[Q] HTX One X Plus Update Issue - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hi all, appologies if this is the wrong area for this question but i hope somone can help me out here.
I have the one x plus, great phone and was i really happy with jelly bean 4.1.1 (factory shipped version 2012 i beleive)
Anyway, i got the nudge for the 4.2.2 update today and thought nothing of it, i usually reasearch updates before hand but as the description only stated "improvements" and additional features to the phone i though why not...?
Well i regret doing so now, i just dont like the look or feel of it and the messaging colour schemes are nasty and no unlock pull ring......??????
Needless to say i want to revert back but the web is giving mixed info.
Can anyone tell me if its possible, i know i need to root my phone, i have done similar things to a galaxy but what im having difficulty with is actually finding the original 4.1.1 ROM for the HTX ONE X Plus.
I have the UK/EU version of the phone and could really do with a link for the FW.
If it helps my phones details are:
Software number: x.xx.401.2
CID: HTC_001
Thanks in advance guys.
Matt.

You'll have better luck posting in the appropriate forum: HTC One X+.
I like to bookmark the top-level page for each device I'm actively using/working on, so I don't have to get lost and wind up in the wrong place.

[Q] HTC Speak

Hi guys I dont have a One X but I've been following it very closeley since the Endevour leak. One really cool thing that caught my eye then was the HTC Speak as some type of Siri rival but I haven't noticed anything new on it since and no mention of it after it's release.
I was just wondering, do your guys One X's even come shipped with it, or has anyone tried installing it from the One X leak?
If not then my guess is that it was probably never anything and most likely an bit of marketing on HTC half of stirring up some trouble wth a possible Siri rival!
------------------
Sorry, wrong thread - could a mod please move it to the Q/A section. Sorry!
is there more help for this. on leedroid rom he has speak anyone know what it does is it just google voice search or is it siri
It hasn't shipped with it and it isn't available in the market, so I'm guessing... no!

Jelly Bean (JB) for the HOX - OTA/Information/Update/ETAs/etc

To somewhat control the the masses of Jelly bean threads that are currently arising, I made this thread to collect all talk about it.
Anything related to JB belongs in this thread. We don't want hundreds of threads with the same information, so please use this thread instead.
Yes I know I fooled you with the title, but I somehow need to get your attention
Any other JB threads will be closed to keep this froum clean.
Thanks
So here we have it, the galaxy nexus on JB. Incredibly smooth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN3EXAFRxKQ , head over to the mini galaxy s 3 and the galaxy nexus comparison that begins at 3:50, you'll see how smooth the Nexus seems to be in comparison to the S3
I've got a question:
We all know the Sense itself is a bit of a power hog, not only the battery, but the interface as well. With all the changes implemented or the possibilities given to the developers with the introduction of Jelly Bean, is it in theory possible that we have an HTC Sense UI running as buttery smooth as the Galaxy Nexus's UI? Or are we all being hyped for nothing?
Even the browser experience on the Galaxy Nexus seems bad ass! If i recall correctly in the video i linked you to, zooms in and out of webpages without even the slightest bit of lag while the phone is loading. Not to mention scrolling on the page, simply incredible. This is something though that should be easily achievable on the One X. I'm just interested in the Sense UI atmm. It is beautiful but at the same time the stuttering gets on my nerves.
So, is the jelly bean RUU out yet for my phone? I really want it and hate that HTC take so long to get updates to us I mean this is the bestest phone in the whole world but HTC really suck by not making it as good as it could or should be in my dreams with the fast updates and the s-off with unlocked bootloader and exquisite camera that compresses too much but the phone is really awesome so can you tell me when the udpate will be on my phone????
just jokes guys/gals,
Thanks to the OP for starting this. As a member on several other forums I cannot believe the amount of crap that gets posted on the one subject but in 74,365 different threads
Even amongst XDA, (must admit I have limited myself to a few specific devices and not strayed too far), I am completely amazed at the people who refuse to search before posting or just blurt out any new thread when it comes to this particular phone. Just take a look at the s-off debacle FFS
Back on topic, I'm actually looking forward to the release of jelly bean for the HOX, fingers crossed we have been able to achieve s-off by then too

I hope it gives us the buttery smooth experience on Sense that we are all believing in and not just a flop.
Haha! If that's indeed the case, than iphone has every reason to continue suing. Cause if anything ever set the iphone and android apart then it was smoothness Vs more possibilities (decent smoothness)
but it will turn out to be smoothness vs smoothness and more possibilies = Fatality.

I was allready thinking on how to drop myself out of the window... This becomes such a standard sadly :/
Maybe XDA should do like on other techi forums, you can't access certain area's without having answered a few tech-based question... This would reduce the amount of "noobs which will never even try to learn/understand something...
Back to topic.
The biggest problem is, that if you see the topic allready has 300+ pages you won't read them all in the hope to find an answer, which may be outdated, the only and best solution (and I'm hoping it will be the case here) would be to update the OP as often as possible with all available information and links
Jelly Bean PORTED to One X!!!!
Good news people....
Finally a good reason to root!!!! Waiting for the issues to be resolved...

