remove this because there would be S-OFF required.

Do not listen to this guy, wrong guide. This will soft brick your phone (stuck at bootloop). After flashing rom.zip you have to flash unlocktocken in order to flash recovery and wipe cache and factory reset. AND DO NOT flash CWM or TWRP recovery as they will soft brick your phone giving you error while reverting system while restoring nandroid backup, instead flash the recovery located in the nandroid back up!

stuck " HTC LOGO "

hey, so my device where stuck on pull the ring thng
so i thought it's a softwere prob, i upgrade my hboot to 1.31 so i could install the JB
i found there is no RUU fore my HTC_J15 !!
and i can't go back to ICS .. i unlock the boot so i can try some roms
same prob, any slu?
Why can't you go back to ICS or install a custom Sense ROM?
flash the boot.img and the ROM. Easy.
I have an idea to get you back to stock, from there you can update official. Its not the ruu method. I will explain later
I need your main version and cid number
Fastboot oem readcid
and
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post these results
Pyschic prediction:
2.17.401
HTC__J15
If that is so, you need to fine the matching nandroid backup in the nandroid backup collection thread in the general section
Restore it and flash back the stock recovery .... After this you can update official when the update is available. Then you are on a complete stock rom
CID: HTC_J15
Versoin mine: 3..14.401.619
it should be 415 right ? :0
i can't wait for the official RUU ! plz it's not my device i was acting smart and it's turn that i'm the dumbest ever
Well you can not use the European 3.14.401 ruu because that CID has been pulled off from the RUU but i don't know why !
and there is no matching nandroid backup in the nandroid backup thread in the general section. I already looked there.
I think you have a serious problem here ...
But......when you installed a different rom, did you make sure you wiped everything that you could wipe in the recovery (cache, dalvik cache, system, data) ?
It seems to me that you didn't do a full wipe, or you didn't flash the boot.img from the rom in fastboot usb mode ?
Download this file
http://db.tt/eLoVUcRc
Copy it to the phones sdcard, first you flash the boot.img in fastboot usb mode then you enter the recovery and do a factory reset, then you flash the file i gave you (just like a rom, it will wipe all) then you flash the rom !
Should be oke after that !
i did a cache wipe from the fastboot command .. i can't get into recovery it show a red triangle i try to re-lock and unlock it again root and install the clockmode and still with this prob .. so i try to flash a lot of boot.img file from some rom but nothing happen
it was working fine with full access to recovery mod till i flash a boot.img so i can install a room, there my problem start
i think there is no solution for my stupid mistake but if there any i'll be like, thank uuuuu
Well check all this .... Bootloader unlocked, if not unlock it and flash a custom recovery
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Download this one and rename it to recovery.img and copy it in the fastboot folder, put the phone in fastboot usb mode and flash the recovery
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then you flash the boot.img of the rom you downloaded (its inside the rom.zip)
Copy the boot.img file also to the fastboot folder and flash it
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then you enter the recovery and do a full wipe including wiping the dalvik cache under the tab ADVANCED !
Then you install the rom.zip
okay i'll try this tomorrow, again step by step so i make sure i didn't miss anything
thank u .. i really want to try it know but it's 2a.m and i have a morning work
thank u again .. i'll update u with wut happen with me .
Good ! And charge the battery to a 100% before you start ! Can save you alot of trouble !
hey .. okay i start from da beging and so far every thing is good, i can access to the clockworkmod
now that i can't get inside the phone how can i flash the room ? it's the only step i miss

You can flash the rom by pressing flash zip from sdcard (or something similar, can't recall at the moment) and select the rom.zip
And you can copy the rom.zip to the phones sdcard by mounting it as usb disk under the tab mounts & storage
hey, ya now the device finally work .. thanks god, and thank u
but the same problem, three soft button not working !
i did the hole thing 5 days trying for nothing ? damn it :crying:
so it's a hardware problem right ?
I guess that's a hardware failure yes, of it happens on every rom

[Q] Flashing process

I need this clear in my head, cos I am going around in circles trying to get a ROM working on my HOX.
I have an unlocked HOX and I use a MAC.
My understanding of what I need to do to get a custom ROM working is as follows (please correct me if/where I go wrong):
Phone needs to be unlocked: YES, DONE.
Preferred ROM downloaded from chosen XDA link: YES, DONE.
Boot.img file from said ROM also obtained: YES, DONE.
Via fastboot, I need to firstly flash the recovery (This, I can do. I'm using ClockworkMod 5.8.4.0)
I know that I then need to flash the downloaded 'Boot.img' (I don't know if it needs to be located on the SDCard first, or straight from the Mac).
Looks like I now need to flash empty the cache (Again, this I can do).
Then I know that I need to boot into recovery.
Copy ROM.zip over onto the SDCard.
Mount the SDCard and select 'install zip from sdcard' then select the ROM.zip.
Reboot system now.
ROM should work.
So, why am I getting stuck on the ROM's boot up splash screen
You need to flash the boot.img from the fastboot folder on the mac
Its the same as flashing the recovery
But replace :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img with
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
And don't forget to make a full wipe in the recovery before installing the new rom

and then tried to install custom ROM
from that time I am not able to run the phone, only bootloader and any recovery (except stock recovery - this shows me just red triangle)
I tried more recoveries here from forum

No RUU available for your device, I can't even find a nandroid backup for your device.. strange...
If you want to flash a custom rom you will first need to download that rom and put it in your sdcard using custom recovery>mounts and storage>Mount usb.
After than flash the boot.img from zip with fastboot and then fastboot erase cache.
Go back to recovery, wipe data/cache/dalvic and format system. Flash the rom.zip and also the gapps.zip if required and then reboot!
If you want to restore the nandroid backup which you had taken (from the 1st post)... Here are the steps:
flash boot.img which will be found in /clockworkmod/backup/xxxxx/ via fastboot and then wipe everything and finally restore backup!

