I recently had an issue regarding the proximity sensor on my DHD and I tried many different ROMs and calibration apps but none of them worked. Seems like the problem is the dirt that blocks the way of the sensor. I cleaned the grill from the dirt and everything is now OK. Hope I helped someone.

Hi have you tested the proximity calibrator app?
Setup of proximity sensor isnt the main goal of roms...
Look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951858
Set values, test it if the sensor shows "near" or "far" or adjust it more.
My DHD needs LOW = 2; HIGH = 3; and it works...
oh , and in Cyanogenmod 11 by mustaavalkosta, its already installed i think.

Yep spot on. CM11 comes with it.
Low 3 and High 5 works best for me.

I think you missed the point. The entire idea of his post was to let you know that his issue was dirt in front of the sensor.

That's what I had to do in the end as well. Remember that these phones first came out in Oct. 2010 (when I got mine ....!!) so plenty of time for dirt to build up. Check the Proximity Sensor thread for links on disassembly but I followed this site ... http://www.beardeddonkey.com/home/comments.php?y=12&m=04&entry=entry120428-040327 ... to take mine apart. Not all of it, just far enough to clean out the PS. All good after that.
thanks for the tip
i need clean my sensor
thanks man !! been modifying thresholds using Proximity Recalibrator forever with no avail ... i don't know how i forgot about cleaning the sensors :silly: :silly: you made my day !! thank you a bunch !!!!
That easy..?

Hi guys I have a problem with gio's accelerometer, i found out about this in a game: by entering *#0*# and going to sensor I noticed: while the phone is lying down still on a level surface with no vibrations accelerometer data is changing and it never stops. It is not important in normal use but in some apps and games this is realy a problem.
So any solution?
ok ...removed.!!!
Try to go Settings->Display->Horizontal calibration
Or try to change the ingame titl sensivity
On my phone accelerometer data also chanching but really a little bit.

Demanding much?
You come on a volunteer, community-based forum and complain because you haven't been answered within two days?
What troubleshooting and testing have you done?
Is it on all axis?
Does toggling the different radio have an effect?
There could very well be issues with your Gio alone.
This could also be a problem with a driver for which we don't have a source to look at.

sorry to say that,I had a bad day.
well yes. I tried anything and it is the same.
I wonder if this is because of hardware.
even in htc hero accelerometer works better than this.
Hi, i'm having this screen turn off while calling n doesn't on constantly even if I try to turn on using power switch.. n for some days it worked like screen turns off when I keep close to ear n turns on automatically when moved away, I can understand due to proximity sensor. But y now it isn't working? Is thr any settings?
Cool....)
Do you have a case or screen protector blocking the sensor? If not, the sensor might be broken.

Is the light sensor present and disabled or is it totally absent?
R: Light sensor?
Use q & a thread..please..
Please search before you create new threads! Something like this has already been discussed before!
Yes? I've searched in general section and I haven't found any answer. So is it totaly absent?

To be precise: We have and we have not Ambient Light Sensor. [...] From hardware perspective TMD 2672 can act like proximity sensor and ALS, but not at the same time. From software perspective it is proximity sensor. Ambient Light Sensor is much simpler to be made due fact, it does not need IR diode and Prox control/integration block.
ADC and Data block are the same for both of them.

I have a problem with a camera rotation. Basically, when I open the camera to take a picture, the icon is either at the top or the bottom of the camera, then when I take a picture, it is always upside down. So, to get a picture that is not rotated 180 degrees, I have to turn my phone updside down.
Any idea how to fix this? I have flashed multiple roms and nothing seems to fix this. I do a wipe, infamous wipes, etc...
Can i totally rebuild the camera apk?
I have tried the "rotation fixer" on the t989 forum but no luck.
see screnshot. I took this picture in portrait mode.
have you tried to calibrate your proximity sensor?
How?

Have you checked in the Jedi tricks settings or accessibility... can you do me a favor and download proximity test any one will work and this will rule out if it's the sensor don't worry we will figure it out

nothing in jedi tricks settings or accessibility... i downloaded proximity sensor finder. It says proximity sensor available. Last distance reported 5.0 cm. If i put my hand over the sensor, it does detect that i am covering it up.

every time I flash a rom, i do a full wipe from twrp. I also run infamous cache and super cache wipe.
Well if nothing is fixing your issue the only thing I can recommend now is to either go back to Odin and start from scratch.then flash 8 again if you dont feel the need for all that just try and deal with it brother you could also try flashing with cwm maybe that will help sorry I couldn't help you further man good luck to you please post if you find a solution you can help others later

KJ, mr thanks patrol... Thank you for point it out. I Didn't know the thanks meter was important there... Maybe I should spend alittle more time on the forum so I can get up on the proper thanking etiquette. But you made a "point"
So my mother is looking into a new phone because her gyroscopic sensor doesn't work. I couldn't really find anything to help with it, but I plan on trying everything I can before she does. This includes flashing back to the stock version that had gyroscopic calibration, replacing the motherboard (where I think the sensor is located), etc. My question in case it gets down to it: on which part is the sensor located?

Try GPS Status, it has a means to calibrate (pitch and roll) that might fix the issue: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