I've just noticed that this has made the XDA portal. It's been up on quite a few websites today that I've noticed, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the writers who have helped spread the word. If you are one of them, you're awesome!
This is a port of Jellybean, based off of the roms for the two nexus devices that were released yesterday. I'm working to add in all of the key features at the moment, and it's going pretty well, so you can probably expect to see some kind of Alpha release fairly soon.
It's based off the porting work done for CM9 for our phone in the topic here, with some help from randomblame in the #cyanogenmod-dev channel. (Thanks!)
Known issues
Wifi
Audio
Camera
Probably more
Ironically, the issue we've been trying to resolve with CM9 for this phone, the rotation bug, appears to be fixed here. Not sure whether to laugh or cry

Update
I've started to port the Galaxy Nexus image instead. The new version is a lot more stable, and I guess I've had a bit of a change of heart with regards to updating. This version is more complete and comes with all of the updated gapps, which means we get all of the awesome stuff that was shown at IO.

I had this thought a while back.....
Sense is obviously HTC's standard in-house UI, but they also know that a lot of users would love to be able run the stock android UI.
Given the delay it take to integrate Sense with stock android. Wouldn't it be good of them to release a stock android version for those that would like to use it, whilst they are ironing out the integration issues.
That way if you want to use Jelly Bean sooner you can, or you can wait for the Sense overlay release.

They will never do this. Skinning android with Sense/TW/etc is their form of branding. They do have other options though: http://www.davejunia.com/2012/06/what-android-manufacturers-need-to-do/

That's actually a pretty good idea.... But then they get another excuse to delay the Sense release, which most of us don't care, but that will have all the kernel upgrades and what not, also they would never want to undermine the importance that they are putting on Sense as a marketing item... So let them do their bit of delayed development.... We can in the mean time, head to some ROM that already has the new 4.1 features like the one that I have posted above... If HTC releases something like this then people will start appreciating them rather than *****ing about performance issues as the stock ICS will be by default way smoother than SENSE...

The other benefit is the increase in user base.
IMO HTC phones, as far as build quality, are the best.
Android is often synonymous with the word choice. If HTC gave users the "choice" of being able to run the latest Android UI not long after the new Android UI is introduced, or to run Sense if that's what they prefer, surely they would increase Market Share/User Base.
New update coming soon to HOX? Including 3.1 kernel? New Android Jelly Bean? Dont you guys think that this sounds to good to be real (to be from HTC) :cyclops:
That's it. I've had it.
First HTC don't give me ICS with One X, their flagship device. And now, the delicious Jelly Bean comes out and I can't even use this. Wow, thanks HTC but I don't want to be stuck having Gingerbread all my life.
Going to sell off my One X and buy this Galaxy Nexus device. Seems to be the best phone on the market today, hands down.

Lol you should be super happy you have a system higher than you think you had.
Lolz. Before someone thinks I am trolling..
I was just being sarcastic (/s).
Sorry about that. Thanked everyone who replied.
I LOVE MY ONE X
PS - An actual icecream sandwich wouldn't be too bad. Gotta solve the melting issues though. Jellybean is easier.
Can I ask a dim question? Will branded handsets get Jellybean the same time as non-branded ones, or will we have to wait longer as it goes through network testing?

A little input please?

So I came over to AT&T the 10th and love it. Love my HOX(except the low storage space, which is moot if you have dropbox or other cloud storage I guess.) It is elegant and I actually love Sense on this thing coming from a Galaxy S2 with touchwiz. I find it refreshing and it is, for me, a combination of what I loved about my Nexus S 4G and what I loved about my Hero as far as design and such. So, I heard 2.20 is not rootable thus far. This phone came with 1.85 on it and it is prompting to update the software. So, I am curious if I should just go ahead and try to root now or just update and be patient and see what develops. I get confused with this phone's forum support because some threads are for the Tegra 3 only and some aren't. As of right now I am not even sure if the US version is capable of S-Off or not, I am intermittently doing searches and trying to find credible information as much as I can. Please understand that I am consistently busy with my child and other things in life at the moment so this isn't necessarily priority as it is for some of you and I mean that respectfully. Any information or advice is appreciated. I am an average user. I have had two rooted phones both being Samsung so HTC development/modification is new to me thus far since I never rooted my Hero. I don't plan to tether but I would like more options that require root such as aesthetic changes and other optimizations, and some battery life advantages. So my question is should I get in a hurry and root now with 1.85 or is development with 2.2 or further going to go quick enough that I could wait and see what kind of options come out of it?

