Try to reset to factory defaults first by doing this steps.
Backup your data.
Power off your phone.
Press and hold the Volume Down and Camera keys together and then press and hold the Power key until the Nokia logo screen goes black.
Release the Power key and continue to hold down the Volume Down and Camera keys until the phone reboots

Manual Hard reset??

Is there a way to manually hard reset the TP2 w/o having to go into settings??
Please help!!
Turn off your phone completely. If buttons and touch screen become unresponsive, pull the battery out.
Hold both "send" and "end" button, then press and hold "power" button. Follow the on screen instructions.
for verizon
Hold down the end key till the device powers off, then hold volume down, send
and end till you see blue text on a white background. Follow hard reset prompt

I think this is for the At&t version below
1. Turn off the TP2. In my case, I had to pull the battery out since the on-off button didn't work
2. Press and hold the SEND and END keys simultaneously
3. While continuing to hold the SEND and END keys, press the POWER BUTTON (a bit of finger contortion here)
4. Press the VOLUME UP button

Restarting a Lumia 900 after a Device Freeze

This is not an original idea. Lots of info in several different threads. Thought I would pull it into 1 with a Title to go with it.
I've tried every step in all the threads about restarting and resetting the Lumia 900. These are the ones that work for me.
First, the information is located on the Nokia support page here. Its titled, " How do I restart a device which has an integrated battery if the device jams or freezes", and is located in the Support FAQs. Essentialy, hold the power button for 8-10 seconds. The device will power off. Once the device is off, you and power it back on like usual.
Button combination to hard reset the device are located here, The article is located, again, on the Nokia Support page and is titled, "Device turn offs?restarts /freezes."

You have the following three (3) options:
Warning: try options 2 and 3 only if option 1 does not help, as the reset means the personal data is erased. Options 2 and 3 erases all the personal content, including apps that have been purchased and downloaded (may be re-downloaded again) and restores the factory settings.
1) Reboot your phone.
For phones with integrated battery (e.g. Nokia Lumia 800):
1.Press and hold the power key for about 10 seconds.
2.To switch your phone on again, press the power key
For phones with removable battery (e.g. Nokia Lumia 710):
1.Switch off your phone.
2.Remove the battery.
3.After a few seconds, re-insert the battery and switch on your phone.
2) Select Settings > About > reset your phone.
3) If the phone software has frozen, you can perform a hardware reset.
1.Press and hold the volume down and camera keys.
2.Press and hold the power key.
3.When the phone screen goes black, release the power key, but continue holding the volume down and camera keys, until the phone reboots.
These are the only steps I could reproduce on my phone. It cost me my last setup because I really didn't think it would work. The others did not. Oh well. My lumia 900 paid a price for the service of all !!

My Lumia 900 shut off on me, and no matter what i couldn't get it to turn back on. So i called my friend at the local AT&T store and he told me the hard restart trick for it, and also the total wipe restart trick. So here it is for anyone else who gets the unresponsive black screen..... I did the hard reset on mine and it is working perfectly fine, and I did not lose any of my apps, contacts etc...
For the hard restart -Hold the DOWN VOLUME BUTTON & THE POWER BUTTON IN ( AT THE SAME TIME ) UNTIL IT RESTARTS.
For the total hard reset - HOLD THE DOWN VOLUME BUTTON, THE POWER BUTTON, & THE CAMERA BUTTON IN ( AT THE SAME TIME ) UNTIL IT RESTARTS.
I hope this helps out if you have the same thing happen to yours.

as mentioned previously, and on the Nokia site, holding the power button down for 10 seconds or so, will do the job. No need to hold the volume down. Go ahead, try it. It works.
Vol down +camera, press power until it vibrates is the recommended hard reset(return to factory) settings. Continuing to hold the power button may initiate a restart before a reset is done. Go ahead, try it. You'll see the difference.
I've actually tried all these combinations. Vol down+power is just a wasted button press, but no harm. Power continually through a reset could force unwanted reboot.

after trying this several times, it appears that volume down+power may additionally reset or clear IE cookies . When performing those steps, all is passwords are blanked, is history is gone, and at least once, my exchange email was reset. Exchange was treated like I never synced before. It's setup, bit acts like first sync.
I'll look further into this.
Wonder if the Vol Down/Power Button simulates a battery pull, which is different than power off/on. Maybe discharging a capacitor or something to clear cache.
Btw, would have quoted your comment but I updated Board Express this morning and they screwed it up again. Error when trying to quote.

no worries, I am not able to duplicate this. I have noticed that is in WP, when running into a problem, will stop, return to desktop. Upon starting is again, history appears to have been cleared. I know this is a default action in WP, for apps as well as ie, so this may have been a coinincidence when I tried power down.
I think if the keystroke was significant, Nokia would have listed it on their support page. AT&T on the other hand does also sell Samsung and HTC phones, which have various button combinations. Confusing the button combos would be an easy unintentional thing to do.