[Q] No compatible RUU, phone possibly soft bricked. Help?

I have an international One x, I don't know what I did wrong but my phone never gets past the ROM's logo screen. I've tried flashing about 6 different ROMs that all worked before but the boot.img file never flashes. When I type the command in fastboot, it says it flashed successfully on the pc but the phone just shuts down. When I open it again, it doesn't boot. I also tried restoring to a stock nandroid backup (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1975140 ) and. I tried restoring to a backup I'd made a month ago but neither worked.
I tried looking for a RUU to run but none worked or are compatible because I can't find one higher than 3.16 and I have S-ON so can't flash anything below that. I looked on the internet in general and here http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Endeavor
Info about the phone:
It's S-ON with an unlocked bootloader
hboot 1.39.0000
CID HTC__J15
Software version 3.16.415.4
radio-5.1204.162.29
Posting here is a last resort, I've tried everything I can think of over the past 3 weeks and I don't know what to do

Wow what a poem first thing as you may know, flashing the boot.img is a really important step to do if you want your rom to work... I see that you can't do it but i have just a question, does your phone shuts down immediately after you type the command or at the end of the flashing process?

Hi Hadya!
I guess you should start from scratch. U will lost all data on your device but after all it is working again.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
1. Make sure your device is fully charged for this. Otherwise it will be a big stress to get it back to work.
2. Copy all data from the SDCard away because you will loose EVERYTHING!!!
3. You need your unlock_token.bin to unlock your device again. If you don't have it available please request this from the HTC web site.
Now, let's recover your device...
1. Download this file and extract it.
http://ul.to/j4j1cpft
2. Enter fastboot
Press POWER & VOLUME DOWN KEY and enter the bootloader
3. Connect your device to PC for the 1st Recover
Test if your device is available via fastboot and use this command:
fastboot devices
You should see your device with Serial number
Now lock your device back with command:
fastboot oem lock
You will see a short message and your bootloader is locked. You should see the message on top of the bootloader with RELOCKED.
That's fine.
Now start the ARUWIZARD from the downloade ZIP file and flash your device as you know it.
There is a ROM file inside which is same as your current hboot. This flash procedure will allign your partitions on the device and it might be that you will loose all SDCard files. I'm pretty sure that you will loose it.
The ROM contains only hboot, recovery and boot Images but it will "RECOVER" your device.
4. Unlock your device
After this procedure you are ready to unlock your device again. Enter fastboot and flash your unlock token again.
fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_token.bin
After the device is unlocked flash boot and recovery image of your choice within this way:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase Cache
After this you have a half running device.
5. Second Recover Step
Now you need to do a final repair for the device. For this you need to download Android Revolution HD 31.x ROM.
1. Put this ROM on your SDCard
2. Enter recovery and flash this ROM
3. Flash the boot.img to your device
4. Start your device and ignore the 1st Setup steps.
5. Now go to:
SETTINGS > Backup & reset > Reset phone (touch this)
6. On the next page scroll down to the bottom and select:
"Erase Music, Picture... on the storage"
7. Press "OK" and wait
When the phone is back again device is fully recovered. The SDCard is reformated and all partitons are back again.
Now you can do everything you want with your device again.
Best regards!

Hmmm... this seems to be a tricky thing.
Try this:
1. Copy the rom.zip into the same Folder where your fastboot.exe is located
2. Enter bootloader and go to fastboot.
3. Flash the file with this command:
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
4. Enter the original recovery
5. When you see the red triangle than do a short press on the power button and vol up and you will see the menue as same as you know it from the CWM Recovery
6. Wipe Cache
7. Wipe data/factory
8. unlock the bootloader
9. Flash the rom.img from AHD Image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
10. Flash CWM recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
11. enter Recovery and Mount USB
12. Copy the AHD ROM to your device & flash it
13. Boot the ROM, wait up to 10 minutes bevore you use it & ignore the setup
14. Within the Phone enter Settings and do a FACTORY RESET

URGENT TWRP switch back to stock recovery after reboot

I used this https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus3/twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3.img.html recovery to flash but after reboot to system and then to recovery it shows the stock recovery. Any help ?
That's quite normal. If you flash a stock rom without reinstalling twrp before rebooting system, you will lose twrp because stock rom will install stock recovery too . So, you have to install TWRP from adb by Fastboot again.

Honestly its not that urgent to be honest before you flashed the stock rom you should of read up on what was going to happen. Being knowledgeable about what you are doing is your biggest asset. Also its not that big of a deal reflash TWRP as mentioned and going forward do some reading before making moves
Also make sure the right stuff is checked off in your settings so that the stock recovery does not come back
if u can still boot into ur OS just download flashify and flash twrp via flashify, u can download twrp via flashify too
this is normal it happens from time to time

did you follow these steps or did you just reboot directly into the OS
2. Flashing TWRP
Turn the phone off. Then boot it into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power.
Rename the recovery file that you downloaded above to recovery.img. *Make sure that you rename it to recovery.img NOT recovery.img.img* ,Make sure that this file is placed on the desktop.
Open a new command prompt on desktop and run the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once the flash has completed, Don't use the "Fastboot Reboot" Command Instead Unplug Your phone then Manually boot it into recovery by keeping Power + Volume Down button pressed.
In TWRP, select Reboot and then select System. Now your phone will boot into System and you have cleared Steps 2/3 . Grats.