1. Paragraphs.
2. This forum is more for the international or tegra 3 version, but your questions are general enough I think.
Your phone is new enough that I think you should run stock until you've formed a solid opinion of if you even like it.
An inherent danger of rooting then flashing a new Rom is that something may go wrong. If you're new to it, you may tank an otherwise perfectly functional device. Then you'd be miffed and posting threads about how awful the phone is.
If you look around there are several people that have done exactly that and blame HTC.
My advice is to really break it in for a few weeks. Enjoy having a warranty and if you REALLY just want to root for aesthetic changes, then read up before taking the risk.
Welcome Board and good luck.

You should look at the AT&T one x section. This is for the international tegra verison so roms are different. Id root your 1.85 version then get a custom rom on it. Neither device has S-Off at the moment.

HTC One X Jellybean Discussions Thread.

Hey peeps . Unless you didn't hear, our old JB Discussion thread was locked yesterday, due to...well, what else trolling, flaming, the works. This left a gap, however, in where we, normal users could just relax and discuss about the recent Jellybean Update. This thread will serve that purpose.

I think the best way to know if and who will give get the JB update is to go to this page:
https://start.htcsense.com/#device/onex
It will only show countries which have JB update, because this is the part of new Sense 4+ which comes only with JB update. It is prerequisite for JB update.
NOTE: when you visit the page it will redirect to:
https://start.htcsense.com/#countries
If you refresh the page after that you will get country list for HTC One X+ which is available globally and already comes with Sense 4+.
You have to enter the above url again to see list of countires for our One X.
Thanks . But lets not bring in countries or carriers who will or have yet to receive the update. Then we'd have a giant debate going on and on about why HTC sucks by delaying the update. Still, appreciate the effort :highfive:
My observation is that JB seems to charge up faster than ICS. Anyone else notice this ?

I have questions:
Is the Battery Percentage available in Statusbar in the final ROM (lets say 3.14.707.24)?
Can camera pictures be taken by pressing anywhere on screen?
My thought concerning the delay: As far as I read in forums, there is still an issue withe wakelock, reulsting in unnecessary battery drain. Maybe it has to be sorted out.
What is your guess, is 4.1 the next 2.3? I mean, you can't just step forward in versioning, there is somehow the need for adopted software development to have a somehow common base? I always see the need for compability updates in apps, when it comes to higher android versions, not only from 2.x to 4.x, but also in between 4.x .
I'm kind of annoyed of the steady changes in android versions, where no real innovation is taking place (especially considering 4.2 ...)

Ah well,
I was hoping for something earlier but Mark Moons wrote some weeks ago that Santa had a little JB gift, or something like that.
So, i'm 98 % sure it will arrive before x-mas in Holland.
Anything earlier would be a nice surprise.
I keep hearing about JB bugs in the released OTAs.
What bugs did you experience, and how bad are they?
I am already at peace with the idea that we may get JB in January.
Just curious to find out more about the november release.
Is it really off the mark by that much?

[Q] Best Custom Rom

Hello everyone,
I need some help with my phone. I have a Motorola RAZR MAXX (not HD). My carrier is Ntelos which is regional cell company in WV and Va. I have had this phone for about a year and a half. I am able to get a new phone in October. This one is starting to give me some fits so I think it is time to "tweak" it. I have put in a custom ROM before (Cyanogen - couple of years ago on older phone) so I am pretty sure I can handle it. I just need to know which one is best for my phone. I will put some of the phone specs below. Thanks

ANDROID VERSION

KERNAL VERSION

I hope this helps and that you can help me.

"Best ROM/Kernel" questions are not allowed (really tolerated) on this forum. If you're lucky someone will politely tell you to try them all & decide for yourself. Typical response trend toward being flamed. So, while you can, run for your phone's development forum & start researching ROMs.
Good luck.

"Best ROM/Kernel" questions are not allowed (really tolerated) on this forum. If you're lucky someone will politely tell you to try them all & decide for yourself. Typical response trend toward being flamed. So, while you can, run for your phone's development forum & start researching ROMs.
Good luck.

I've been researching for some time. Friend has same phone on nTelos. I will dare to ask here for help. Flame me if that is what happens in this thread...
BTW, I really just want to know if it is possible to flash / root the thing. If I get on that path I shoudl be able to find a suitable ROM.
TIA.

You really found nothing in phone's development forum that answered your question?
It may be the answer is it can't be done on xt908 on nTelos. That is what I saw. So I asked here.

Thanks
SYSTEM VERSION
6.16.300.XT908.ACG-nTelos.en.US
ANDROID VERSION
4.0.4
KERNAL VERSION
3.0.8-ga0b5673
met
I hope this helps and that you can help me.

Much appreciated. Thanx! I will go do research on that now that I have a direction. Sorry to all who feel I inappropriately used the thread.