[Q] Boot loop with a difference...

Took my phone out of my jacket pocket earlier since I thought I could hear a weird buzzing noise every ~8seconds. Looked at my phone and can see it's stuck in a boot loop. I can't hold the power button to turn it off it gets as far as the HTC screen and then goes black. I've tried to get into recovery mode (just holding down the volume - button). It does work to get in there but I only have ~8 seconds before it goes black and reboots again, doesn't seem to be able to pic any of the different options in there though (with - or +)
This phone is stock O2 (EIRE) never been touched not even rooted. Anyone have seen these issues with HTC One X? :crying:
Is there any recommendations that I can do? (key combo) Hoping that when the battery dies it'll go away... doesn't feel to stable though!
I have an idea ...... turn it in for warranty right away
anything to try first?
Hi,
Try this:
Hold power button together with volume down simultaneously till the phone reboots. Still holding both buttons you should go to service menu. Then choose bootloader with using volume key down/up and when the bootloader is selected press once power button. You should go to bootloader menu, from which you select power off and press power menu.
Your phone should be power off.
Then try to press again power and volume down buttons till you gonna gain in service menu. From there you should find and select factory reset and press power button once.
Your phone should be resented and then just reboot.
If everything is correct your phone will be with everything reserved and also your data and settings will be gone, but at least will work. Then you should set again your settings and preferences.
Hope this could help to get your mobile working again.

Thanks dude, that almost worked... got a bit further after factory reset... went to the O2 splash logo and then back to beginning... actually tried it again before hitting reply, wanted to make sure that I actually had time to hit the factory reset before the phone rebooted (8seconds, less actually seems to be 2-3 seconds then a bit longer after...)
I've got a feeling the phone is/has overheated and resetting itself. I think it's rubbish you can't take the battery our of these!
Finally stopped rebooting, battery must be knackered. Will leave it for a while and then start a charge, think it's going into an O2 outlet Monday!
As soon as I started charging the phone booted up and back to loop...
Sorry mate ...like i said, warranty case

[Q] Production Build ROOT Help

I bought the LG e980 from a guy on Craigslist. He worked for ATT and won some sort of sales contest and had the phone shipped to him from the factory. It has worked great for the year I have owned it; I love the phone. I would like to have updated Android, but I use the phone on T-mobile, so no updates for me. I tried to root, but am having no luck. Keeps saying something about "production build". The software version is e98010p. I rooted my table 2-3 years ago, and can't remember too much about the process. Any help would be great!!!

Recovery Mode
I can't seem to get it to book into recovery mode. I have tried volume up + power, both volume keys + power, home + power, quick button + power....and I get nothing. The only thing I get is with volume down + power, which is "factory wipe, push power to confirm, or any other button to cancel".

Take battery out. Wait 5 secs. Putt battery back in. Hold down volume up button. Keep holding down volume up button while you also hold down power button. Wait to see flashing led indicators at bottom and LG logo. Let go of power button while still holding down volume up button.
Didn't work
Well, I tried it several times and it didn't work for me. Any other suggestions?

HTC One M8 stuck in boot loop, won't power off

Hey, so I was messing around with my phone and using TWRP, I deleted the original ROM and then, having forgotten that I'd deleted the ROM, tried to reboot the phone. My phone is now stuck on the HTC splash screen (which at the bottom has the text "This build is for development purposes only...") and won't turn off, despite me holding the power button for probably 1+ minutes. I'm planning to wait until the battery dies, then once I can boot again try to get into TWRP by holding the power button and volume down. Does anyone know if there's a way I can get to TWRP without having to wait until the battery dies (my phone is at full charge), or whether this will not work and I should try something else?
Thanks in advance!
Press and hold power & volume up buttons until the screen turn black then release both buttons and quickly press & hold volume down button only. This will get you to hboot
