Hey guys,
I have an Xperia ZL C6506 from Bell Aliant,
I recently tried upgrading my phone to .244, but it failed every time. I tried to restore the soft key's size because they were stunk to try to see it that worked, but I got a bootloop.
So I flashed it manually with Sony Update Service, and it worked, but I noticed when I was at a pizza shop, my mobile data didn't work.
However, I'm still able to get calls, and text messages like normal, and use my Wi-Fi.
Any ideas?

When I do this, I don't get any type of notification of it downloading, I just get a small amount of Wi-Fi usage.

Take a look at settings> wireless and networks> more> Mobile networks> access point names...
Is there anything there relative to your supplier?

Why does my phone think it's being tethered? My Arc S is rooted on .42 Gingerbread firmware, stock UK ROM, deleted a few files/apps, and those are about the only changes I've made.
But recently when I use the 3G on my phone (not wireless, but data) after a while it diverts to my service carrier's page about tethering and how it is not allowed on my plan (which is true).
I phoned up my carrier thinking it must be a problem on their end, the guy told me it to try my simcard in another phone and see if the same thing happens- It didn't, I was able to browse with no problems at all. Put the sim back into my Arc S, and after about 30 seconds of browsing I get diverted again. He told me it may be a problem with my phone and I should factory reset.
Obviously I don't want to do that as I will lose root plus ROM plus all my customisation (Supercharger, Go Launcher etc) so what could be causing the problem? I've been using it fine for a long time and then this happens....

If it was a problem with the firmware wouldnt the problem have appeared straight away, rather than after a few weeks?

Check your Carrier internet settings. APN, IP.
There are something you can do. Some gives you auto config when you text them with some code. Try googling your carrier 3g hsdpa internet settings.

You can find them under

Hello I'm a new Sony Xperia Ion LT28H user. My sim is sun cellular and its GPRS can't be activated. What are the settings and what should I do to be able to use internet on my phone. Please help me. Thanks!
You need to configure your carrier's apn settings to enable data.
Sent from my LT28h using xda app-developers app
thanks, but how?
I think its settings/xperia/
Btw, gprs is not mobile internet, its for ur location.
Settings>more(after data usage)>mobile networks>access point names. You need your carrier's settings though. Google them. Afterwards save the apn and tick enable data.

I think you're thinking GPS. GPRS is normally associated with 2G or 3G which doesn't use HSPA.

You're talking about gps Gprs is an old internet service LT28h uses HSPA+ or LTE
First of all confirm from ur carrier that gprs is activated or not, if yes then go to settings - xperia - Internet setting, it will automatically download the settings

I went to a Sun Cellular service center and they said their system is offline and it seems they are having problems. By the way when u said LT28h uses HSPA, does that mean that other procedures should be done to enable its mobile internet? Does it need a software to be installed?

Apps like opera, dolphin, and other browsers works fine... Play store, palringo and other chat apps says network connection error.... They seem to only recognise the first sim network connection.... But now since I'm unable to connect Internet through first sim it's sort of impossible to connect to those apps.... And u use Vodafone but it's not that because u tried with idea and bsnl too
And I don't understand why network auto disables after seconds of connection..... Should I try unrooting the phone??
Is your csc matched to your region? Sometimes there csc settings that are region specific and one of them is the modem settings.

Does juice defender has permission blocking for other
This works like firewall revoking or not allowing certain permissions todo what they say like improving battery backup , performance bla bla bla
I don't use any battery improver app cause what they say they do we can do better + they eat battery keep running in background
If you follow some simple steps like set wifi setting to turn of when no data is being transmitted
Setting network schedule for nightmode so it will go offline if cell is not used for 30m in night & will work as usual for day there are many grab/google them

In 4.2.2 there is option but you need to toggle every now and then or apps like power schedule ,schemes
They do it better way
I mostly use inbuilt option as long as possible rather using apps

Hey guys, i got a question about the Wifi tethering on the Xperia S.
is it possible to show the connected devices via an app or with the system himself, when i have Wifi tethering on? i don't want to look everytime in the dnsmasq.leases file or what it calls.
Just password protect it with wpa2 and you should be more then secure

Good question.
WiFi is seen as off when WiFi tethering is enabled, so applications like Fing and WiFi Analyzer just see the WiFi interface as down.
You have to have 'conventional' WiFi disabled and WiFi thethering enabled, so this would only be a short term config under a controlled environment in most cases.
It's true WPA2 and a password does provide good basic security, but....
I have an old XPERIA X10i with a 64GB mircroSD card which could make a short to long term mobile NAS and in such an environment where many people are using your hotspot "NAS" for documents, music and/or videos access/streaming, knowing if someone is using it before disabling the service may be helpful.
So, I too, would be interested if there is an app that sees the tethered interface and the network connections using it.
I have done little reaserch and came up with this.

try it

Interesting. How did you enable and view the tethered interface when Fing only monitors wlan0?
I didnt, i only search on google. Some guys were report they use this app for that action
I actually saw it on the Galaxy S3 which has tethering enabled and shows the connected devices. so i think it can be done if we port the tethering app from the galaxy s3 to the XS. after that it should work.. maybe.. =D
btw. i tested the app and it didn't work.. :/
Just curious, can you instal that app on second phone and conect to host, can you then look which devices are conected to it?
