A2sd stands for app to sd and allows you to store apps onto your sdcard by tricking os into believeing that the sdext is part of the onboard memory.
The same as aop2sd to except instead of apps its a dalvik cache.
Both have merits but app2sd is more widely used on this device as it has such small internal memory.

What do you mean by "When it starts"?
Dalvik is on /data when you first boot the rom. Then when you do the "a2sd cachesd" command, that dalvik will at that point move.
Did you test it that way without restoring anything?
Sorry mate always on 65mb

Theres Rom data, settings etc always on data too. 65 seems extreme though

Low on space

I read that this phone suffers from the low on space warning. Is this like the Droid incredible memory problem?
This would suck because gameloft games cannot be moved to SD.

well some GL games can be moved at least.. and the setInstallLocation trick works a bunch..
What is that trick? I've never heard of it.

Move your dalvik cache, too. It frees up loads of space! The thread is in the dev section I think

dalvik cache to /cache? that isn't recommended in fw 2.3.4 as the /cache has been limited to 100MB from previous 250MB

Dalvik Cache does not have to be moved to /cache. With link2sd or apps2sd the DC can be moved to a secondary partition.

oh, i see.. secondary partition like what?
I've got like 80+ apps and have 800MB+ Left..and gameloft installs most of their games to the SD card..every gameloft game I have is on the SD card(2GB)..

On your SD Card. Link2sd is best Imo, unlike apps2sd you can use the Fat fs as your second partition
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
TS, link2sd is the answer if you're too worried about our internal memory.. Mine is set to auto link.. I just created a 2gb partition on my 16gb.. You're phone must be rooted to use this app..
oh, so i see it's like creating another partition in the SD just like the way we create partitions on a hard drive when installing Win7.. hmm, i'll give this a shot when i get my 32gb this month...

Limit for data2sd and link2sd

Hi all
This is a somewhat strange thing that I noticed. I want get opinion and solution from all whether its my own problem or not.
I used both link2sd and data2sd (both 2gb ext2 with 512 mb swap) but I can't get a storage of over 418 MB in both cases. And no more apps can be installed!!!!
What shall I do to rectify this?
Thanks in advance ...

I guess you are saying beyond that your internal memory gets full?
Here's what you can try.
>Install titanium backup, in options select integrate davlik cache into rom.
>Wipe the cache. (Noob but i know pshh..)
>Uninstall the stupid crap system apps.
>if you still are running low on storage, use this command, but it may create some problem for you when u are installin new apps like they will force close. You will have to reboot device to run them at first try.
"su" press enter. allow the superuser request.
"cache sd" enter. it will reboot. may take some 6-7 minutes to boot.
Sorry for off topic but can anyone share data2sd. With me I tried downloading from a thread but it was corrupt and I can't find it anywhere else.

Link2SD - Internal Memory still full

Hey guys,
I'm using Android 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1 (stock rom) and added Link2SD to my rooted phone some time ago. At first I was glad I had about 50mb of internal storage left after I moved all (!!!) linked every app to my SD-card. I don't know how, but the internal storage shrinked more and more and now I'm left with 10mb of free storage and that annoying message, that I'm running out of memory. I tried some cache cleaning apps but I just don't know what's eating up all of my memory!
Any ideas?
greetings
Link2sd leaves stuff in internal memory. My little wfs became a wonderful phone after I s-offed and rooted it, but then installed some custom roms, and some of which had A2SD built in. I installed all my apps and still had 75mb of free memory.
I am currently running CM9, and I used a custom script to move my apps and cache to my SD card. I have 123 MB of memory now. It's terrible

After failing to get simple2ext to work, and having Link2SD eat my SD card mutliple times, I was just about ready to give up on CM9 when I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668247
Since then, my CM9 Alpha 7 install ahs been working very well. I could not be more pleased.
BTW: If you do run those scripts on an existing ROM (without Link2SD, Data2SD, or simple2ext, just do steps 1 and 2)

I don't know much about Link2SD, as i could never get it to work, but... I'm thinking if you move everything back to internal memory, and uninstall the startup scripts that mount the SD card, you should be able to run the scripts I used. I would make a full backup of my ROM before trying anything like that though. Ya never know...
You can try the following.
1. Go to link2sd. Clear cache, relink lib files and multi select anf link all.
2. Get titanium backup and integrate davlik cache into rom.
3. Enable auto link in link2sd.
4. Reboot.
Im using link2sd wid a lot of apps and have internal storage 60+ mb all the time.
Also uninstall any crap system apps you dont use because they'll just fill the internal memory.

Hi buddy...I had installed CM10 on my HTC wildfire & used Link2SD which was working good for the internal memory and applications part but had its own loops of data connection getting lost in between and wake up problem. This was irritating so i switched back to my Stock rom by CWM using Backup & restore. Now im glad to be back on my stock rom without all other problems but the problems of LOW INTERNAL MEMORY.
Is there really any way that i can properly install Link2Sd and make space free and have hell lot of apps just as i had when i was on CM10 ???
Please guide....i love having all my applications back...but on stock rom itself....please help.....

First flash eoghan's kernel on stock ROM which enables using of different scripts and link2SD..then partition SD card and flash the script or use link2SD as always..
And make sure you have a backup..
P S Instead of flashing the above you can also install crossfire's stock ROM or other stock based ROMs which have init.d support I.E you can partition SD card and install scripts and other stuff... Your options are Kimsmod ultimate, Wildchild or crossfire's stock ROM.

LINK2sd does not transfer app data to sd card....so when u use apps and they generate data and cache..it fills up your internal storage...i had the same problem.
i suggest you to use Int2ext script by cronmod...thy are fantastic!

You terrible WRONG!!! Link2SD do the job correctly, learn it! and Internal Storage remains unused-free! When link an app, in Storage Info looks Internal Storage raised but when you make Quick Reboot Internal Stoage seems like a nothing get in there! |So! I search for days to finaly suffix the best to free Internal Storage without any mod file|
I make Factory data reset and device come back with ~30mb Internal Storage, i partition sd card and install Link2SD, mount 2nd partition. Install any app, Create link Quick Reboot and go on!!
Best Regards
XDA DEVELOPERS
There is something better than Link2sd
Something better is called [INT2EXT] and it has requirements:
1.Init.d Supported in ROM
2.SD Card Partition
how to install:
1.Wipe everything and
2. Re-partition SD Card
3. Re-flash ROM
4. Install the zip using CWM
to download the scripts (INT2EXT) please head here

[Q] The best method to to get space with desire?

Hello Folks,
Now a days we have a lot of methods to fix space lack in desire phone.
Which one is the best for you?
AD2SD?
INT2SD?
APP2SD?
LINK2SD?
Any other?
Whatever the ROM uses. They all do basically the same thing - move stuff to your Ext partition to free space on phone.
except INT2SD, it converts ur ext partition into internal memory (data partition, so yh pretty much the same) but only a few roms have it

I choice RunnyMod 7.02 thats came with INT2SD and AD2SDX, but both of them i'm not able to use it.
I hv CM7r2 HBOOT and it is recognized in Amarullz setup, also, i hv a 3GB SD Ext4 partition.
The main problem is, the script setup says that my device does not support both of them.
So, my question is, if INT2SD is better than others, I'll try to fix this, but if is pretty much the same, I wont try.
And the last not least, I cant post in dev forum, so cant explain my problem there!!!
Thanks

You dont need 3gb ext4 partition. Make it 1 gb, it is more than sufficient.
I have used APPS2SD and INT2SD both. But i like INT2SD more as it doesn't slow down my memory card and it allows me to install more apps.:fingers-crossed:
Int2sd the best, cause all other methods lacks of memory after ~100 apps installed.

i felt that a2sd was faster than int2sd. it might be because i have a slow sd card. a2sd can be set to leave some parts on the internal memory keeping those parts faster
From what I understand (and while not very new to this, I am not an expert or a developer) there are three partitions that are restricted inside the internal ROM: apps, data, cache
People seem to agree that moving data to sd slows down the phone, so they tend to keep it in the internal memory. So the main difference between the scripts is if the move the data to sd or not. I think with most modern ones, this is an option and can be enabled or disabled.
As others said, int2sd or int2ext follows a different approach, but I think the principles and end result are the same.
I like the roms that apart from installing the script that runs at startup, they provide the control script that you can run from the terminal and check the status or enable/disable features after installing it.

Moving dalvik cache to sd slows the phone down, everything else can be moved.
I prefer a2sd.
Depends on ROM, mostly
Most ROM devs already indicate a perference for a2sd scripts. If I recall correctly, the first AOKP builds needed m2sd, PA prefers INT2EXT and most GB ROMs used a2sd.
As for speed, try to keep app data on internal memory. Anything else can be moved. Dalvik-cache is mostly taking up half of the internal memory, so an excellent candidate to move.
